PS4 exclusive ‘Tearaway Unfolded’ could be Sony’s next big system seller

From the article: "Tearaway Unfolded is a little known title in development by Media Molecule that was revealed during the Sony Gamescom 2014 conference. Back in 2009 when the PS3 was struggling in terms of sales, Media Molecule came to the rescue with its game ‘LittleBigPlanet’ and it turned out to be a system seller for Sony, with its cute and cuddly art design."

I loved what I saw from this game at Gamescom. It looks amazing and unique. Totally getting it.

I'm surprised not many people are talking about this given Media Molecule's track record.

And this isn't even Media Molecule's main project.

Really excited it's going to be 60fps too.

Relientk773528d ago

Yeah I think some people are overlooking it. But they really should be wanting this game.

MM are really good at making console games kids and young adults want to play.

Interestingly enough, TearAway also appeals to people into art and fun (in general). For instance, I saw the creator of "Invader Zim" tweeting a screenshot about the VITA version a while back.

It just seems to capture the imagination of a lot of people. This is coming from someone that never really bought or played the game; just going off second hand reactions.

I played Tearaway on Vita, and DAYUM, it was the Definition of *fresh* experience.
Very tactile; very fun.

Day 1 for this PS4 owner!

Edit: would kill for Gravity Rush or Gravity Rush 2 on PS4!!!!! <3

The original didn't move the Vita much if at all so I don't expext it to he a system seller on PS4 all of a sudden.

Hey, don't get me wrong. I love Tearaway to bits and I couldn't have been happier when Unfolded was announced although admittedly I prefer they continue it on the Vita with a larger scale of adventure as I think the Vita really needs it but I'm still happy Tearaway will still be around and this is a day 1 buy for me. It's just that the market is not really going crazy for something "fresh" like this but I hope that will change.

iamnsuperman3527d ago

I think it is because it has been out before. I think the article is a bit much. It didn't move the Vita (and barely moved it self hence why we have this). People should play it though. It is really good

mikeslemonade3527d ago

It will get good critical appeal but not a system seller. Another exclusive for the PS4 that will be a GOTY nominee for next year. If Wild comes out next year that's another one.

The first Tearaway for the Vita was something else!

Though i have become very busy in the real world, so i can only choose one game to play, and back to work i go.

Tearaway 2, or Yoshi's Wooly WOrld ? hmmmmm . .

Since Yoshi wooly World will be a tad bit challenging or so Nintendo has stated, and Tearaway will probably not bring a challenge like the first one, thennn, i choose Wooly WOrld!!

Tearaway on Vita was amazing! the gameplay, the story, the use of the rear touch pad, the soundtrack, everything about the game was why I am a gamer. It was also my first PLATINUM vita game :-). Looking forward to playing the PS4 release.

Nitrowolf23527d ago

Uh this isn`t tearaway 2, its basically a remake, retellibg of the first one with extra content to suit the ps4

Cueil3527d ago

love this game on the Vita, but it's no system seller unfortunately

iamnsuperman3527d ago (Edited 3527d ago )

It barely sold it self let a lone a system. I loved Tearaway and it was my second favorite game of that year but calling it a system seller is a bit much

BallsEye3527d ago (Edited 3527d ago )

Definitely like it...but a system seller??

360ICE3526d ago

I know right! It looks nothing like the game it is a remake of! /slight sarcasm

The original Tearaway was beautiful and unique, though. Too bad it couldn't be the system seller Vita deserved.

Blowing things out of proportion a little? It will be fun and all but in no way is a system seller. The vita version sales weren't terrific, and considering it's basically a remake plus I doubt it will move units

Spotie3527d ago

Except it's likely to get way more exposure as a console game, and can be seen as a reason- along with LBP- to pick up a PS4 for the kids.

Have a good rest mate, but do come back pleez

Media Molecule are currently among Sony's top developers, even if they aren't taking in top cash. Those who don't own Dreams are really missing out, especially owners of PlayStation VR.

Shameless Plug: Play my VR game in dreams, "We Bowling in VR!" or my other non-VR game, "Missile Commander"!

Amazing guy amazing team amazing games I wish him all the best

Sophisticated_Chap1323d ago

Why? It took them more then an entire generation just to get one game out.

fr0sty1321d ago

It took them almost a generation to get the best, most innovative, and most ambitious play/create/share game ever made.
