Looks great, but Keiji Inafune said so much about how the japanese games were not so good nowadays, even said that "japanese game is dead", let's see how great is Mighty No. 9.
I don't think a market that stil delivers games like Metal Gear Solid 4, Suoer Mario Galaxy series, Skyward Sword, Ni No Kuni, Xenoblade, The Last Story, Bayonetta, Enslaved, Puppeteer, A Link Between Worlds, Catherine, can be considered "dead". We can say that had better times, specially with companies like Capcom and Square-Enix, but saying that is dead is too harsh.
Phil Fish said the same thing, well, that's irrelevant, he is not important.

Heisenburger3580d ago (Edited 3580d ago )

I wouldn't know but perhaps he just feels ashamed of some of the way the companies and people are behaving and creating. The way I think it is, as a former Catholic, when I would hear about some piece of crap molesting a kid or some talk of bigotry in the church(main reason I personally left) I would feel as if I were being betrayed by my people(sic).

Now obviously the reasons I gave are a tad dramatized compared to simple video games. But considering Japanese *are infamously known for having high honor, and shame along with it, I am not sure his quotes are entirely ridiculous. In context of course. We're all a bit jaded. I used to believe and I felt as if I was pushed out of it. That can totally apply to Mr. Megaman himself.

Sevir3580d ago

He said it in context to what was being delivered at the time during 2008/2009 shortly after DMC4 was released and it was in comparison to what the West was doing, The western game development scene was fully embracing HD and trying new things while the Japanese game development was still struggling to leave behind some of the last generation tropes and pillars of development that was no longer proving to be popular or viable. It didn't help at all either that Capcom's offerings weren't really performing as best as they thought.

AngelicIceDiamond3580d ago

@Light i don't know why Japanese devs are cannibalizing themselves like that.

That region use ti reign supreme in the market. Hell till this day my favorite games are from Jap devs.

U.S and European devs aren't risky like Japanese devs are.

With that said I hope they come together and make magic like they use to intead pushing others away. Mighty No.9 very fun.

MrSwankSinatra3580d ago (Edited 3580d ago )

Japanese Gaming is not what it used to be for the simple fact that Japanese Developers chose to westernize their franchises.

BTW Enslaved is not a Japanese game. That game was made by a European developer.

PrimeGrime3579d ago (Edited 3579d ago )

When did Inafune say that? Can you give me a direct link of that actual quote because if I recollect he didn't say that exactly. I could be wrong but I just don't remember him saying it like that.

If I remember correctly, he said the Japanese gaming industry is dying.

Can anyone disagree with how poorly every console is selling there? I can't, he was completely right in predicting that with such a statement and I would think he knows considering he lives in Japan, is Japanese and more importantly is a Japanese developer. It is also hard to deny that when the numbers don't lie.

Good thing 2d platformers are still popular.

feraldrgn3580d ago

Looks like it's improved a lot.

MEsoJD3580d ago

The only thing I don't like is the character model. Doesn't have that much style and looks weird when running. Wish it could be 2D sprites, but whatever... I didn't support the kickstarter.

Lol, I literally said that out loud when clicking on this article.

Only tried the demos for both and mighty 9 looked atrocious. Megaman 11 was fun and polished. Never played both full versions but will see it they are on PS Extra when i get home.

Mostly get my megaman fix playing the azure gunvolt games and spin offs. And Maverick Hunter X on my Vita.

VersusDMC622d ago

Just tried Mighty No 9 again on PSExtra...graphics are atrocious and taking down enemies by dashing into them feels so hollow.

Kickstarter's Gaming Successes Prove Big Gaming Doesn't Know What Fans Want

Kickstarter has allowed game developers all over the world to bring their respective visions to life, while AAA Studios remains out of touch.

TheEnigma3131504d ago

This is very true. Companies like EA, UBI, MS seem to be disconnected from what fans want.

Um I’m not too sure about that check how well those games sold besides the money they got from Kickstarter they didn’t sell nearly as much as most games from publishers (AAA or not).

The unfortunate reality is these days games like Shenmue 3 and Bloodstained are incredibly niche and the only way it could survive is by use of a fan funded website like Kickstarter.

No Man's Sky had the most disappointing launch after the massive hype.

It also had the best turn around of any game.

Today it is basically a mammoth sandbox/city builder/space sim/casual podcast in the background meditative play. Love it right now.

smolinsk1511d ago (Edited 1511d ago )

But you jumped on the hype train without seeing what the game really came with.

Sean Murry absolutely caught up in the hype and talk about future stuff that wasen't there from the start.

But what i was promised before the game came out was an unlimited univers and everybody else was looking forward to just that and nothing else. So he gave us just that..that people could not see the true picture about an Early access kind of game was delusional, it was so clear it was not ready...

akaFullMetal1511d ago

CD3, and ff15, maybe shemue 3, I feel are more recent disappoinments than Duke nukem and perfect dark.

Anthem was predicted to be a failure from its beginning especially since the last game Bioware put out was the abomination called Andromeda.
