The PlayStation Vita Offerings: Throbbing Hearted Disappointment

The first week of every month, Short Pause breaks down the games offered to PlayStation Plus subscribers. Every week after that, they focus on one platform and discuss their experiences with just those games. This week, the Vita gets a spin.

The author writes about how neither Doki-Doki Universe, nor Muramasa Rebirth struck a chord with him, but he appreciates aspects of both. Will he continue playing them? Well...

Sony continue to dominate even the HANDHELD market. :)

I know it's like when people say they enjoy their Wii U more then PS4, it's impossible because of sales.

I have to admit though those 3DS numbers are crazy good. Nintendo deserve it because those numbers support gaming and make game stops not close down, lol.

@TongkatAli

dominating =/=enjoyment

LMAO really dude

Lol 3DS is Killing the Vita and as a owner of both the Vita and 3DS 3DS just has a better library of games.

xazingop3569d ago (Edited 3569d ago )

yes true 3ds has better kids games and baby games than ps vita

nope1113569d ago

Yes, with endless rehashes, chibi RPGs, annualized Pokemons, and casual shovelware.

Muramasa Rebith is awesome. Play it some more and try out the DLCs. Doki-Doki sucks though.

bmbnbs3570d ago

I certainly don't HATE Muramasa, but a few bosses in hasn't grabbed me.

I heard the DLC has characters that don't use swords? How's that?

TongkatAli3570d ago (Edited 3570d ago )

Dlc is much better then the original game. You play as a little cat and do off the hook combos and the cat woman is gangsta. The second dlc you play as a farmer who fights his government because of high taxation.

Das is gud!

There's a good bunch of Vita games that are worth looking into.

imXify3570d ago

I wasn't tempted to launch Muramasa Rebirth the first time but ever since I launched I'm playing it non stop like crazy! I got Momohime and Kisuke both at lvl 99. But I want more so I'll get the DLCs.

I also never played this kind of game before but I like it so much that I want to get Dragon's Crown.

bmbnbs3570d ago

I feel like Dragon's Crown might be more up my alley.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3569d ago (Edited 3569d ago )

you mean Dragon Crown feel like Muramasa since it came out on Wii in 2009.

TheGrimReaper00113569d ago

Get Dragon's Crown, it's awesome :D

It could have had a bit more meat (few more stages) but it's hella fun. Besides, I believe right now it's for free on PS+ for PS Vita? At least in Europe

DualWielding3569d ago

Dragon's Crown was a free PS+ title in Europe so it may be coming to NA before the end of the year (Muramasa came a few months after it came for Europe)

RexDD3570d ago

Murumasa Rebirth is amazing! Sorry but I really can't take agree with there.

bmbnbs3570d ago

No worries, friend. To each their own. Thanks!

RexDD3570d ago

Lol I butchered that sentence. Sorry, english isn't my native language. Let me fix that, to save my dignity:

Murumasa Rebirth is amazing! Sorry but I really can't agree with you there.*

10 Games That are Best on Vita

VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "Thanks to the timing of the Vita’s release and its relative power compared to the home consoles at the time (PS3 & Xbox 360), it saw the benefit of a number of these late ports which have remained the ‘definitive’ versions to this day. It’s these games that I’m aiming to look at in this article – titles that are best on Vita by virtue of extra bells and whistles, tweaked controls, and content, or in some cases just a general feeling that Sony’s portable hardware is the most enjoyable way to play."

Ooh, Virtua Tennis 4 for the win!

Gravity Rush, still great, but the screen aiming made it better on Vita

Rating Each of the Vita's Localization Studios

VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "What I aim to examine in this article is the output of each of the major localization companies, in terms of what they released, what they chose not to release (including when they localized titles for other platforms but skipped the Vita version), as well as some brief commentary on the quality of their translations, before providing an overall rating on their support (outstanding -> amazing – > good -> solid -> poor).

A large part of the reason I love Vita so much is thanks to its brilliant selection of Japanese games and that’s really what I want to celebrate here, but also lament some of the missed opportunities we had along the way."
