Destiny is the birth child of many popular games. It's easy to say it's better because it's newer and it draws ideas from conventions people hadn't thought of before.

But Bungie halo campaigns have brilliant pacing, so you could argue that the lack of RPG elements is a strength.

There are striking similarities between the two and also striking differences. Why does one have to 'beat' the other? They can both be great at what they do.

I totally disagree with guns. While there is many more in Destiny (small differences between them tho) they just don't feel half as good as halo guns, especially halo 4. Don't feel that power at all.

While Destiny is amazing as it's own game, I could easily write an article giving plenty of reasons why Halo is better...example:

-Competitive multiplayer (just can't match one in halo)
-vehicles (way more in Halo)
-simply better combat and smarter enemies that actually work well together and help each other
-Story (plenty of books, halo is just huge and well written)
-Enemies (ones in Destiny feel very generic)
-4 player Split-screen with ability to take it online

Well, here you have it. Both games are amazing in their own way. If Destiny can keep millions of players logging in every day many years after release (like they still do to Halo 3 and Halo 2), then we can say Destiny is on par with Halo.

You have to play both, to appreciate both. Getting this and MC collection day 1!

I didn't like the new guns in halo 4 much at all. Battle rifles are most satisfying, and covenant weapons are just kind if iconic, specially the needler IMO. The pretend needler in Destiny is so much less cool.

To me this article is not hating on xbox (it's more or less who comments in the article). For me Destiny is different enough to development it's own community (just not the game for me though) I think it fits with Mass effect better than Halo. judging off the core mechanics of halo (which destiny has), it doesn't better halo at all. I do feel that there will no migration from the halo community to destiny (opinion/I could be wrong), this game will more likely appeal to those who don't love halo. Now, for the xbox core community destiny is in real trouble going up against the HMCC collection (4 revised games, amazing mp, 4000 achievement points) Bungies first, is going up against it first of it's kind, they are in trouble... For the ps core community, this is maybe not a necessary debate to even get in on due to the fact that most of you don't like any game on xb... Ps is in fact getting its first real fps shooter (just not exclusive/in japan yes).

Honestly, I feel as though most of hate towards Xbox One is justified. (not all)

I was a die hard Xbox supporter, all through E3 2013 and all the way up to launch even (not to mention 2001-2012)...
..that was until I got my hands on both the systems, and played the multiplats on both my systems. (X1 paled in comparison, in terms of visuals)

Since then, I have left the Xbox brand in the dust, gladly.

I will say all those features are cool and I did play the beta and I did like it....But honestly I didn't think that this game is the game of the year its an updated halo that's all and I thought the mechanics of shooting in the game were lacking for what even the old halo games had I liked it but not impressed with it I'll be getting the mcc instead way better in my opinion. Why is this made up of things that halo doesn't even strive for? Of course Destiny has better RPG elements, it's an RPG... And halo isn't. Played the beta and wasn't too hooked on it. It seemed like bungie couldn't even make a different game without being similar to halo. It's halo under a different skin with cod game mechanics. Fallen with invisible cloaks, ghost that resembles guilty spark, hive that reminds me of flood. But that's just my opinion.

I'm looking forward to that Halo 5 Beta instead

One thing I didn't like was the fact that weapons and stats from the single player/coop carry over to competitive multiplayer. This seems to guarantee that multiplayer will be imbalanced.

You can play as a female in Halo. Not the main story but every where else.

Besides Chief is a real character (kinda of bland one) but a character at that he has a name. Those 3 guardians are virtually nameless because EVERYONE matters in Destiny there are no real supporting cast like in the halo series or at least not the ones that make you care.

I like Destiny allot and its most likely day one but Destiny and Halo are two different games that just so happen to be made by the same developer, that's it.

I haven't played halo online and the last campaign I played was halo 2. For the people that have played halo and destiny online do they feel a lot alike or not.

PvP wise they feel alike with Destiny going a couple steps backwards as far as balance, map design, weapons, and gameplay stategy. I could write a WALL of text going into detail vut it would be too much for me but those were the basic things that stood out to me.

The PvP sucked alot and felt like a step down even from Halo 4's multiplayer which wasn't all that great either. I just really wished that there was going to be more than one area per planet because the missions with a fireteam is the games saving grace but that looks like it's going to be short lived with the lack of content. Mind you in the beta i was a lvl 8 Hunter with 161 defense 96% Dicipline 30% strength 62 attack scout rifle, 62 attack blue razor thingy copperhead shotty from the moon mission , 62 attack rocket launcher with legendary cloak, Emblem, and both armors (had to be lvl 20 to equip) from the Iron Banner which i ranked to level 3 btw. I still wasn't all that impressed.

This really isn't so much things that Destiny does better than Halo, but moreso things that Destiny does that Halo doesn't and honestly it's subjective if that's even a good thing.

I'd argue the core Halo combat experience is still much more solid and refined than Destiny, but Destiny definitely has a deeper means of tweaking your experience than Halo does.

1. Halo is not an RPG, so I sure hope is has better RPG elements.

2. I have no clue how being a dungeon crawler makes it better than Halo. This part pretty much says it has loot and grinding for weapons I sure hope that aspect is better than it in Halo

3. Halo is not an open world game so...

4. Halo has tons of great guns that are all balanced and predictable in how they work. They are refined and we'll crafted. More does not mean better especially when you are an arena style shooter. Having 80 different auto rifles would just be absurd in Halo.

5. Halo SP is about a guy named Master Chief and only playing as him is not a flaw also Halo Reach, 3 and 4 allow you to be female not sure about 2.

Halo is not an RPG but it is a superb arena shooter.

Halo is not a dungeon crawler but it has some of the most well designed and well paced campaigns in the FPS genre.

Halo games have arguably some of the most engaging music and going through the campaign is like going on a journey rather than exploring a world. It is not immersive in the same way as an open world game with exploration but it is certainly delivers an experience on par.

I have been playing video games since the Atari era and I really like the FPS genre. I had the chance to play Halo 1, Halo 3 and Halo Reach. Halo 1 was a very good FPS, wich it's best achivement was to bring the online competitive multiplayer to consoles. Halo 3 was ok, didn't like so much, but it was the most over hyped game of all time. Much more than Destiny (and many other games. People have a tendency to forget very soon), that game was virtually everywhere. For me Halo Reach was the best of the series, great story.

In my opinion, Halo its a great franchise but it's not like the second coming of Jesus (or the epitome of FPS as our friend Lifeisgamesok said many coments above) like Microsoft and many of the xbox fanboys are trying to sell.

On the other hand, Destiny is a new IP which have some similarities with Halo but the RPG elements, the ability to play 3 players Co-op (4 players should have been perfect), the big bosses fights and the exploration makes Destiny one of the best FPS that I have played in a long time. And, pluss, you have the competitive multiplayer. Remember, this is only a Beta and a lot of things need to be polished and/or corrected. Its just a glimpse of what I think is going to be one of the greatest games of all time.

Finally, as a gamer, I don't get why this game is getting all the hate from other fellow gamers. I know that Destiny its not going to suit to everyone, but come on, its not that bad. Maybe if Bungie make it exclusive to Xbox the history would be different.
