Destiny Concerns: The Potential Faults Of This Year’s Biggest Game

WGTC writes: Time might seem to be going a bit slowly for Destiny fans right now, but fear not, because the beta is about to launch. Like so many others, my interest in the game has risen considerably since playing the first look alpha. There was a huge difference between seeing video of Destiny, and actually getting to play it myself, and I can now safely say that I am officially exited for this game.

I can't wait to try the beta. Hopefully it ends up being good.

Regis3568d ago

Not to be to picky but I wish they would have more gun types. A revolver is the only type of pistol I saw. So I will be happy if they add more gun types.

Nathan893568d ago

I think their will be we have to assume they have a whole arsenal of guns to level cap and then a lot more once you hit that. We are just seeing a fraction.

philm873568d ago

There's loads of guns I'm sure. There were a lot more pistol's etc. to buy, mostly need to get to the level for them or find the things that you take to the decoder guy to get more weapons.

SamPao3568d ago

Revolver is the coolest gun anyway
:)

Nathan893568d ago

I agree. Have to wait until xbox one though on the 23rd..... and a beta code.

Just remember this...it is an mmo. This mean that unlike other games, they will have a full team continuously working on patches, fixes and dlc. This also means that as a community it is our duty to voice our opinions often.

Mmo's r wonderful b/c great devs like FF14 for example do listen and content is always added. So I fully want something, just speak up. Bungie will listen...and activision will pay for it...lol!

Seriously. Destiny needs a chat box, even if its rudimentary. Something to shout to other players. Also, it will need some type of crafting system. I know it has spindles etc. That is a good start. But yeah, I cant wait. It looks insane.

Respawn was only that way on the explore missions (and only in the main area) and didn't notice this in the story mission so don't think that's a problem.

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter330d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell329d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig330d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast330d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g330d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka329d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai481d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface480d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard477d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
