ouch.. for the PS4 sells. Looks like WiiU sale are going up and Hyrule Warriors will be out in three weeks time. Good for Nintendo. Looks like the PS4 was only selling of hype in Japan. But where are the games. hmmmm.

360ICE3555d ago (Edited 3555d ago )

I'm guessing the PS4 will pick up in 2015 once Deep Down, Bloodborne, Final Fantasy, The Phantom Pain and Kingdom Hearts hit the market. I'm surprised, though, that the sales have been that slow. Haven't they been able to get any of the JRPGs from last year's TGS on the market? I remember there being dozens...

MSBAUSTX3555d ago

Funny thing is that Wii U sales will go up in 2015 as well as Super smash come out this holidays, X Chronicles, Splatoon, Fatal Frame, and then Zelda U all come out between now and end of 2015.

360ICE3555d ago

@MSBAUSTX
I should hope so.

Chevalier3555d ago

Only Natural Doctrine is out and Omega Quintet on the way. If they released a Persona game it'd really push sales.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3555d ago

Go up in 2025 you say?
Sales will dip below 2500 weekly then
@MSBAUSTX
Fatal Frame is September 27 and Bayonetta Collection comes before

360ICE3554d ago (Edited 3554d ago )

@Chevalier
Yeah, PlayStation does have a lot of typically exclusive franchises that should make an appearance sooner or later. The Tales Of games and Atelier being more of those.

@OtakuDJK1NG
Not really. Is there any reason why all of them should be pushed back any more? Also, TGS might reveal something. I really feel like PS4 needs a good JRPG to make it abroad.

Uh dude, Wii U isn't doing well either. Just sayin'... Nothing really is other than 3DS and even that's not lighting anything on fire.

daclynk3555d ago (Edited 3555d ago )

at least Japan Wii U owners have Japaneses Games to play. What was Sony thinking. I want more Japaneses games to play. all the other games from the west are meh'. PS4 is doomed at least in Japan unless bring out some Big Japaneses games that will move the system. All those are in 2015. so lets see how it holds up till then. i remember when everyone here on N4g said PS4 will crash Wii U in japan when is releases. Look at it now. So much butt hurt. LOL

SoapShoes3555d ago

^ They still have Japanese games to play just not a lot. Oh and Wii U was exactly the same, it launched with hardly anything the Japanese wanted that's why it has done so poorly. You are the one who sounds butthurt, trying to make one failure look good because it is slightly better than another failure.

thehobbyist3555d ago

Wii U has been outselling PS4 most weeks. That's what people are pointing out. Not to mention Nintendo makes money off of hardware sales and Sony doesn't. So even lackluster sales are profitable for Nintendo. While Sony has to deal with selling short, and selling at a loss.

avengers19783555d ago

@hobbyist Nintendo just posted another profit loss, so no, not all sales equal profits for them... They are doing better than they were but at this point still losing money. I do believe Wii U sales will continue to improve, but I also think PS4 sales will improve in japan

Unfortunately Japan gave up on home consoles. They mostly purchase handheld gaming devices.

Neonridr3555d ago

PS4 sales in danger of dipping below 5k

ritsuka6663555d ago

PS4 is trailing behind the Dreamcast in Japan.

SoapShoes3555d ago

But so is the Wii U.... It's a different time and consoles don't do well there until something big comes out.

DanielGearSolid3555d ago

I'll reserve my judgment until MGS:TPP FFXV and Kingdom Hearts drop over there

Neonridr3555d ago

yeah, but the console might be dead before those games hit.. :P

Obviously the system will take off in sales, but it's still not good to see the old 3DS model outselling it.

ritsuka6663555d ago

I doubt this games will sell a lot of consoles.

DanielGearSolid3555d ago

@Neon
Idk, to me it's just ppl comparing the old Japanese games market to the new handheld/Smartphone dominated market it has become today.

It's almost Apples to Oranges

@Ritsuka666

Do you have any reason to believe these games wont sell alot of consoles?

They're 3 of the top 10 most wanted games as voted by fans according to Famitsu.

TongkatAli3555d ago

Ritsuka doesn't think FF15 and Kingdom Hearts 3 will move a lot of consoles....... XD you in for a really rude awakening on that one buddy.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3555d ago

@DanielGearSolid

MGS: GZ didn't do much why will MGS:PP do much

Good to see WiiU gaining a steady footining.

If anything, Nintendo should focus on Japan a lot more. It looks like they actually have a chance in winning Japan at least.

