What type of Japanese games I'm asking like JRPGs, fighting games, strategy, fantasy, anime, FPS, and or all them, What type of Japanese games MS.

JackOfAllBlades3564d ago (Edited 3564d ago )

Kinectimals: Japan, Titanfall: Gundam Edition, Halo: Samurai Edition, etc etc

turdburgler10803564d ago

Omg if they had titanfall gundam edition and we didnt I'd be Pissed;-)

JackOfAllBlades3563d ago

Who disagreed with all my great ideas!>!!<!<!<!> ;>!?!?!?!

Lightning Mr Bubbles3564d ago (Edited 3564d ago )

Whatever

Nothing XBOX has ever really been too popular in Japan.

AngelicIceDiamond3564d ago (Edited 3564d ago )

People seem to forget that the Xbox 360 started out pretty well in japan. Allot better than OG Xbox.

The marketing was there the price was there and most importantly the games were there.

Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Star Ocean, Enchant Arms, DOA 4, The Last Remnant and Tales of Vesperia.

Pushed some sales in for MS in that region. Especially The Lost Odyssey and Blue dragon.

I'll say its partially MS fault for backing down so soon from there great push. They saw sales were slow and not as fast and US or anywhere else.

Which is why 360 is no longer existent in Japan as of now.

If Phil was smart he would continue to push that region and invest in new games.

I highly advise MS release D4, Sunset Overdrive and KI Forza Horizon 2 even the new Ip's such as Scale bound and the newly resurrected mega cult hit Phantom Dust.

I heard that game sold pretty well over there. Even if it did make up most PD small install base.

I expect some surprises at the TGS. Maybe a Blue Dragon 2?

Lost Odyssey 2?

Whatever it is MS shouldn't give up so easy over there. Just keep up the content of games keep investing give Japan a reason to buy. Hopefully they'll come and hopefully stick this time around.

kingdom183564d ago

I'd love another Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon... but please don't remind me about Tales of Vesperia.... it still makes me so sad....

.... I agree pushing things like Scalebound and Phantom Dust would do them well.

....... but please... they need to keep their paws off of Tales... I couldn't stand it if another thing like Vesperia happened, think what made it worse is its my favorite Tales game....

.... oh well... I can still learn Japanese.....

christocolus3564d ago (Edited 3564d ago )

Wow..I hope we get a new otogi, lost odysee and more games like dark souls&chrome hounds. I enjoyed the first Blinx too and it wouldn't be a bad idea if MS created an exclusive ip in the survival horror genre.. Ms needs to invest big in this type of games. Looking forward to TGS.

Abriael3564d ago

Me too. This year I'll be there. Gonna be fun. I've not been at TGS for three years, and I miss Tokyo :D

christocolus3564d ago (Edited 3564d ago )

That's great. You living the life man but wait any chance i could come along with you? You'd just pack me along with your luggage. Lol.

Make sure you get us previews of all the great games at the show.

@nextlevel

Yeah Jade empire was great. Would be nice is MS got a sequel or even a reboot of the original out on xbox one.

Abriael3564d ago (Edited 3564d ago )

Haha man, believe me, gaming events like E3, Gamescom and TGS lose a lot of their luster after you get back to the hotel after at the end of the second day and you feel pretty much like a walking corpse, while your feet feel like they've been beaten with an excavator head.

Still, I miss TGS because for a Japanese game lover like me, it really has a different atmosphere compared to other shows. Also, tokyo is an awesome city, so I'll probably wander around in the evenings despite the hurting feet :D

DanielGearSolid3564d ago

I have to go to TGS, b4 I die

NextLevel3564d ago

LO and CH are 2 IPs Microsoft should pursue, but aren't. Jade Empire aswell.

KonsoruMasuta3564d ago

The funny things is they actually own the Lost Odyssey IP. It was part of the 2nd party deal they made.

They're just sitting on it and doing nothing with it.

OpieWinston3564d ago

At this point Microsoft needs to invest in building new studios.

