Destiny: Official Tweet Announcing Xbox One Beta Deleted by Bungie Without Explanation

Today Bungie tweeted to announce Destiny’s beta coming to Xbox One in July, but that wasn’t particularly new, as Activision had announced that testing would come by then during its latest financial conference call.

What's more insteresting is that the tweet was deleted without an apparent explanation.

???why would they delete it? Or why announce in the first place just to delete it? Was it a mistake?

Crazyglues3603d ago (Edited 3603d ago )

Probably was a mistake..., this happens all the time, I 'm sure it's not a sign that the demo is not coming to Xboxone and more of just a mistake on the timing..

Since this game is clearly coming to both systems I'm sure the demo will be on both systems as well, just a slight mix up on the exact date. / No big deal. (I don't think you should be worried if your on XboxOne, I'm sure the demo will be on your system as well.

(what's with all the disagrees)

Vegamyster3603d ago

Maybe it has to do with the big PS4 logo at the end of your comment when you're on a Xbox page lol.

2015 is going to be a great year for gaming! LOL, January 2015 delay announcement incoming.

I personally think Bungie "ruched" the announcement for the beta when MS was planning on making it an E3 surprise at least to confirm to the fans Bungie is still on a good place with them you know after announcing the exclusive content for the PlayStation platforms!

XiSasukeUchiha3603d ago

This is a scandal that Netural Gaming Force needs to find out:)

lets_go_gunners3603d ago

They are partnering with sony...They can't even mention the competitors. Microsoft has to announce it themselves. But that;s my guess.

Yo Mama3603d ago

This. I'm pretty sure the legal agreement between Sony and Bungie stipulates that all advertisement, printed and word of mouth, shall only include Sony consoles until a specific date. That tweet would be considered a breach of agreement.

Fixay3603d ago

Yeah this sounds about right

Pinkdolphinyfg3603d ago

I feel like it's Activision muzzleing Bungie due to their Marketing deal with Sony. I just can't see Bungie giving xbox gamers the cold shoulder after so many years of support ya know?

Geoff9003603d ago

At the end of the day, like any other business it's money that speaks.

Bungie and Activision must've had an agreement with Sony since Bungie is a independent developer. Bungie own the IP, Activision have publishing rights.

"Sorry yall we meant *PS4 in our last tweet" haha

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter325d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood325d ago (Edited 325d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro325d ago (Edited 325d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881325d ago (Edited 325d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell324d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig325d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast325d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername325d ago (Edited 325d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g325d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka325d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai476d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface475d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard473d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
