Sony has revealed their PS Plus free game offerings for the month of August.

That's correct, got it a month ago with my EU PS+ and you get both, play it on PS3 save it to the cloud and continue playing on the go via PS Vita by just loading your PS3 from the cloud and viceversa

It's not only cross-save but also cross-play between PS3&PSV

Do you feel the same way about Crysis 3 on PS3...? Probably not, cause it a major title. But because of PS+ I have enjoyed some pretty dynamite indie games that I wouldn't have considered.

I've been gaming since the Magnavox Odyssey through Intellivision , Commodore Vic20, TRS-80, IBM, and Mac 512K to Nintendo. Man, I played text games...off cassette tapes. So relatively speaking, some of those indie games look just exciting to me as your Uncharteds. I can sorta understand the bias, but sometimes you just try something out and enjoy it as much as the latest FPS.

I've been disappointed with the past 6 months (I've owned most of the games or versions of them like the original PJ Shooters or Dead Nation) and this is the first month I can say I am genuinely excited for. I was planning on getting Road not Taken, so that saves me some money, I wanted the Vita version of Dragon's Crown to go with my PS3 version (yay cross-save!) and said a month or two ago I really hope Fez goes free with Plus. All and all, not much I am really disappointed with.

While they're not technically free, but as MysticStrummer put it "included with your subscription," many people still consider them free for whatever reason. I think it's an argument similar to Club Nintendo, where some people actually buy PlayStation Plus for the discounts / cloud saving / automatic syncing / to play online on the PS4 and to them the games are a freebie. In the end it doesn't really matter, though I don't think it's fair to AllAboutGaming is in the right either.

There have been many months where I've gotten multiple games I own or bought previous versions (Dead Nation / Shooter / Trine) and didn't care for the games I didn't have. This also assumes that these people never tried the demo / previous title in the series or might simply not like the genre (like if you don't like fighting games, odds are you won't care for fighting games regardless of the title). In a lot of ways the comment is a rather demeaning remark meant to dismiss potentially valid complaints with the argument they're free and assumes anyone who doesn't like what is being offered is wrongfully assuming they won't like said games.

Those people are looking at Plus the wrong way. Like PlayStation Plus originally launched as a much worse service than anything the PS4 has gotten. Like according to articles back then the first month of PlayStation Plus offered Age of Zombies (mini), Rally Cross (PS1) and Wipeout HD. While WipEout is a fantastic game, it was also around a year and a half old at that point too. The same goes for the PlayStation Vita. It took around 8 months to get the program on the Vita and outside of the evergreen titles, it took even more time to get a solid stream of titles. So naturally established and longer running things are going to be "better," but over time the PS4 will get more expensive titles.

Actually yes.... for the first time ever gold may have beaten PS+ Dishonoured> Crysis and, metacritic nonwitshtanding, Xbone games probably appeal to more people than PS4 offerings because of graphics..... As a PS only owner I'm not sad though.... Xbox stepping up their game was necessary in order for Sony to step up theirs. As things were Sony had no incentive to improve the quality of PS4 offerings

Crimson Dragon isn't a bad game at all. It takes a few missions to understand the game but you get to level up your dragons, add abilities, and the missions are not long at all.

Give it a try for an hour and you will be surprised.

I agree wholeheartedly with anyone who says the basic OS is crap. I cannot agree enough I could type I agree 100 times and it wouldnt' be enough. I loved my PS3 but there were two things I disliked the most. How freaking long things took to download and update (greatly improved from PS3) and that annoyed me.

What infuriated me though? Was that XMB interface, the basics of the basics were NEVER in the menu's. Some was added YEARS later true but damn it was a joke. Sony KNEW it was too they allowed you to put Linux in as an OS instead until people started hacking it and they removed it without telling anyone that is what the update was doing (Honestly I am surprised they didn't get sued for that)

Me: "I would like to organize my games alphabetically."
Sony: That is so bland though let's think outside the box how about we let you sort them by when you last played them that way you can jump right back into it!"
Me: As an option that is ok I guess but I want to alphabetize them like any other program in the WORLD allows you to do.

Why in the hell do people keep complaining about getting indie games for PS4?

This is how it going is to be and we were told this outright when they announced PS4 Playstation Plus at E3 last year! This was further confirmed when the model structure changed

At the end of June. In the short term it isn't as good as it used to be I was and still am a firm supporter of the fact. However in the long term it will work out better in the end.

Think about it for a second. In the history of Playstation Plus did you ever get a game for PS3 in it's first few months of release? No you didn't none of us did. So please explain to me why people seem to think we are going to get a retail PS4 release when The system hasn't even been out 9 months!

