Rumor: Take Two porting Max Payne 3 for next gen

According to a retailer source, Max Payne 3 is coming to the PS4 and Xbox One this Winter.

It was a great game but barely felt like Max Payne imo. Bullet time and character name
/backstory were almost only parallels as the story itself didn't have the same vibe.

I enjoyed it though and on PC it was gorgeous for its time.

Agreed, the setting is what sucked the most in my opinion, Brazil is boring, that flash back usa mission was probably the best. Also the removal of the ridiculous big gun collection he used to carry on him in the previous titles.

It was a half decent story. Not a story I would play again. The multiplayer wasn't anything ground breaking. Waste of development money. Focusing on Max Payne 4.

There will be no Max Payne 4 in my opinion. There's absolutely nothing left for Max, his former colleagues, his job, his love, his femme fatale and even his shitty apartment(s) are all gone. Nothing to come back to except his body in a bag after the stupid decisions he made in MP3.

Actually, when I think about it. He could go in guns blazing cleaning New Jersey of the ones after him. All for the sake of greater good since there's nothing else to do. And Rockstar could write in that easter egg from Alan Wake regarding Max. It would be a nice way to end the series and it would be in the tone of the previous games.

The game was a mess and it's mediocre sells proves it. If all your game is is a pile of slo motion shoot outs , at least have decent controls and a story that makes sense. The game was just too sloppy.

While i did enjoy Max Payne 3, a lot. I have to agree, i dont know a single person who has said "Damn, i wish they would remaster Max Payne 3 on the new consoles."

I'm assuming 4 is in the works after hearing about this. It may be like Tomb Raider where the game didn't perform as well as they wanted so sort of cashing in on remaster bandwagon before announcing a new game.

At least I hope so as remakes are cool but there are a ton I would prefer over this no matter how great the game was.

fair enough. I mean I purchased the "Definitive Edition" of Tomb Raider on PS4. I don't mind it when they do these things once and a while. I just hope this isn't Sony's way of addressing a sparse calendar. We'll just fill up the extra spaces with games you just played last year but this time in HD.

Can't really put any blame on Sony if Take 2 decide to publish yet another remake.

If even half these remake rumours turn out to be true then it has to be considered a big trend in the industry. You can understand it, the development costs are low so it's a relatively safe investment in a high risk industry.

I think some of these remakes will serve to highlight just how unimpressive these consoles are in terms of hardware though, because in most cases they will fall short of the PC version that launched several years ago...

I think a lot of that has to do with how messy the code for Red Dead is. They said that was a major factor in not releasing it on PC. I don't know the actual reasons, but that information might help.

ENOUGH already with all the HD remasters! Unless you are doing collections of games aka Master Chief collection where its 3 or 4 games all re-done and an actual value beyond the orignial game and dlc please just stop. This is why we got no backwards compatibility... so these companies could resell us the same games from a year or two ago and make it sound like they are doing us a service. Its far cheaper to them to remaster vs make a new IP.

This generation is turning into a steaming pile because of this. Why make new games or give backwards compatibility whew we have millions of idiots who will buy the same game again a year or two later because its "HD remastered".

GOTY editions are just as bad imo especially when they get re-released at full boat price just because they include all the dlc. They are another fine example of easy cash grabs.

I don't mind remasters i can see why they would do it for Gears, uncharted, last of US and halo, but games like this don't need remastering.

Day 1 for any and all games you listed ;) there are a few others I would probably buy but those are ones I think warrant it most. Basically games that really helped define the generation for their respective platform (so mostly exclusives).

A few third party wouldn't hurt but I would probably prefer a single new game over remastered collection for most. Borderlands for example I could see get a "complete edition" at some point including pre-sequel but in truth I would prefer a new Borderlands on new consoles from the ground up.

Plus the multiplayer isn't good, the story is linear and can be completed in 10 hours.

I'd much rather have a Max Payne 1/2 remake, or a new sequel NOT done by Rockstar.

well the problem is , the only studio that can actually perform a true sequel to Max Payne is Remedy Entertainment , but the real problem right now , that company is actually preferring the Xbox , so I don't think it's possible to announced a sequel developed by other companies than R*

I'm ok with this, as it was one of my surprise "hits" of last gen (just my opinions). Really enjoyed it, and will probably pick it up on X1 or PS4, if the price is right.

Not sure why people get so worked up over ports like this. If you dont want it, then don't buy it. It's not like its draining an entire studios resources to put these out. They can easily work on ports and new games at the same time. This isnt re-inventing the wheel, it's porting a game with enhanced visuals.