Dedicated Studios.
Action Adventure
RPG

Are two that should be at the top of their list. X1 is pretty diverse with games lineup right now but it's time to bring more First/Second party studios.

ABizzel13564d ago

Congrats to them for trying, but I really don't think it's worth all the effort, because I doubt it'll work out for them.

That being said more games are always welcomed, and hopefully Japanese devs, can bounce back from the last-gen on all platforms, with these consoles being easier to developer for.

AngelicIceDiamond3564d ago

Otogi? Oh no you didn't just go there...

They better keep this promise. I remember when I bought my Xbox 360 along with Blue Dragon. I loved all the exclusive Japanese games 360 had

Rumble Roses XX
Lost Odyssey
Dead or Alive Xtreme 2
Ninja Gaiden 2
Blue Dragon
Dead or Alive 4
etc...

Those days gave me memories. Then Microsoft forgot all about the Japanese market, started targeting dude bros, and left me scratching my head wondering what happened.

MASTER_RAIDEN3564d ago

surprised that would leave anyone scratching their head. Microsoft made multiple solid efforts to make a dent in japan and received nothing from the Japanese audience in return. why in the world would any company continue to make games for an audience that wont buy their product?

being a sony guy myself, microsoft was always a distant second. but even i have to admit that microsoft made 3 damn fine consoles over the last 10+ years. there is NO reason why xbox products should do as bad as they do in japan.
at this point i wonder why theyre even bothering with pushing the xbox one in JP. there was no push quite as big as the xbox 360's push a few years back. why in the world would you waste money an resources to see the same outcome for a third time in a row?

christocolus3564d ago

Lol. I think I remember rumble roses. Wasn't that the female wrestling game? I played the demo once but my brother kept going back to it..lmao.

KonsoruMasuta3564d ago

Yeah, it was an all female wrestling game made by Konami.

All of the girls wore fetishistic outfits and it had a photo mode and adjustable camera that allowed you to zoom in on "the action".

lameguy3564d ago

But - Are they coming to the West? That kind of matters more because I don't see them doing so great in Japan itself any time soon...

MegaRay3564d ago

As long as Japanese developers still developing games for PS3, I dont see any reason for me to upgrade.... yeah call me anime nerd, but I just rather anime/semi realistic games than realistic game (except infamous :D)

So maybe Microsoft Studios Osaka is real after all , I hope it's true , after all Phil Spencer have to be sneaky when talking business side. *dreams*

Abriael3578d ago

I seriously doubt it. There's a fine line between being sneaky and outright lying, and if Osaka studio existed, it would have been a clear cut lie.

Spencer doesn't strike me as the kind of person who would lie through his teeth like that.

Golden_Mud3578d ago

I guess we'll never know

mrpsychoticstalker3578d ago

totally agree, Phil is not that type of Boss.

BlackWolf123578d ago

A Microsoft Executive lying about his product?

Well I guess that is TOTALLY UNHEARD OF.

/sarcasm.

And I'm not just talking about the XBox product.

k3rn3ll3578d ago

Dude many of execs have "lied" about there product. In this case it would be revealing issue that they were planning for later. Thats not unheard of. /nosarcasm. I wouldnt be hurt by that white lie that hurt no one. On another note hundreds of CEO have been caught living about products for a great many number of products. In the long run PR is hard to manage, plans for future product, hopes for future product, all while not wanting to disappoint when "shit happens".

This industry is filled with past lies from execs and companies that never came to fruition

TheKing013578d ago

this spamming needs to stop. Dualshockers is consistently posting articles, some being blatant off-shoots of other articles, in an attempt to get as many views as possible.

the Xbox One is going to fail in Japan. it's that simple. there's no "slight chance", there's no "secret weapon", it'll flop. The PS Vita TV had high pre-orders (in fact, it was sold out on Amazon) and tanked hilariously despite reports that would have indicated the contrary. and that's in a region where the Playstation brand has historically thrived, versus the Xbox brand which is essentially non-existent.

