Xbox at Gamescom: New and refreshed IP key for Microsoft

MMGN writes: Microsoft’s Gamescom 2014 is a key component in the company’s effort to reinvigorate Xbox sales. Reports that the PlayStation 4 is dominating the German and broader European markets is damning for a console released at the same time as Sony’s console, even if PlayStation always has had the leg-up in the region.

That said, it’s early days, and Microsoft still has the potential to outshine its closest competitor with a strong lineup. The promise to delve deeper into its exclusives lineup is integral in its effort to propel Xbox One up the charts, and it starts with the likes of Quantum Break and Sunset Overdrive.

I expect to see a lot more ips this gen from MS. Phils comments on twitter and interviews have all been about games,new ips&reboots(from the original xbox).

He has also openly stated his admiration of sony&praised them for the way they handle new ips.

MS will put a lot more focus into new ips this gen cos they know we need more games on the scale of Halo& Gears. Quantum break ,Scalebound and the new Crackdown look really good&i'm hoping they all do great but what im most excited about is the fact that MS now realises the importance of fresh new ips.

tipical xbot joke, its funny though cuz ps4 has more retail exclusive games than the xbox one, and if they were broke they wouldnt have the guns to begin with. I know your salty that PS4 DESTROYS the xbox one in every category. I know it bothers you but please dont express your salt so much.

Wouldn't mind Viva Pinata, removing some elements which just made it a game where you farm sell, and get to a stage where pinatas are too scared to enter your land. I don't know it would be interesting if they copied Happy Street and Animal Crossing, and made a game where you also build a town on-top of luring animals.
I do hope we see more Crackdown, and I do hope it is more story-driven (but I doubt that).

Honestly if Phil is smart, he would know that first/second-party exclusives help sales. I say this as that is probably a reason why the PS4 has sold better. But hey I'm not studying the game industry, so who knows.

Am still waiting for Beyond Good and Evil 2 though.
