The announcement that a sequel to Homefront, a game that lead to the demise of of its developer and help bankrupt its publisher, has stumped many in the gaming community. Yet gamers forget that not every title has been a hit the first time while a few went through a slump before being redeemed.
The PlayStation 3 may not have been the strongest generation for Sony, but there were still some diamonds in the rough that deserve a revisit as PS5 remasters.
Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!
The time is perfect for a resistance fall of man game campaign coop multiplayer
Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱
The first Killzone game never met lofty expectations of dethroning Xbox’s Halo, but if any game needs a PS5 remake, this is the one.
I like Halo, but I don't think there is any need for a 'Halo Killer' at this point. If anything, the franchise is slowly undermining itself by making some of the dumbest mistakes possible. Infinite has finally reached a good point in terms of multiplayer, but it took an extra 2 years to get there. Meanwhile, the single-player experience is fine but rather mediocre when compared to the franchise peak.
That said, I would like to see the Killzone franchise back, if anything, to offer more variety to the PS5 exclusive catalog.
I'd love a killzone trilogy, fully remastered on a single disc like they did with Uncharted. Maybe they could make it the full killzone saga including PSP and Vita games converted to console.
I've never liked the idea of a 'franchise killer', why can't both thrive, without one killing off the other? Its such a childish mentality.
That being said, if there ever was a true 'Halo killer', then it would have to be 343 Studios, and the Xbox division. They're doing a fine job killing off their own IP, apparently.
Halo doesn't need to be killed, they've done that themselves. It's a shell of its former self.
The Amsterdam-based studio reflects on its humble beginnings, beloved franchises, and growth through the years.
Up there with the top tier in the industry. Love Guerrilla Games - Horizon Burning Shores is simply STUNNING.
32.7M sales in the Horizon franchise! With 8.4M coming from Forbidden West alone! Truly a hugely successful game and franchise as a whole. Looking forward to Horizon III
Yooo, when I first saw that Killzone 1 footage at E3, my friends my brothers and I were like, Holy shit! When it came out, it didn't look exactly like it, but we sunk so many hours into 1 & 2.
I even liked Killzone: SF, it was a spectacle to look at, and even today it looks good. I hope they make a new one. Can you imagine how that will look, and they can get some modern FPS pointers from Bungie.
Such a wonderful studio. They deserve all their success.
The Decima Engine is absolute 🔥 I'm just mad they have abandoned Killzone.
A Homefront sequel may have stumped gamers but we forget some classics had a hard start before becoming hits.
I think that's not the case here, because the game is great but it had poor sale numbers, anyway, i really want a sequel for Vanquish.
A new Mercenaries would be cool too.
I don't understand all these things about being "stumped" or "surprised" that Crytek is making a homefront sequel. All of this was announced well over 2, possibly even 3 years ago. Are all these writers like 16 years old and didn't read video game news 3 years ago. It was all over the place, Crytek was making homefront, thq was gonna publish. (Rumored release was 2014 or 15) Thq goes under, Crytek buys the rights to homefront and continues on making it. This is all very old news, and yet, I keep reading these articles about "old of left field comes homefront 2" lol wtf? "Who knew a homefront was coming". Bunch of dummies I tell ya
Bayonetta was a massive retail flop, which is why Nintendo had to bail out the developer to get the sequel made. Loads of the best games perform really badly at retail - look at System Shock 2 and the original Deus Ex - because too many gamers refuse to put their money where their mouth is, bemoaning the lack of innovative new game ideas but all too happy to shell out a wad of cash for the latest installment in Generic Modern Combat FPS every single year.
"Driver" was a fail? I never realized... All I know is my cousin was in the top 5 on the leaderboards for the PS3 version for a long time... I guess that alone could tell me that the game failed.. He's nowhere near a "professional" gamer to be that high on the leaderboards...
