July 2014 NPD: PS4 was No. 1 Once Again

Man the more I see people saying there will never be as many consoles sold this generation the more I see sold. Two gens ago we had 185 million from the big three. Last gen we had 285 million of the big three (164 million for ps3 and 360 and 101 million for wii). it seems we are going up not down! And this gen PS4 is selling faster than ps2s first year! PS4 is already at 10 million I'm sure it will get the other .61 million between now and November 22nd which will put it above the PS2 sales. @NewMonday not quite dude. While TLoU is my favorite game on PS and one of my all time favs, to call it a halo killer is a bit of a stretch since their not even the same genre. Also your comparing TLoU plus TLoU remastered vs 1 halo game. Try them 1v1 or all of the Halo games, which combine to over 50 million sales (look it up). And when Halo MCC and Halo 5 hit, sales will skyrocket even further.Again not downplaying TLoU, it's a brilliant and beautiful game, but your statement is far from accurate. I wish Sony would make an FPS that could compete (talking first or second party). The closest IMO was KZ2 (which was good).

Infamous, The Last Of Us, Resogun, The Swapper, Rogue Legacy, Oddworld new n tasty, Steamworld Dig, Outlast, Killzone, Trine 2, Need for Speed, Watchdogs, MGS: GZ, Fez, Child of Light, Stick it to the man, Tomb Raider: DE, Dead Nation, Flower, Towerfall Ascension and many more. I think what they are trying to say is it has no games except those downloadable games. I for one don't count resogun etc because they are download only.
I have only 5 PS4 games. infamous Second Son and Killzone are the only two exclusive to the PS4.
NBA 2014, Tomb Raider and The Last Of Us are available on other platforms.

'Cause PS4 has about 3x as many exclusives than Xbone in 2015, and Uncharted 4 is a holiday 2015 juggernaut that will absolutely be able to compete with Halo 5. The PS4 is out-pacing the PS3 by a huge margin. That isn't because the relative quality is so much higher, it is because the relative price is so much lower.

In a way it's a shame to see these consoles sell so well, because it guarantees that the next set of consoles will aim low as well. Good for sales, not so good for enthusiasts.

Still, it is probably necessary for the industry to thrive. It is hard to guess what kind of shape the console industry would be in if both manufacturors had aimed for £500+ price points, but I doubt it'd be healthy.

Same for me last gen. I switched to the PS3 after 5 360s RROD on me. Called MS about the last 360 I bought and they told me my warranty had expired 2 weeks prior to it breaking and I'd need to pay $100.00 to have it fixed...I got pissed of, threw the 360 in the garbage, and went the next day and bought a PS3. That was in 2007 and that fat PS3 is still running like a champ.
I'd love to see the Xbox 360s total sales if you took out all the people who went and rebought a new one after theirs had RRODed. It'd probably be a fairly large number...Millions perhaps.

PS3 worldwide total currently sits above the 360's numbers, and it released a year (1.5 years in Europe) after the 360 got an 8 million unit lead on it. That means that had both consoles released simultaneously, PS3 would be 9-10 million units ahead. Remember all the PS3's bad publicity? It still outsold the 360. PS4 has none of that bad publicity (the Xbone has all of thatl), and the fact that it's 5 million units ahead of the Xbone when you consider they both launched simultaneously, is damning proof of this.

In fact, it's even more severe this gen because in another year PS4 will be another 5 million ahead - it's only a matter of time, and nothing is tightening up…ever.

Re-iterating these facts are getting a bit old, but I may as well educate the needy.

Who exactly does this surprise? I doubt outside of select weeks around SO, MCC or Halo 5 that the One will "outsell" PS4 even in the US, and I'm an Xbot fanboy. I'm not sure I really care either. I just want it to stay moderately ahead of the 360 so we keep getting great games. We should all congratulate Sony.