Xbox fanboys have been practicing this trend this whole generation, and it's getting to the point of embarrassment. "Watch, Titanfall will change things, you'll see!", "Watch, E3 will change things, you'll see!", "Watch, the price drop will change things, you'll see!". and in none of these circumstances, was there ever any evidence suggesting anything was going to change.

I'll reiterate: The Xbox One is going to flop in Japan. anyone thinking otherwise, similar to Titanfall, E3 2014 and Microsoft's Resident Evil 7, GTA V next-gen, and Mass Effect 4 exclusives, and price drop, will end up being once again: disappointed.

Darkstares3578d ago

Feel better getting all of that off of your chest?

This is about Japan and XB1, not Titanfall, not price drops, and not anything else that you feel you need to set the record on. So if anyone is spamming it's you.

"Izumi-san mentoned that the console’s preorder numbers are within expectations and that the Day One Edition (including Kinect Sports Rivals and Titanfall bundled with the console and Kinect) is going strong, and apparently the version with Kinect included is more popular."

That's what this topic is about. There were no numbers given, just that they are so far within there expectations, whatever those numbers may be. So why don't you relax?

"They know they have an uphill battle to fight in the archipelago of the rising sun, and they definitely seem to want to bring their A game."

The article also admits they have an uphill battle so what exactly are you trying to prove here?

60FramesPerSecond3578d ago

Xbox One may do well in Japan. We have no idea. History changes.
Will the xb1 get a savior in the form of
1)cloud
2)secret sause
3)esram
4)dx12?
No, and any reasonable Xbox fan accepts that. As a gaming fan in general, and a consumer planning on having both systems, but xb1 being my main game console for multiplayer games, I know the Xb1 is underpowered. The ps4 is also, but still has great advantages over xb1. I still will enjoy my games, regardless of graphics. or resolution, regardless of the system.

christocolus3578d ago

Wow.. Way to go off topic. You must be upset.

k3rn3ll3578d ago

What scale are we going to use for it. Are we talking just the launch or gen as whole? Is it based on the sales of the 360 launch says life long sales? If its just launch 62000 doesn't seem to hard to beat.

Its ridiculous to think one thing will save a console for its entire life. People wanted to say that Mario kart 8 would save the wii. Yea it greatly improved sales but people arent going to buy the Wii 2.5 years from now because of MK. It is always a cumulative group of things. That being said improvements are beginning to stack up for the One over the past 4 months or so. MS knows this and thats why the havent slowed down in getting good press for the One after a very rough year being shit on. And I dont see that stopping any time soon because they continue to announce changes in policy and a steady stream of updates every. Throw in to boot the respectable growth of how they will handle GWG on One, and having Spencer take over who we know for a fact is going to make it a point to get the Exclusives rolling along the way it was for so long on on 360.

People can talk all the craping they want about MS doing so many 180's on stuff that alot of people. But the ones that act like that is a bad thing are just ignorant. It may look bad to shareholders, but the consumer has steadily been winning as a result. Maybe its just people considering how long the PS3 was in the shit before they turned it around. But Sony did nothing to rectify their situation after its launch for at 3 years. Partly because they were so damn arrogant. MS isnt showing us that anymore so alot of us are alot more optimistic now as a direct result. So please stop with the hate speeches and war mongering. Its quite tired now

beerzombie3578d ago

Sony is failing in Japan too, by your method of thinking. Japan is a shrinking market, because they are a mobile people and have very small homes and work a lot of hours. I lived there in the 80'3 for three years as a child and it was that way then arcades were huge back then every one went there and hung out.

PlatinumGames is located in Osaka.
They work for an exclusive title for Xbox One.
I assume that caused the "Microsoft Studios Osaka" rumor.

truefan13578d ago

This is the gen XB1 puts up respectable numbers relative to the ps4 and Wii U. Too bad the XB1 is launching post tax hike because the console is actually gaining some momentum. XB1 already has those 3 visual novels, D4, and other 3 unannounced exclusives lined up for TGS.

chrisarsenalsavart3578d ago

They can,t do any worst than x360 numbers.
Good luck to them. God knows they re gonna need it

MS will be happy if they gain any ground at all.

