I honestly think that DriveClub has a better weather system and is a better game in Overall than Project CARS. I guess it will be a HUGE Sony exclusive franchise in the near future.

Abriael3558d ago (Edited 3558d ago )

And to compare them you compare four completely random screenshots that don't even show a remotely similar situation?

Mind you, may at least use your own picture for the post here instead of just grabbing mine.

Mostafeto3558d ago

Abriael First of all, I am comparing the weather system in general not in a specific situation
Second, those pics were released via a press release making them availabke and free to use to any video game journalist
Third, I will adf more pics to the post tomorrow to increase comparison
Final thing, know that press releases are for everyone to use and try to know the rules and guidelines as journalist and see if I done anything wrong in this before you talk
Anyway thanks for your comment and feedback on the post :)

Abriael3558d ago (Edited 3558d ago )

Really? You mean the picture on the top right of this page with "driveclub vs Project cars" on it was in a press release?

That's most amazing. I didn't know that the Project Cars developers would include the featured picture from my latest comparison article (which I made myself in photoshop, with a screenshot taken directly from my copy of the beta) in an official press release.

I'm almost honored /s.

Secondly, comparing random screenshots with absolutely no identity between each other other than "it rains" is rather funny, especially since it shows absolutely nothing.

WeAreLegion3558d ago

I'm sorry, but I have to go with Abriael on this one. These screens aren't good indicators.

generic-user-name3558d ago

It's only a pic dude, I just google image searched "Driveclub vs Project Cars" and your image is on the first page, I would have probably used it too if I were in his shoes. You did a good job making it but not worth fighting over I don't think.

As for the comparison, he at least managed to show what water droplets look like on cars in each game. Both look great but I think DC edges it based on these images. Hardly a comprehensive comparison but, meh.

Prime1573558d ago

Whoa, guys...

Google images help page says:

Just because YOU find it on Google doesn't mean it's legal..

tbone5673558d ago

Forza Horizon 2 looks better than both in my opinion.

Malphite3558d ago

@tbone567: Goes to show that opinions can be wrong. Forza Horizon 2 seem to look good from what we've seen but PCars and DC are in it's own league graphically.

To be fair FH2 is an open world game so it obviously won't be able to compete for the best looking racing game.

assdan3558d ago

I'm guessing driveclub will have better effects. This is because it's made by a 1st party dev, at half the framerate (I believe so at least). If driveclub doesn't look better in every way, then something went horribly wrong.

imt5583558d ago

I really don't know why some sites use this picture for Driveclub

http://i1.wp.com/gearnuke.c...

This screenshot is CLEARLY PROJECT CARS screenshot ( date March 3rd 2013 ) and weather stuff were clearly unknown in Driveclub :

http://www.cinemablend.com/...

And i graphically is pretty different from official Driveclub screenshots after weather announcement this year :

Imp0ssibl33558d ago

That's a bold statement, surely one might discuss the graphics of the two games but gameplay is going to be completely different.

I don't think they will be directly comparable in terms of gameplay.

Driveclub weather system is better in my opinion thaat's all folks.

Mostafeto3558d ago

Totally agree man just look at the droplets on that hood it looks INSANE I don't even care if Slightly Mad Studios add VR support to PC or even Voice-Driving Support :P I will still buy DriveClub for my PS4 It is just better in EVERYTHING

nujack3558d ago

I agree completely. As far as console racing games go, Drive Club looks to be the best. It is just ridiculous how good it looks.

Hyper_Tension1403558d ago (Edited 3558d ago )

Best looking yes, but the best racer for me might be Forza Horizon 2, because my experience with the first was simply amazing.

Maybe is because I dont know much about driveclub yet so for now this is my pick, ill be buying both.(and Project Cars)

But I have to admit, those graphics alone could sell the game:)

NatureOfLogic_3558d ago

The cars in Project Cars don't even look wet in the rain. The cars in Driveclub look like a car should in the rain.

Hyper_Tension1403558d ago (Edited 3558d ago )

I agree, something is off about Project Cars graphics I just cant put my finger in it.

Driveclub looks more true to real life.

Anyway didnt the Wii U version of Project Cars get delayed?

The website says its coming on the same time as the ps4, xbone, and pc.

colonel1793558d ago

Nice avatar dude! LOL

I don't comment on the story because I don't like racing games at all, so... both look good I guess?

Majin-vegeta3558d ago

How about waiting till DC gets the weather patch and then compare them?

Spotie3558d ago

Does it really matter? It's going to look the same or better, in all likelihood.

Imp0ssibl33558d ago

On that I'll have to agree, it already looks fantastic so it seems unlikely that it will change dramatically.

Eonjay3558d ago

Thing is, we want motion guys. Don't really care where the pictures are from, because it doesn't give a real comparison of weather effects as this article's title would leave one to believe. 'Effects' is a concept of things in motion. Whoever produces that video first will have a real story.

WeAreLegion3558d ago

Don't really care to compare them. I just know both look incredible and I'm definitely getting Driveclub. We'll see about Project CARS.

60FPS on PS5: Unofficial PS5 'FPS Boost' mods are radically improving PS4 back compat

Digital Foundry : Whether it's via FPS Boost or bespoke software upgrades, backwards compatibility on the current-gen consoles delivered an unexpected delight - the ability to liberate older console games from their 30fps limits, running them at 60 frames per second or even higher. FPS Boost did the business for Xbox Series consoles on an impressive range of titles, but there was always the sense that PS5 could do more. It's a hunch that checks out as a range of frame-rate unlocks are available for PS5, covering many must-have games - the major caveat being that only exploitable consoles running on older firmwares are invited to the party.

you love to see new life being breathed into older titles but damn the process to get there. It should be automatic that these work for everyone... not just those who exploit their systems. Really wish Sony and MS would keep this program going officially.

