Lab Zero Games Looking to Bring Dualshock 3 to PS4

Skullgirls developer Lab Zero Games are looking for somebody to help them develop a Dualshock 3 driver for PlayStation 4. It seems like Sony have allowed for developers to write drivers for "unsupported USB devices," presumably allowing for individual title support of things like Rockband instruments, however Lab Zero's Mike Z is hoping to bring back last-gen's controller for Skullgirls Encore.

no kiddin, i have alot of DS3 laying around and i wont buy more than 2 DS4 so it will be good to play multiplayer games with 2 DS4s and 2 DS3s

I think the aim for this is to allow PS3 arcade sticks to work on PS4.

When's the PS4 version coming out?

The DS4 has triggers that are more in tune with shooting games than fighting games so that alone could be reason enough to want to use a DS3.
Aside from that there's the local multiplayer thought seeing as many PS4 owners might not have a second DS4 but are likely to have a DS3 lying around.
The DS3 also has pressure sensitive buttons though I doubt Skullgirls utilizes that feature on PS3.

dualshock3 is crap, rather just make dualshock 4 compatible with all ps3 games so I dont have to use it nomore

last ps3 update and everyone that's in psN beta are able to do this so your wish has been granted already bummer.

Wescyde3565d ago

Outside of how long the battery lasts in a DS3, the DS4 is 10X better in every way.

DeadlyOreo3565d ago

Completely agree. I love the Dualshock 4, but the battery life for it is the bane of my life.

Master-H3565d ago

That'd be great for local play

BitbyDeath3565d ago

Yup, this.
I already have two PS4 controllers so it would be great if I could use some PS3 controllers for four player games.

I love this game. It's not perfect - as no fighting game ever will be - but it takes so many good ideas for gameplay mechanics and makes them work. So much so, in fact, that every other fighting game on the market should be taking notes.

Seriously, the fact that the Infinite Prevention System exists only to stop people who abuse the exact same input strings - thus keeping long combos part of the game - is nothing short of inspired. That, and who else allows you to overlay hit / hurt / collision boxes on characters during practice modes?

Made by fighting game players, for fighting game players.

Skullgirls Encore will be backwards compatible with the Xbox One

We continue with the round of Xbox 360 games that are added backwards compatibility on the Xbox One; in this case we speak of Skullgirls Encore an arcade fighting game that had a good acceptance in the Xbox 360.

Currently, the studio Autum Games does not have a release date so we can play this title on Xbox One, but if they give confirmation of its arrival via Twitter.

So we can only hope to continue to complete the list, recently we learned that in August we will have important news regarding this topic

Checking In On The Status Of Skullgirls

Stephen East writes: "SkullGirls is unique in the world of crowdfunding in that the developers Reverge Labs had already released the game. The game was co-published and financed by Autumn Games and Konami however due to a series of events, including a lawsuit, the development team disbanded only to later reform under the name Lab Zero Games. Back with Autumn Games, who now own the Skullgirls brand completely, the plan was to support the game with updates and more content but due to the the litigation that Autumn Games were still under the funding dried up; and thus the need for the IndieGogo campaign."

Skullgirls is a fantastic fighter. Looking forward to the Vita release.

KryptoniteTail3252d ago

Skullgirls Vita will be awesome. I wish it got more Fighting games. I was sad Pocket Rumble never came to Vita.
