Final Fantasy 15 to Include In-Game Cellphone, Release Dependent on PS4/Xbox One Sales – Rumour

There is literally no indication whatsoever that any of it is true but it is interesting."

Ugh i hate the based on sales release. The consoles are doing their part already, everyone who wants this game will buy one when it has a release.

Weve waited long enough se. Based on sales, pffft should have released it last gen then if they are gonna keep pushing the date back.

Seriously, I mean I just don't see how anyone can defend them anymore. These consoles are selling better then expected and they really need to see how well they do. If they had the Wii U sales I'd understand but they don't

It will never ever happen as long as they are standing but I really wish they would just sell the rights to someone who will take care of the franchise, stick to it's roots and will get the games out within a 3-4 years of each other.

Even the decision behind doing FF11 and FF14 as online games was silly. Why didn't they just do a new series. Final Fantasy Online, Final Fantasy Online II, Final Fantasy Online III etc

Then you have all the spin offs and different platforms for Kingdom Hearts instead of cracking on with KH3. Confusing the story even more for people who can't afford all platforms.

It's not just them though Capcom are like Square Enix aswell. I feel like something is happening to Japanese gaming companies. Some are alright but the majority of them have made some poor decisions over the years, even Nintendo. Is the Western market affecting them too much? Are they too obsessed chasing after it? Or are they so proud that they refuse to admit they made bad calls and will not rest until people love the choices they've made. They fail to realise one bad decision leads to another, and another, you can't turn it around.

If Square Enix were a normal company, they would of seen the error of their ways with FF13, admitted they were wrong with the changes, distanced themselves from it, bring out the next game as soon as they could while also starting on a FF7 remake and getting Type 0 localised

If they did that then we would of had FF15 years ago and maybe a shit load of information of Kingdom Hearts 3 by now

The frustrating thing is that mess up, proceed to spend twice the effort to fix it, then get praised and defended for fixing it rather than admonished for not getting it right the first time.

The consoles are selling well. They shouldn't be twiddling their thumbs just to give us some info.
Having said that this might be a non-issue. The PS4 and XBO have what? 11-12 million sold already? By the end of 2014 or better yet the end of this fiscal year, the PS4 and XBO would've sold at least 15 or 20 million.

The reason for that is very often, MMOs either perform great or are left to rot. I was extremely excited for SWTOR and while it was fun, it was not the game I had hoped for. If they did that and fixed it, that would be awesome. (there are rumblings on reddit about Disney funding the fix of that game. I hope its true)

Right now since it's a "rumor" that's what I'm going to treat it as - a rumor. With that said, if SE does base FF15 on "current gen" they can keep the game and I'll support another company that is willing to risk putting out a game to support the fans over being greedy.

This is the real reason all games hav been delayed. Almost all games delayed are next gen only. The ones that havnt been are for both like Destiny, Dragon Age, CoD etc.

With the budgets the way they r, these companies need xmas and tax season to hit b4 they hav a large enough base to recoup their costs.

FF7 released 3 years after launch of PS1.
FF10 1 year after PS2.
FF10 4 years after PS3.

Square releases FF game on PS only once it has accumulated certain sales in Japan. They stated this themselves. Currently and unfortunately PS4 seems like worst selling PS in Japan. Hopefully things can change once Japanese developers start making games for it.

Probably a good idea to play them. I mean, for the story you could just read up on it or watch some videos if you want to get up to speed, but in my opinion you'd be missing out hugely by not playing them, it's such a great series. Unless of course you can't, and that's your point :)

Yah right, just more excuses to delay the title from releasing. By the end of this year, both consoles will have sold over 15-20 million combined, that's a good enough install base for any multiplatform game to massively succeed. Look at Watchdogs! Over 4 million copies sold and Ubi's fastest selling game!

If they think their new title, no matter how long awaited, is gonna do over 10 million copies just because it's FF, they really don't have a clue. Final Fantasy isn't the same giant franchise is used to be. They're gonna have to work their way back up. The longer they wait, the less relevant they become, which is already pretty pretty bad for them atm.

As far as I can tell, there's simply no way Square Enix will make a profit on FFXV, the game has been in development for too long, even if it was on and off at times.

And by releasing it on Xbox One and PS4, they most likely had to make major changes to the game's code, creating new higher resolution assets to make sure the game doesn't look like a last-gen game ported to the new gen. And with the Final Fantasy name not having the credibility and fan approval it once had, this game could very well hurt SE as much as The Spirits Within did to SquareSoft.

Of course, the way they are handling things at the moment is not helping at all.
