Sony's PlayStation 3 was a tough nut to crack. Early on during its life cycle, several developers faced issues developing games on it as the architecture was wildly different than what was found in gaming PCs or even the Xbox 360 back then.

I'd like to see a source from the people saying CELL is more powerful than what's offered with the Jaguar platform. It's extremely hard to believe, and something I'd outright laugh at normally, but since so many people seem to believe it I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.

An improved Cell probably would of been more powerful but then X86 is easy'er to develop for so Sony went with X86 which will max out sooner,maybe Sony doesn't have plans for this gen to be as long as last gen who knows but if the devs are happy with it then hopefully the games will show that.

Actually it is more powerful in some ways, but the 2005 varient obviously isn't as up to date in tech procedures as more modern CPU's like Jaguar by a large margin, thus giving the two Jaguars some out-the-door advantages just like all modern CPU's.

Stoked for what's already been revealed to be coming to PS4 this year and the next, and am also very excited for what hasn't been announced yet. It's going to be another great generation as long as people shut-up about 30fps vs. 60fps and resolution and other crap like that. Let developers do their job by creating their dreams and visions, and simply enjoy what they supply for our entertainment. Sony provided the hardware in spades for devs, and I'm already impressed by what devs have been able to do with it, so I know we're in for some real treats.

4K TV won't be mainstream for some years, if ever.

Plus it's $400 hardware. I was just reading an article the other day saying the average price for a 4K gaming PC is around $4100 (including monitor)

You're wasting your time. Facts don't compute with people like him. Honestly $4100 sounds awfully cheap unless you're targeting 30fps with all game in 4k mode. Unless of course you're willing to dial back the settings to achieve that resolution. Even still it would take dual GTX 780 Ti classifieds (over clocked) to hit that resolution at reasonable settings and frame rates.

Than you will have those that say yeah but new GPUs and cards are on the horizon. Yeah and it will take several months later until EVGA, MSI, Gigabyte, etc get their hands on the cards and create better variations of them.

I'm guessing that maybe a year from today would be the best time to build a 4K PC and I would set a budget of no less than $4000 monitor not included. But that's just me.

Because devs will try to push the graphics more and more. Game developers don't share the same opinion about resolution and framarate as fans.

for them, if they need to choose between pretty graphics at 1080p/60fps or even prettier graphics at 1080p30fps they will choose the latter because they don't see the need of 60fps.It was always like that but people pretend that it's a new thing.

PS1 had the default res of 320x240 but the framerate sometimes were locked at 60,sometimes were locked at 30,sometimes were unlocked;

PS2 had the default res of 640x480 and the same framerate variation of PS1;

PS4 will be the same Default res 1920x1080 and 60/30/unlocked depending of the game.

Yep. They tried so hard on making p3 hack proof that the multiplatforms all ended up looking like mud. Most notably crysis 2 and 3. Black ops 1 and 2 were pretty bad too.

Alot of times i would buy multiplayer games on both consoles and single player games i would buy used at gamestop and return it before the 7th day and get it on the 360 after i platinumed it on the p3 or got the most trophies I could.

90% of the games looked better on the x360

spec ops the line
all are examples of games that look better on the x1.

the ps3 was hailed a graphical powerhouse but only proved to be true on a FEW of the exclusives. Uncharted 1 and 2 looked brilliant....part 3 on the other hand looks like they gimped it down for 3d support im guessing....textures were much worse.

killzone 2 was great,,...part 3...dogshit. I think they were pushing 3d so hard that they crammed it into all their games so they all looked flatter or duller or something.

they used their heads with the p4...because its like a pc like the x360 was....cheap pcs, but anyways its easier for them to port games.

Im still pissed about the crysis games on p3 though. they looked really bad. I did platinum all 3 of them though, got 1000 achievement points in 2 and 3 on xbox. Playing it on pc now blows them both out of the water. It makes KILLZONE SHADOWFALL unplayable imo.
