Two different Russian journalists point out an ongoing rumor that The Last Guardian might have been cancelled for good.

Two russian ex-journalists ...yeah sure. But it makes sense in the overall picture, this statement came from Scott Rohde in March:

"When asked whether it was still a PlayStation 3 game or if it’s migrated to PlayStation 4, Rohde said that he’s “not going to announce what platform it’s coming on, who’s working on it, who’s involved. But that is still a title that’s absolutely in the mix at Worldwide Studios. That’s the most you’re gonna get.”

For me, it kinda makes sense... these guys saw the PS3 version being cancelled. Sony probably sent a mail to retailers that they should remove the PS3 version from their listings. Meanwhile it has been hinted more than once that TLG is being "re-engineered" for PS4 so I'd say that Sony is going to re-introduce the PS4 version when it's ready - hopefully at E3, maybe only at TGS. But all in all I believe that it's coming.

FF Versus and Agent I completely forgot about and I remember how hyped everyone was when they were announced at....damn how many E3's ago was that!?...seems like forever ago. I'm guessing, and hoping, all 3 are being moved to the next gen consoles. Although with Agent, I don't remember ever seeing gameplay.....

If I had to choose just one to release at some point, I hope it's the Last Guardian, based on how amazing Shadow of the Colossus and Ico were, it'd be a shame if this project was never completed.

I think that's the most likely outcome. Square did the same thing with Finaly Fantasy Versus XIII and turned it into Final Fantasy XV. It wouldn't surprise me to see Sony pull something similar with TLG's development.

Team Ico is a surprisingly small studio that works on their art more than operating as a business. Sony oversees the business, but Fumito is fully focused on the art and the final product as something of legacy.

It hasn't been 200 people working on The Last Guardian for 7 years straight.

I don't think Sony is ever going to cancel this iP. It will be released whether it's good or not. I'm suspecting they've poured at least a hundred million dollars in this IP. I heard years ago that the Last Guardian was played by 3 journalists behind the scenes at TGS and the gameplay and mechanics were so bad Sony told them to not write pieces on it and canned Ueda, halted production, and then rehired him and re-upped production. Who knows at this point. They're obviously working on it, because Team Ico has obviously been doing something for all of these years. Sony is not just pumping millions into this IP for nothing.

First, I don't know whether to believe it is cancelled or not. We are over five years after it was announced so it would not be surprising either way.

If it is not cancelled then obviously Sony sees value in it so it will probably great.

If it is cancelled it that is ok, as Sony obviously feel the game isnt good enough.

But, if it is cancelled gamers should learn a lesson. Games are vapourware until they have a ship date and previews of the game are in the media. Even then games like watch dogs and drive club are susceptible to delays.