RiPPn3578d ago

So 5 people bought it with and 4 bought it without.

PixelNinja3578d ago

It's been topping quite a few Japanese shopping site, heck, it's at the top of Yodobashi, they're a big retailer.

jnemesh3578d ago

So, much like the launch in the US and EU, it will sell incredibly well at launch, then stagnate on shelves.

I have a VERY hard time with his statement that Kinect is popular in Japan, as they rejected it wholesale last gen. Most gamers simply don't have enough room at home to use one!

SideNote3578d ago

I actually think xbox wan will do well, i really do. Good luck to them and fingers crossed for some jpegs.

PixelNinja3578d ago

You want them to deliver Rasterized Images?

I think you mean JRPGs.

Too little too late for the Xbox one. Look at the sales right now.. It's almost 2:1 in favor of PS4.

XiNarutoUzumaki3590d ago

That's good for the 5 Americans who are going to buy one in Japan

SniperControl3590d ago

@choujij

Pretty damning evidence really, the X1 is gonna fail over there, saying that though, the PS4 is not having a good time either, but i do expect it to sell a hell of a lot more than the X1.

Fringe_Agent133590d ago

@Choujij
"What's an Xbox?" LOL!

Julion07153590d ago

Dude like why are you always the first one to comment on every x1 article? Half the time its non sense

Eonjay3590d ago (Edited 3590d ago )

"We’ll have to stand by and see if it’ll do better than many expect."

Well, I think the best thing is to have no expectations whatsoever or keep them realistically low. If it matches the 360, that would be great. I expect the Xbox Brand to experience a boost in console sales of several orders of magnitude compared to the 150 or so they currently sell a week. It may even outsell the PS4 for a week.

Godmars2903590d ago

Yes, just reacting to title. And no, trying to spin launching after the PS4 does not make sense. Not with the brands rep there if they expect to make gains - when they need to make gains just to justify being there.

What exclusives they have likewise better be worth as much as they expect/hope to deliver.

Eldyraen3590d ago

I just hope this means MS went all out and has some solid exclusives for TGS or at least better support from Asian devs/pubs (Japan has biggest market but other countries have a few companies that could be easier for MS to get into the door with). The Last Odyssey was one of the best JRPGs last gen IMO and would love another or something else on its level.

Sony stomped MS's offering of JRPGs still but for the first 2-3 years the 360 actually had several good/great JRPGs.

Godmars2903590d ago

No. Most of the PS3's JRPG were on the 360 first, by and for a wide margin in fact, but then showed up with additional content.

Also most of them, including LO, were little more than PS2 level titles which did nothing to improve the genre.

I mean where 16bit era games had full on cutscenes for flashbacks, LO had text.

And as I have always said in the many - many - LO arguments, it wasn't a bad game, it was just a retro game.

Eldyraen3590d ago

I would argue many, not most, of PS3's JRPGs were early 360 exclusives but a lot of its best were released on both at the same time, true exclusives, or even remake/rereleases like Ni No Kuni (still not on Xbox which is why it is relevant). There are only really 3 or 4 360 jrpg "exclusives" that I can think of that went to the PS3.

Lost Odyssey was good because of its story (first disc was strongest) not because it was revolutionary (same for others). It wasn't the best ever but where the 360 is concerned it was probably top 3 for many but wouldn't had been on top of any cross platform lists for the generation most likely.

Granted my definition for JRPG also includes tactical JRPGs and other subgenres which the 360 got fewer of (some of these were Vita/PS3 releases). But to each their own as this is just my opinion.

Godmars2903590d ago

Early JRPGs. By the time hey started showing up on the PS3 on a regular basis they were all but absent on the 360. That there are two remembered 360 JRPGs, Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey should be a bad thing.

And that's including the FF13 trilogy, which while multi is considered to be a PS3 failure.

SniperControl3590d ago

The Japanese just aren't interested in the xbox brand, the 360 in Japan actually had a handful of good JRPG's, but no one really cared for it in the end.

I mean c'mon, if the PS4 is struggling over there, what chance does the X1 have. Lol
