9/10 top games are from Nintendo.

trunkswd3574d ago

Nintendo always has the bestselling games for its consoles. It is a different story for Sony and Microsoft.

98xpresent3574d ago

Meanwhile their both outselling the wii u weekly

Metallox3574d ago

But a bunch of them are tanking, especially Pikmin 3 D= Even worse, Pikmin 3 in VGChartz it's overtracked, it has sold way less in North America it seems. I'm feeling the worse for the franchise :'(

Fullmetalevolust3574d ago

I hope that more people buy the WiiU, so that Pikmin 3's sales increase. Perhaps some of the flagship titles need to be bundled together, like a WiiU must own collection.
It is a great game, after all.

MNGamer-N3574d ago

I highly recommend Pikmin 3. And after you get that game, get the previous two and play those on your WiiU as well. Such a wonderful game!

Reeze3574d ago

Pikmin 3 is one of my favorite games of all time- yes, it's that amazing!

mcstorm3574d ago

For me the wiiu has the best line up of games out of all the next gen consoles. I have more wiiu games than Xbox one games and apart from Tekken tag 2 and COD BO2 they are all Nintendo games.

I really hope sales of the wiiu pickup but that said for me the best Nintendo consoles have always been the lesser selling ones in the N64 and gamecube. I am starting to get the feeling the wiiu is going to fall under the same tag.

Don't get me wrong I can't wait for games like Halo collection and Forza Horizon 2 on the Xbox one but Nintendo has really got me excited for games again which I felt towards the end of last gen lost this as it as all about COD, BF, FIFA, NFS, AC year on year.

I agree. Its not something news, it was always like this.

akaFullMetal3574d ago

Surprising that ubisoft only sold 4% total of sales on the wii u. I guess I see why 3rd party dropped off.

akaFullMetal3574d ago

Correction only 4% in the top 10.

"Broken down by publisher Nintendo has sold the most games for the Wii U with 5.45 million games sold. Ubisoft has sold 2.41 million games, Warner Bros. 1.27 million games, and Activision 1.19 million games."

Geekman3574d ago

Lol, people said 3D World was a flop? How is 2.12 million units a flop? I guess people decided it was a fail after that one week Knack outsold it.

snookiegamer3574d ago (Edited 3574d ago )

It was Mario Kart 8 and Nintendo's E3 that gave me the impulse to purchase a Wii U. Honestly, I was totally surprised with it! This thing is current gen along with PS4 and Xbox One.

No doubt ;)

InTheLab3574d ago

That last statement doesn't hold up when you look at the games that won't be coming to the WiiU based on what devs can and cannot do with the console.

marloc_x3574d ago (Edited 3574d ago )

Mmm...now, THAT statement doesn't hold up.

Vegamyster3574d ago

3rd party games aren't coming to the Wii-U due to sales, not because of hardware limitations. If one modder can get Skryim to run on integrated laptop graphics I'm sure a team of Devs can port a game to the Wii-U.

InTheLab3574d ago

Ok so if sales are the issue, why is the Xbox. One still being supported? The WiiU has 2m more users than the X1. Explain that away.

Surely you disagrees at least understand basic math and and possess some common sense. The WiiU is closer to previous gen specs than current gen. This is why some of the same people in the thread like to tell us how the WiiU is next gen for Nintendo and not simply gen 8.

And thrown in Rocksteady who already explained why the next Arkham title won't be on the WiiU.

Vegamyster3574d ago (Edited 3574d ago )

Yes it's "basic math", i specifically said "3rd party games" not hardware sales.

Yes i heard their reason for not putting it on the Wii-U, apparently adding the Batmobile requires too much lol.

Looking Ahead: The Lingering Questions About the Next Mario Kart

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "10 years. It’s been almost 10 years since the last mainline release in the Mario Kart series. Mario Kart 8 came out for the Wii U in 2014 and became the best-selling game for the system by a sizeable margin, and later pulled the same magic trick on the Nintendo Switch under the stage name Deluxe. All in all, it's sold nearly 70 million copies over the last decade and is still selling like hot cakes to this day, so it’s no wonder Nintendo has been in no rush to replace it. However, with rumors of a new system being just around the corner, and reports a few years back that a new Mario Kart is indeed under way, it seems the era of 8 might very well be drawing to a close. It’s an exciting prospect to be sure, but after two Nintendo systems with Mario Kart 8 at their heart, a lot of questions remain about how Nintendo will choose to follow it up."

I hope they just keep building on Mario Kart 8; Add a track-creation tool, and probably open it up to more Nintendo IPs with new tracks and characters, so Metroid, Punch Out, Starfox, Animal Crossing, etc etc.

gold_drake7d ago

there wont be a new one until the switch 2 comes out.

nintendo needs their bangers early on

The Next Mario Kart Desperately Needs A Good Gimmick

Mario Kart 8 has been out for nine years now if you include the Wii U version. Despite the Switch port continuing to sell insane numbers since it came out in 2017, many people believed that a new installment was way past due. When the Booster Course Pass was announced instead, it was a bit controversial, with one side of people stating that it was time for a new game, and the other side believing that this was the best course of action and that there's nothing else Nintendo can do to innovate the franchise.

There's nothing wrong with the games, but after most of them being very samey, I got a bit bored. I liked MKDS because it added a mission mode, yeah it didn't have maybe as many as I'd like but it was decent for variety.

I really prefer the new Mario Party for the different types of games in it.

Mario Kart doesn't really feel fresh because you know what to expect for every new game pretty much. The single player mode of DKR was far more in depth a game vs Mario Kart IMO, MK is probably better for multiplayer though.

-Foxtrot305d ago

It needs a campaign mode like Crash Team Racing with open hubs, driving around the Mushroom Kingdom, selecting your races and the like. Have a system like the CTR tokens within the races that then unlock secret racing cups later on or the time relics to unlock other things.

There's nothing wrong with the games but when you've had the same set up for so many games it just gets a bit samey after a while.

They could even have something like a track creator like Modnation Racers or something.

Neonridr305d ago

I always enjoyed the single player aspect of Diddy Kong Racing myself.

Knushwood Butt305d ago

After starting with the first game on SNES, I think the last one I bought was on the DS.

Phlacky304d ago (Edited 304d ago )

I think the next gimmick should be interactive tracks with obstacles and traps such as maybe throwing a shell ahead to make something fall on another player Also have water and mud parts that effect handling more also fire parts that can cause you to over heat if you stay in it to long etc...

Yi-Long304d ago (Edited 304d ago )

I don’t think it needs ‘a gimmick’ so much, because gameplay is pretty much perfect right now, but I would like the next Mario Kart to do either a ‘track-builder’ thing, so you just get access to the tools and make your own tracks (think Modnation Racers or LBP Karting), and/or expand upon ‘Mario’ Kart and open it up to the rest of Nintendo IPs, and just do a ‘Nintendo Kart’, so we’d see more of Zelda, but also Starfox, Kirby, Metroid, Valkyria Chronicles*, etc.

* I know, technically not ‘Nintendo’.
