If you’re a multiplayer console gamer, an Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus subscription is pretty much essential, and even those who tend to stick to single-player can get a fair bit of value from either prospect. Let’s run down the two services and see what each brings to the table.
The Xbox 360 launched in North America 18 years ago, and is now officially old enough to buy you a drink in Europe.
Great platform, and many of its games (not bc) still hold up well to this day. Like the PS3, I keep a 360 hooked up for those games you can't play any other way.
The last gasp of greatness from XBox, you are missed, except the RROD that was lame, but amazing exclusives until the Kinect dropped.
I really enjoyed my X360, some great exclusives on it. Used to play the shit out ot Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, two masterpieces
It's been 20 years to the day since Xbox Live brought online play to consoles.
I remember when Live turned five and they had special edition controllers made and everything. Kind of wished they would do that again for the 20th.
Happy Birthday. OG XBL (and later 360 XBL) really revolutionized online gaming on console.
Never understood the obsession with live...but I was gaming online on PC so not sure too much of what live did that the PlayStation didn't.
Today would of been the perfect day to drop halo 2 the original bc version free on gwg.... If only
Xbox Live 1.0, the first instance of online servers for the original Xbox, is set to return via Insignia, a free third-party service that's currently compatible with 20 titles, such as Call of Duty: Finest Hour and Counter-Strike.
Sony has the better plan but MS is improving alot.
But having a ps3,vita and ps4 you are getting your money's worth.
If you own all three consoles from Sony it's pretty hard to argue against it's value from the simple fact that MS doesn't make a handheld so there would be less content by default.
If you don't then it's really a toss up honestly and I don't think their is a clear winner. Of course there are services you prefer but arguments could be made for both.
If the lists of games offered by both services is compared objectively, Playstation Plus is definitely the better value of the two services.
There were 144 games offered for the PS3 by PS Plus since 6/29/2010
There were 12 games offered for the PS4 by PS Plus since 11/15/2014
There have been 44 games offered for the Vita by PS+ since 11/20/2012
And there were 87 games that were offered cross platform PS1, 2, 3, PSP, PSVita by PS+ since 6/29/2010
Total - 287 games offered by PS+ since June 2010. Over the past 4 years, that's an average of 70 games per year, 6 games per month.
Xbox Live Games With Gold - short list
3 games offered on Xbox One
28 games offered for Xbox 360 since 6/10/2013
Basicly 1 year of service, 31 games, average of 3 games per month.
6 games per month vs 3 games per month and PS+ is 10 dollars less.
Need I say more?
ps plus on ps3 is pretty damn good and the only reason its lacking on the ps4 is because they maybe want to make as much money as possible before giving games away free.