Those VitaTv sales are depressing though. Hope it does better in the west.
It bombed in Japan.

MotherLight3555d ago (Edited 3555d ago )

Gaining? This increase is the only one it has had in a while since MK8 released, after that it was dropping constantly and that was right after MK8 in Japan until now, the increase is probably because of Hyrule Warriors.

I guess it is slightly better, no denying that but the sales are still absolutely terrible in Japan all around for every console besides the Vita and 3DS. Why would they focus on Japan more when the Wii U is selling better in NA and EU by much larger margins?

MK8 moved way more hardware outside of Japan.

It is the best selling console in Japan but that isn't saying much really when it is still barely anything for what Nintendo is used to with their consoles there.

KonsoruMasuta3555d ago (Edited 3555d ago )

Maybe you should have read my whole comment before going on a tear filled, butt hurt, mini rant.

I said gaining "steady footing"; as in WiiU numbers seem to be settling in a decent range. Yes, I am aware that WiiU sales dropped after the MK8 craze but they've been in the 8k to 9k area for a few weeks now, which is better than what the WiiU used to sell in Japan.

I said nothing to suggest that I thought it was doing spectacular or it was flying off the shelves, I just said it was "gaining a steady footing"

MSBAUSTX3555d ago

You been told MotherLight

SoapShoes3555d ago

@Konsoru, how is sub 10k a decent range? It's still not good.

MotherLight3555d ago

Lol butt hurt mini rant, okay. Told? Lol.

That was the entire point of my post is that the Wii U hasn't been gaining steady footing in Japan, the sales in Japan are constantly fluctuating. They aren't steady, learn what the word steady means.

You don't even need me to tell you that, every previous media create will do so just fine but yea I am being so negative and so butt hurt over this because I can point out the obvious difference between numbers?

I simply said the Wii U is selling better outside of Japan and that is the truth. I don't see what is so wrong about that and why everyone ignores the poor sales in Japan.

No, you didn't say it was spectacular but you said it was "good" when again they aren't steady numbers and in Japan the sales aren't good.

So my reading comprehension is just fine, thanks. I also really love how anyone who is articulate on this site, is automatically written off as ranting just because you people can't seem to read more than a couple sentences without flipping your shit about it.

N4g_null3555d ago

The poor sales are being ignored due to japan's tax issues which are depressing spending. I'm not sure if apple store sales are taxed over there but that market is flooded with free to play games.

Only handheld games are holding on. The situation in japan is artificial in away. Japan should have been caught up in the hype of the ps4. It has not. The wiiu should be selling like hot cakes over there. The library caters to japan's taste mostly.

KonsoruMasuta3551d ago (Edited 3551d ago )

Yes, it was a butthurt mini rant.

Steady:

Firm and in position

The WiiU has been in the 8k to 9k range for a while now. It's been holding that position, and that means it's sales are steady.

Your comprehension skills are clearly lacking. You're ranting with a tear filled passion. Something similar to an ape.

thehobbyist3555d ago

Well I know I'll be buying a Vita- excuse me. PLAYSTATION, TV sometime next year. Vita has some quality animu games that spark my interest.

daclynk3555d ago (Edited 3555d ago )

WTF even the PS3 is selling more than the PS4. Never remember seeing the Wii selling more than the Wii U in Japan. Not even once. lol

SoapShoes3555d ago

You act like the Wii U has had a huge supply of Japanese games... The Wii U has done poorly because it has NOT had Japanese games to play. Now that Nintendo is releasing some heavy hitters that's changing somewhat.

Concertoine3555d ago

I would actually argue the opposite, that they focus too much on Japan.

They have 2 Monster Hunter games, Dragon Quest X, Fatal Frame, Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, and Xenoblade 2 all out or out soon, and none of those series have anything beyond niche appeal outside of Japan. Also the numerous party games that Japanese gamers buy in spades.

Ol_G3555d ago

It had monster hunter at launch a dragon quest mmorpg and a mario title

Bethesda Needs to Reduce the Gaps Between New Fallout and Elder Scrolls Releases

Waiting a decade for new instalments in franchises as massive as Fallout and Elder Scrolls feels like a waste.

Microsoft have Obsidian but I feel it's Bethesda who just don't want to play ball as they've always said they want to do it themselves.

Once MS bought Zenimax in 2020 they should have put the Outer Worlds 2 on the back burner, allow Bethesda to finish off its own Space RPG with Starfield (despite totally different tone why have two in your first party portfolio with two developers who's gameplay is a tad similar) and got Obsidian for one of their projects to make a spiritual successor to New Vegas.

