From the article, "Except this PlayStation Network DDoS attack isn’t hurting Sony. It’s hurting gamers. These are people who, depending on what console they own, may or may not be paying to play online. Perhaps someone wanted to enjoy the weekend gaming with friends. Maybe it was a Netflix night. It doesn’t matter. The hackers behind the attacks just made our lives worse.
We paid for PlayStation Plus because we didn’t mind the fees."
A recent trophy list published on the PlayStation Network contains hints that Sony is testing PlayStation PC trophies.
Sony removed the ability to transfer games from PS3 to Vita, which unfortunately locks Vita players out of a lot of PS1 classics.
Sony really hates the Vita. Years later and they're still finding ways to snub owners of the device.
It seems like this was included in the most recent PS3 and Vita fw updates. So as long as i dont upgrade my systems... it should still work.
PlayStation Network currently generates over a staggering $14 billion in digital sales.
In fluffy's voice "DAMN"
PlayStation is universal brand. It sells in every country and the brand recognition is just on another level. I think it was like 2018 or 2019 when PlayStation generated more money than Xbox and Nintendo combined

Sony doesn't need GP because they have a huge library of games from their past generations that people can't wait to play again with trophy support. And they have been the best ever since launch of PS5. Game after game while as a Xbox series X owner I am playing the wait game. HFW, GT7, GOW, TOKYO Ghostwire and rumor has it TLOU remake will release this year too. While Ms have all the resources and not much AAA content
Hopefully 2023 is when Xbox can get on a steady schedule for releasing awesome games. Honestly this is the last straw if anything like this happens again than Phil has to and I do mean has to go. He can't be failing this badly with the amount of resources at his disposal
Love to hear it, now keep giving us the usual AAA single player bangers, keep the gaas rubbish to a minimum.
That's good money!
Playstation Network includes all digital purchases, DLC, MT, the monthly/ yearly fee, PSnow and any other paid service on the network.
120mill PS4 and 20 mill PS5, I'm not surprised.
Lol, why mention they don't need a GP service when they are actually doing a similar service come June. I would take that to mean they see more $$ coming from it.
I would surmises the other 2 systems generate in the billions for their digital services as well.
And yet this and other incidents were sparked by the digital distribution/social media agenda. Making everything online dependent under the guise of consumer convenience when its as much, if not more, about publishers keeping rights and control of the games they sell.
It hurts Sony as they have to go through protocol and make sure files weren't tampered with and they have to pay to dissipate the DDoS. As well, it hurts players because it's what they're paying for. Which in turn, comes back to Sony as bad PR because people aren't getting what they paid for. Yes, I know most people understand what happens when this stuff happens, but there is a large amount of people who have no idea and just instantly blame the company for crappy service and there's no way to stop them from doing so if they don't want to learn.
Lizard Squad is hurting PEOPLE!!! PERIOD!!! When innocents have to be emotionally distressed over the possibility of being killed--K-I-L-L-E-D--in a plane, then THAT'S who got hurt.
EDIT: 185 innocent people in that plane...

Lizard squad wanted their name out there. DDoS attacks that affect millions of consumers is absolutely rude and I agree with the author; I'm fine with ps+ being a paid service. What I'm not fine with is a group of people just wanting to stir up trouble for no good reason. Lizard squad went about that the whole wrong way. That's not even mentioning the bomb threat which is in an entirely different ballpark. Bomb threats over what? I'm glad no one actually got hurt and I'm hopeful some entity FBI or otherwise puts an end to this group. I applaud groups like anonymous for actually trying to make a positive difference even though they have a few bad seeds (check recent news) but lizard squad is just awful nothing productive came from their actions.
If anything it gives hackers even more of a bad name. Not all hackers are like them and a DDoS attack isn't even a hack. Not all hackers are the bad kind of hackers. Attacks like that just make people hate hackers in general. No educated gamer will go against Sony, Blizzard or Riot because they know that something like that can't be prevented. Not to mention that saying there is a bomb on a plane is federal crime.
