Keiji Inafune: From Capcom to Kickstarter

Ever since the early days of the Kickstarter boom, there has been a lingering doubt over how long the good times could possibly last. As the multimillion dollar campaigns began to stack up - from Double Fine, from inXile, from Ouya - it didn't take long for the discussion around crowdfunding to be tainted by pessimism. Crowdfunding seemed like a utopian ideal for game development, but many believed that even one high-profile failure could upset the delicate relationship between creator and player on which the idea rested, poisoning the well for everybody.

Crapcom is just watching in the shadows. If Might No. 9 does crazy sales #s, suddenly talk of a possible Megaman revival will start dribbling out of Crapcom's frothy mouths.

I'm a firm believer that hand held games should stay exclusively on handheld systems but Soul Sacrifice is the exception to that rule. I would LOVE s console port of that game. Hopefully he's working on both.

asking money to people to make a game is pretty much a step down to me when you were at capcom before.

crowdfunding shouldnt exist at the first place. Just look at how many game asking for money on kickstarter, its just ridiculous.

Asking money on ks is just the easy way out to do a game cause at the end, they dont owe us anything except the shit you get when you pay 20$ (as an exemple)

Its not like when an investor loan you some money and at the end of the day you must pay give him his money back...

time to time, he have been asked if he would return to Capcom and he replied something like this:, "With the right conditions he would go back" and at the same time in other interviews he stated something like, that he wouldn't go back to that horrible place that stole from and use him.