When the Elder Scrolls VI is finished Bethesda can then onto the main numbered Fallout 5 themselves.

The Outer Worlds 2 started development in 2019 so putting it on the back burner wouldn't have been the end of the world, they'd have always come back to it once Fallout was done and it would have been nicely spaced out from Starfields release once they had most likely stopped supporting it and all the expansions were released.

If they did this back in 2020 when they bought Zenimax and the game had a good, steady 4 - 5 years development, you might have seen it release in 2025.

We are literally going to be waiting until 2030 at the very earliest for Fallout 5 and all they seem bothered about is pushing Fallout 76.

RaidenBlack9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

Its not just only Todd not playing ball.
Obsidian have made a name for themselves in delivering stellar RPGs, but most famous once have always been sequels/spin-offs to borrowed IPs like KOTOR 2, Neverwinter Nights 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Stick of Truth etc.
Obsidian wants to invest more in their own original IPs like Outer Worlds or Pillars of Eternity with Avowed.
Similar to what Bluepoint & inXile wants to do or Kojima is doing (i.e not involving anymore in Konami's IPs).
So yea, even if New Vegas has the most votes from 3D Fallout fans, Obsidian just wants to do their own thing, like any aspiring dev studio and MS is likely currently respecting that.
But a future Fallout game from Obsidian will surely happen. Founder Feargus Urquhart has already stated an year ago that they're eager to make a new Fallout game with Bethesda, New Vegas 2 or otherwise. Urquhart was the director of the very first 1995's Fallout game after all.
And don't forget Brian Fargo and his studio inXile, as Brian Fargo was the director of Fallout's 1988 predecessor: Wasteland

KyRo5h ago(Edited 5h ago)

Obsidian should take over the FO IP. They're do far better with it than Bethesda who hasn't made a great game for almost 15 years

Duke195h ago(Edited 5h ago)

I disagree. Part of these games is the support for the mod community. If they move to releasing a "next game" every 2 or 3 years, the modding support plummets and the franchises turn into just another run of the mill RPG.

Make the games good enough to withstand the test of time, to keep people coming back to them and expanding on them with mod support.

--Onilink--2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

I dont think anyone is saying they need to come out every 2 years (not to mention almost no game is released that quickly anymore)

By the time Fallout 5 comes out, it will be more than 15 years since Fallout 4 came out (same with ES6 coming out 15 years after Skyrim). Even if you want to use F76 as the metric for the most recent release, that one came out in 2018. It will be a miracle if F5 comes out before 2030

The point is that for a studio that doesnt seem to operate with multiple teams doing several projects at once, that their projects normally take 4-5 years as a minimum, and that now they even added Starfield to the rotation, it becomes a 15+ years waiting period between releases for each series, which doesnt make sense. Imagine that Nintendo only released a mainline Mario or Zelda game every 15 years…

They either need to start developing more than 1 project at a time, let someone else take a crack at one of the IPs or significantly reduce their development times

Duke191h ago(Edited 1h ago)

Why should someone else take a crack at one of the IPs? Look at what happened to Final Fantasy as a recent example - there is pretty clear FF fatigue setting in because they are now pumping out titles in the franchise every few years. Pumping out more games faster doesn't always make a series better.

There are plenty of options to make new games, not just create more titles in the same universe at a faster pace.

mandf2h ago

Yeah I’m going to say it, who cares about the modding community when making a game? Half the time developers only tolerate modders because they fix there game for them.

Skuletor4h ago

Yeah, let's all advocate for smaller gaps between series' releases, then we'll probably get headlines about how the series have dropped in quality and they could have benefited from more time in the oven. Let them cook.

SimpleSlave3h ago

"how the series have dropped in quality and they could have benefited from more time in the oven" So every Bethesda game then? Got it.

Listen, I would agree if this was about From Software or something, but Bethesda?

🤣

C'mon now. What timeline are you from?

Skuletor1h ago

Think about it, they're already bug filled messes on their current schedule, can you imagine how much worse it would be if they rushed things?

Duke191h ago

I mean you aren't wrong. People are going to complain about anything

isarai3h ago

Hows about you focus on quality, just a thought 🤷‍♂️

Sciurus_vulgaris2h ago

Bethesda [or Microsoft] would have to reallocate internal and external studios towards fallout and elder scrolls titles. Bethesda has the issue of developing 2 big IPs that are large RPGs on rotation. If you want more Fallout and Elder Scrolls, development will have to be outsourced.
