How to Connect your PS4 to an SDTV

If you’ve got a PlayStation 4 or an Xbox One, most likely you’ve also got a HDTV. However, there are a large proportion of people who still have, or at least use, standard definition television sets in their bedrooms. So then comes the dilemma, how do you connect your PS4 to the SDTV when the console only has a HDMI out?

Don't they make RF converters? Maybe RF->Composite + Composite->HDMI(best with a receiver that upscales analog on pass through). Probably no single device solution unfortunately.

I'd imagine if you had a problem finding RF->Composite converter, then you could use a VCR, or possibly some older cable boxes that accept a secondary antenna....good luck finding one of those though.:)

If you wanted to get fancy you could build a computer with a old style TV tuner card. Then just use a video card with an HDMI out, but getting the proper slots for both may be troublesome.

Ah. Well I was just trying to be helpful.:) I personally have an old CRT for my retro fixes, but have jimmy-rigged things to work here or there on an HDTV, but never keep it that way because it doesn't look that great.

Truth be told not very many people actually have sdtv's anymore and if they don't they don't use them for gaming or even their main tv.

lots of people still have them, because they are near impossible to get rid of (trash won't take them. People won't take them even if you give them away)

I had 3 in my basement until I finally found a recycling place that took them

You can literally buy an HDTV for the same or even lesser price then a PS4. Buy the TV First!!

Although I can feel this pain. I went the entire first year of the 360's life connecting it through my VCR (YES I SAID VCR!!!) because it had the AV inputs so I could then connect the VCR to my TV via a Coax cable. It was a 19"!! God it was horrible :( but HDTV's were so expensive back then.

Ok... it's 2014 and the year is eight months in. Analog is becoming more & more scarce by the day. moderately old tv (06-09) may be HD ready but might not have an HDMI port, others may only have one, but have two or three component ports. The newer tv sets today, cheap out with component composite combo ports while barley giving you two HDMI ports.
