Alien Isolation vs The Evil Within - who's ahead in Survival Horror hype

this has me interested in alien isolation now since i know about the evil within and its survival horror, awesome there going in that direction, in my opinion when it comes to horror outer space is terrifying because its in a abyss, so from the environment i would give it isolation (not yet) of course but most likely as dead space's environment was insane. and i can see alien isolation resembling it a bit.

I'm honestly a little fed up with horror games where all you do is run away and hide, I really liked Penumbra and Amnesia, but then the market (especially the indie scene) was saturated with those kinds of games.

The Evil Within looks like to be a return to classic Survival Horror where combat is a key component to the gameplay, which is a lot more fun to me to be honest.

Then again, Alien Isolation seems to have a combat system of it's own, but the developers seem to avoid talking too much about it, I hope it's fleshed out.

there is nothing i would like more than both these games to be great.but isolation doesnt look like something id play for more than 2 hours.
even outlast got boring for me after some time.
games need gameplay and thats that ,also id rather trust the dev of RE4 than an alien game dev

As much as I'd like to see Mikami come good with Evil Within my heart is leaning towards Alien Isolation. SOMEONE has to make a decent Alien game, surely!

I'll be going for Evil Within over Alien Isolation. Thing is though, you neverreally know what Mikami's involvement is going to be. All too often, I've seen him used a s a figure head - 'oooooh, Mikami's involved, it must be good' - only to get burned.

From the videos, ammo seems scarce. There is a lot of exploration, and some puzzles.

Seems like a Survival Horror game, to me.

some parts in that gameplay were simply brilliant.
that corridor that was repeating itself and the 4rd time just when you think itll do the same a river of blood starts flowing from the room.
id have jumped if i were playing it

I'm getting both games, not gonna judge either until i play them first.

Also i liking the "crew expendable" DLC for Alien Isolation, getting to play as Ripley, Dallas or Parker to escape Nostromo at the end of the first Alien movie.....and the "last survivor" DLC where Ripley sets the self destruct sequence on the Nostromo and makes her way to the escape shuttle.

"The Evil Within" because it has more of the unknown in it. More than a few monster types, traps, illusions, etc. I'll still get 'alien' if it turns out to be good.

The thing with Alien is that it's horror is set in stone and has been for years.

We know what it is all about. How it acts, the noises it makes. It's not as scary as it used to be.

The Evil Within on the other hand, the horror is unknown.

We don't know what's hiding behind the corner.

i think the biggest problem is to make one alien feel scary again. we have seen movies and played games where we have slaughtered hundreds of aliens. now to make one scary again will be hard.

however, with barely any weapons im guessing it can be freaking scary.

the evil within is just based on hope that shinji can release a masterpiece like before.

Im going for alien isolation, it won't have that boredom effect where you only run and hide there's melee weapons and flame throwers as well as a gun. So yeah alien.

i think the internet people are looking forward to alien isolation more since its been getting quite a big hype and has that indie game.

indie game horror generally feature less action and more running around and hiding.

the evil within is just popular because of shinji mikami, its been geeting a lot of slack about framerates, graphics and animation. however, this game does seem interesting and looks like its going for the wtf feel from silent hill games.

both games feel great, im getting a us vs japanese horror movie feel from these two. kind of like paranormal activity vs the ring. hopefully i will enjoy these games and not shit my pants playing them
