July is officially the worst month to be a console gamer

MMGN writes: Last night I spent five hours playing a game on my iPad. Five. Hours. So bad was my addiction to Civilization Revolution 2 that I lost track of time (read: forgot) and left my girlfriend waiting in the cold at the train station. I’m an awful boyfriend but, evidently, a really good Civ player, so I think it balances out.

There’s a reason why I dedicated so much time to my iPad, and it’s not only because the game I was playing was so addictive: it’s also because, as a console gamer, there’s nothing to play.

Better get on those Steam Sales in June and have tons of games to play throughout the summer and beyond.

alexkoepp3578d ago

July does suck. Best game is TLoU remake? Super weak. I don't know why people don't make summer games... Sure people spend more time outdoors, but we also have more free time than ever, and we don't have any games worth playing. Summer time is a gem devs just don't take advantage of.

@Alex

At least if your a PS4 owner you have games to play for July, not so much for Xbox One

Eonjay3578d ago

Its actually kinda smart for them to release the game during July. There is literally no competition (even weaker) and the only other thing going on is a the Destiny beta.

There's such an absurd amount of games thatvwere made between 1985(my limit) and now that you have to be the pickiest person in the world to not find something to play. For me what I do is catch up on franchises. This summer I'm doin Ys games. Last summer was all of the metal gear franchise. 2012 Was rachet&clank, 2011 was most of the final fantasy games. Ect....
And if you have a decent PC you can emulate ALOT of games for low-cost. Hell my S3 can emulate anything pre-32 bit era. Games are freaking everywhere Bro. Sometimes I wonder if i'll ever get to play all the games people reccomend to me lol.

July is always the weakest month of the year... that and December. You have the summer lull, and then everything comes out before Christmas, so July and December are lame. We should all be used to it by now.

kratoz12093578d ago

Unless you have never played the last of us than consider it one of your most cherished months

TankCrossing3578d ago (Edited 3578d ago )

Lots of people put this theory forward that releasing games in the summer would assure great sales, but you can be certain that the publishers that avoid releasing games in that window do so because of cold hard numbers.

Having said that, the Steam summer sales seem to do OK so there is a hungry audience that probably would chow down on the right game. Or better yet, a console summer sale. Give us last year's launch titles for about $10-20, that'd make summers a good time for most gamers :)

If you're a gamer, there's always something to play. The re-release of rise of nations has kept me busy lately along with SC blacklist both on pc.

I'm sorry author, but i'm a ps4 owner and i have TLOU Remastered to play in july so i have no idea what the hell you're talking about.

XiYakushijuAkeginuXi3578d ago (Edited 3578d ago )

What do you expect, it is a Microsoft website. Xbox players are the only ones who will have it the worst in July

masterfox3578d ago

same here I haven't played TLOU.

Scatpants3578d ago

You are in for a treat. I wish I could erase my memory and play it again for the first time.

pandehz3578d ago

Umm what if someone already played TLOU?

johndoe112113578d ago

I have it hardcopy and digital for the ps3 and finished it 3 times already. What's your point?

XiYakushijuAkeginuXi3578d ago

What if someone already played Halo?

kratoz12093578d ago

Than your in for a treat cause you can catch up on games you have not completed yet

TheDevKit3578d ago

Hey, at least console gamers are finally getting a game that runs at 1080p and 60 fps.

Whatever. More downtime for me to save money for when the game releases get insane.

LightDiego3578d ago

My dear blog.
Play some games that you missed, classics, it's only one month.

Soldierone3578d ago

July always sucks. Last game I bought was Wolfenstein. Next game I plan to buy is Destiny, so that's a pretty large gap. Normally I'm buying at least one game a month :/

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

Jayz2cents a supporter of there products also has issues

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
