Developer Bethesda Game Studios was almost shut down in the late nineties, executive producer and game director Todd Howard revealed recently.
David Pierce, better known as Chesko in the Skyrim modding community, is now a Senior Designer at Bethesda Game Studios currently working on the upcoming TES 6.
Created by Bethesda Softworks, The Elder Scrolls is hailed as one of the most groundbreaking RPG franchises.
GF365: "If you’re a reader, this list of great games for avid readers is for you. Games are a form of art, and some have written literature in them."
"According to [Howard], "bits of code" that were used in Morrowind still appear in Bethesda games today."
This man thinks we never noticed that The Elder Scrolls and Fallout games mostly run on really old engines :o
In fact, animation being a huge factor for me in games, I almost avoided Skyrim altogether because of it's old ass IK style animation. I learned to look past that and enjoy their games for their strengths and not begrudge myself a good time for their weaknesses, but seriously Bethesda, Howard, we know.
"(giga)bits of code"
I still remembering buying TES:3 back in the late 90s and being blown away. There was just so much to do in that game. It was insane.
No wonder Morrowind saved them. Its without doubt the best game they ever made. I still play Morrowind way more than Skyrim. I would give anything to play Morrowind HD remaster but there again there is Skywind.
After Daggerfall, they released some very buggy games that weren't all that good. The Elder Scrolls Battlespire was really glitchy and the Elder Scrolls Redguard was a lot different than anything in the series, more linear, more action oriented.
Morrowind was what saved the company.