I made this prediction earlier in a similar comment and I will say it again. We will eventually get PS4 Retail releases but it probably won't happen until the 1 Year Anniversary of PS4. It will be either Killzone or Knack. There is no chance of it being any other game. Those are the only games that will be bankrolled by Sony thus they don't need to make any deal with a developer it is their game they funded it they can make it free when they want to.

Killzone is a series that Sony still stands behind. Knack is a game that is underappreciated and due to reviews many people ignored it. If it is Killzone expect people to get pissed off at getting it as more than likely most people bought it at release. Personally I think it is more likely to be Knack as Mark Cerny said from the getgo he would like it to become a series.

Now lets go back to the indie rants. One of this month's playstation plus games is one of the best games to release on the system and it is the definition of an indie title. If for some reason you have yet to download Towerfall Ascension you are really missing out. When the games announced above go live it WILL be taken down. That and Child of Light are the only ones who have really held their own against the big AAA titles in my opinion. As much as I love Child of Light I wouldn't really call it an indie title so that just leaves Towerfall Ascension. There have been other good games yes but nothing with as much polish replayability, and accessibility as Towerfall. That is the game that got me to pick up a second PS4 Controller which is saying something since I also own Rayman Legends and Lego Marvel Superheroes.

Expect for at least the first 1 Year (from the Japanese launch NOT our launch) 90% of the free PS4 games to be indie titles, Then expect it to decrease to about 75% of th e titles. Don't expect it to fall below 60% EVER.

Sony has made it very clear they want to be the defacto indie outlet for consoles (they will never touch steam in that category though I am under no illusion there)

Making deals with indie developers is cheaper for Sony, and gives completely new companies massive exposure and PR for games we may never have heard or given a second glance otherwise.

By contrast expect PS Vita and PS3 games to be retail releases 80% of the time. Playstation Plus is currently the de facto thing for anyone with a PS Vita to have to get a selection of games and PS3 is old enough now that it costs them very little to port old games.

The one time I do get upset is if a game was already featured as a free game one month for a system and a few months later is the free game for a handheld. Sony has heard the complaints and have listened to them. Has no one noticed how much cross-buy has carried over to titles as of late. Still expect this to happen :( Far less often than before though.

72 Games a year for a 50 dollar Membership means you are paying less than 1 dollar a game. Quit Bitching about entitlement and appreciate this for what it is. Plus is a million times better than when it first started and it will constantly be refined. It was absolute crap when it first started. I know as I have been a member since day one. Just be grateful and download Towerfall Ascension before you have to pay for it.

Well the prediction i made a year ago was spot on, PS Plus has gone to hell since the launch of the PS4 because now they can use PS4 multiplayer as a way to keep us subscribed. They introduced PS Plus for PS4 multiplayer as if it were a bonus for a great service anyways but at this point it’s pretty much the same as Xbox Live Gold, they just rip you off for a service that should be free.
I haven’t downloaded a PS Plus game since February because they’ve mostly all been so awful since, PlayStation saying they love indies is apparently a good thing to them but in my opinion it’s a terrible thing because in reality 9/10 indie games suck and the ones that are actually good such as Journey, The Unfinished Swan, Sound Shapes etc are never offered on PS Plus, we just get the crappy ones.
PlayStation 4 released with the motto “This is for the players” and i genuinely believed Sony prioritized their players as much as their shareholders but i was very wrong as after a few months i’m starting to see that it was all just a false sense of hope, all they’ve cared about since day one is money, money and more money…like every company i guess. I would love for them to prove me wrong but i just can’t see it happening, we’re still waiting for half of the features we were promised on the PS4. Some of which haven’t even been mentioned since E3 2013.

We said basically free and stuff. Also, you get the games, discounts, online storage, free trials, and access to betas. So people should stop whining about the basically free games. As it costs about what $4.17 a month or so. It also for now covers 3 different systems, and if you have all 3 systems it is a great deal. Even for 1 system it is still a good deal.

Anyways it isn't like there are many games that Sony can realistically choose from. Since the system at least for the PS4 is a little over 8 months old. Once more games start coming out at a more consistent basis the better the games will be.

Besides most people have probably never tried these games, so they don't know if they are good or not. So no reason to complain until you try the games.

A load of crap. & no I don't have something against indies. I love Outlast, Dead Nation and Octodad. Indie isn't a genre, there's alot of variety - more variety than in AAA games these days.
However these particular games are not appealing to me - oh well !
In fact I hope PS Plus sticks to indie games. I buy AAA games all the time, by the time they come to plus I will have played/owned them. I rarely buy indies, if it wasn't for PS Plus I wouldn't ever get to experience even half of them.

It's becoming quite obvious finally to others now why Sony is so kind to indies. They get them for super cheap I'm sure for PS+ free months.