Psychonaut8597d ago

Damn this sucks. I want this shit so bad, but I’m not jailbreaking my console. And frankly I shouldn’t have to. I’m not a tech person, but is it really that hard for developers to unlock the framerate? Or would that have to be a large patch?

dveio97d ago (Edited 97d ago )

"but is it really that hard for developers to unlock the framerate?"

I guess it's not.

But it has become a profitable business if you do so.

So no one would pay for only the framerate patched to being unlocked. So studios need to offer more than that.

But this would take more time, polishing and would cost more money. So they shy away, but won't unlock the framerate, either.

That's just my personal assumption. But from what I can comprehend technically, it shouldn't be difficult to unlock framerates via a patch for older games.

... if it hadn't became a business.

RaidenBlack97d ago (Edited 97d ago )

frame-rate unlock should be free ...
We've seen many devs offer free patches and updates to pretty old PC titles, even bonuses ... so why can't devs offer the frame unlock patch for free (in consultation with the platform-producers) for a title from just a generation earlier?

Einhander197297d ago

RaidenBlack

"frame-rate unlock should be free ..."

Obviously the result of that thinking is that developers aren't even going to do it.

If they had been allowed to charge $5-10 you would see incentivized developers doing it way more often.

People just always want everything for free, but it's not free to make the patch, people have to code it then other people have to test it, and there will always be other costs involved.

If people want dollar store gaming then expect to get what you pay for.

shinoff218396d ago (Edited 96d ago )

Raiden I might be wrong but last I thought it cost money to put patches out on consoles.

As far as me paying for it, I'm not all that interested tbh. Not enough to pay for it with older games, and newer games have been pretty decent about it for the most part.

dumahim97d ago

Sounds like the modder has to go in to make changes to unlock it on a game by game basis. "Simple" enough to do it unofficially, but to have it done officially, they need someone to go in a make that change, put out a patch and put it through certification, which I believe is not necessarily a cheap thing to do. It's questionable if going through this would then give them enough sales to make it worthwhile.

Inverno97d ago

Many games still have physics tied to framerate, i think it's cause they wouldn't want to go in and do anything extra. Then there's the 10 dollar upgrades they rather charge. The problem is that there's no compromise, cause if I could mod my PS4 and all I'd lose is online play then id jailbreak it immediately. Mods have done so much for PC games and they could do the same for consoles, but manufacturers hafto be willing to compromise.

shinoff218396d ago

It's not to hard to do and there's youtube videos that break it down really well. ANyway most of us here arent able to break are console anyway due to being up to date on firmware from playing

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 96d ago
Chocoburger97d ago

Yep, this sucks having to require a jailbreak for something that should be standard in our industry by now. I learned my lesson when PS4 was jailbroken and I didn't keep a console on low firmware for years, but now I'm holding onto two low firmware PS5s specifically because there are features I'll be able to do that you can't do on official firmware, so this will pay off for me soon enough.

Jin_Sakai97d ago

It should be a sin to let these games sit and be stuck at 30fps.

EazyC97d ago

RDR 2 not getting a 60FPS patch for PS5 was a crime.

Why did EA Kill Project CARS?

This video explains why we think Electronic Arts didn't see a future in the sim racing title Project CARS and promptly cancelled the fourth instalment.

Jin_Sakai524d ago

After the last installment I’d say most hardcore fans left. It’s just not that good anymore so I can’t really blame EA this time.

masterfox524d ago

because it was always a project and it never got finished :D

ChubbyBlade522d ago

Every game is a project. Your joke doesn’t make sense

InUrFoxHole522d ago

It makes perfect sense. It's obviously a play on the title. Jesus christ you must be a blast at parties.

ApocalypseShadow523d ago (Edited 523d ago )

Ask Bullfrog or Black Box or Tiburon or Studio 33 or Criterion or any of the previously acquired developers who made racing games as competition, or as developers of EA games, then eventually dissolved into oblivion or reassigned. Just ask them. They'll tell you why.

ApocalypseShadow522d ago

Oh. I forgot. Even Code Masters were absorbed into Criterion. Another racing developer EA took over.

Every racing developer either absorbed by EA or eventually destroyed by them. They either kill competition or have them in the end make Need 4 Speed for them.

MadLad522d ago

EA only cancels projects for one reason.
They didn't see enough money in it.

Kombatologist522d ago (Edited 522d ago )

Not when it's because it didn't meet some crazy margin. It's like if something doesn't make EA a billion dollars on day one (I'm exaggerating that figure of course), they swiftly put it out to pasture.

SurgicalMenace522d ago (Edited 522d ago )

Much like if you're spending money on what's a bad investment for your desired goals, you'd do away with it, if you're wise. We should try to get away from thinking we know more about business than individuals that have been doing it for decades. Perhaps you could benefit from going into business instead of wasting all of your talents in comment sections. It's clear that you're the missing piece that EA's been looking for.

MadLad521d ago

I've made a good amount of money betting on underdog investments over the years.

EA sets unrealistic expectations of their more niche developers, yet continue to fund absolute blunders like DICE and the Battlefield series year after year.

dumahim522d ago

EA butted in and messed with the formula and act shocked when it doesn't work out.

Original Project CARS creator trying to re-hire EA team

Ian Bell, the founder of Slightly Mad Studios, is aiming to hire former Project CARS employees to work on his upcoming GTR Revival project.

Sgt_Slaughter526d ago

If it's just going to be another sim-cade that doesn't do either one correctly then no thanks.

Project CARS 2 was a step in the right direction but the physics still aren't where they should have been, so what did they do for PC3? Go completely arcade. That killed the franchise.
