I just recently bought a PS3 to experience Uncharted and GOWIII (PSN Georgeenoob), and plan on doing the same with PS4 4-5 years down the road for Uncharted 4.

With X1 there're plenty of games straight out of launch along with a promising fall 2014 and 2015, so buying one now especially after the price cut is very justified.

Yeah, I'll be buying an XOne to experience all it has to offer, but I don't see enough compelling software besides Sunset Overdrive and a few other far off titles. I'll probably pick a One up in a couple years when the price hopefully is dropped again to match the lower powered hardware when compared to the PS4.

There hasn't been anything to come out since launch that I feel is a 'must buy'. I'm a fan of the Killzone series and the Infamous series, but I just couldn't get excited for either of those games. Personally, I haven't bought into the hype for The Order 1886. It looks ok so far, but I'm just not getting the same feeling of excitement as I did for the Uncharted games, GOW3 or The Last of Us.

When Uncharted comes out, that's when things will start to get good. If Sony makes Heavenly Sword 2 or a high quality Syphon Filter game, then thats when they will have some 'must have' games. I'd love to see Guerrilla Games take on the Resistance series, and a God of War game on the size and scale of GOW3 would be awesome.

Georgenoob keeps talking about exclusives as if any of the "so called" xbox one exclusives are actually worth mentioning. Most of the exclusives on the xbox one are average to mediocre. Some aren't even worth mentioning. Name one Xbox One exclusive THAT IS ON SALE RIGHT NOW that even comes close to competing with Infamous Second Son.

I have to ask - what could be so disappointing about it, if the PS3 (and most PlayStation/console launches) was just as tame? Virtually no one buys a launch machine expecting the best it will offer, rather, they pick it up to experience the latest technology and software to showcase said work.

In this regard, the PS4 is no different than most consoles are their births. It just so happens that, believe it or not, with all of the downloadable/Indie titles, in addition to retail copy, the PS4 had the biggest launch of this gen (and perhaps of any).

I'm not saying one CAN'T be disappointed with the current line-up, but given anyone who bought one at launch should have known what would be what 7 months after the thing released, there shouldn't be any extreme "letdowns". As mentioned, the software will be there, ESPECIALLY given the track record of the PlayStation brand.

I will wait this gen. No money and even less time to play. It's taken me months to put 80 hours into Dark Souls 1 on my PS3 (still a work in progress as I just started NG+) and my backlog is long as all hell. I was the first in line for PS3 and I have no hurry to change my main console atm. My PS3 is giving me my money's worth ten fold. My console of choise is and will always be Playstation (unless Sony screws up badly) so PS4 it is when the time comes.

As much as i love my ps4 i do have to agree with you incendy, disappointed isn't the word i would use, more on the lines of not very interesting yet. I knew going into buying a console day 1 that there would be a very limited selection of games but i bought one anyways soley off the hype of next gen. Had killzone and infamous and really did enjoy them but finished infamous in a week and killzone in 3 months.

But now is about the time that the AAA games start to come out with watchdogs, ufc, and evil within and last of us set in summer. So the drought has ended but not really interested in anything except batman, driveclub, destiny and evolve so i have a little longer to wait to play some games that i am interested in.

Glad i just bought a wii u with mario kart and some other games to hold me over until fall but once fall hits the ps4 is gonna be a monster of a console.

Things generally always start of slow with every console. As someone who owns a gaming PC and a PS4 I can't say that I have played a lot of games on my PS4 so far, but I bought it knowing that would be the case.

Still, I've enjoyed Infamous Second Son and Killzone Shadow Fall (the first more than the second) and a couple other smaller games and I think the future looks bright. I can't wait for The Last of Us remastered, The Order 1886 and Uncharted 4.

I've seen Xbox One advocates layer on these titles on lists like these all the time. Since half of them are 2015 and the other half are unannounced potential games for some point in the future, it only seems fair that they come off the lists as well if we're pruning.

Whereas the PS4 games that you removed are at least coming out this year, among others. Put the exclusives that are out this year with the multiplatform games that are already out (and perform better on the PS4), and Georgenoob's advice seems somewhat calculated.

I didn't buy it for a launch line-up, I bought it because I knew I'd still be using it years from now. I still own and enjoy a bunch of old consoles, it's not like the old games stop working just because a new one's out. lol

Either way though, I don't regret jumping in off the bat one bit, I've enjoyed and been impressed with what I've played already. Can't wait to see it keep progressing and what kind of games we'll be playing later on down the line.

I almost never keep my old console (at least not for long, I either sell it to put the money towards the new one when I'm stranded or enjoy it for more 6 months or so and give it away - the same way I got my first console, a NES), even so I don't think PS4 is behind anyone's expectations.

In 6 months we had Killzone, Infamous, BF4, COD, AC4 and Watch Dogs... 6 solid big budget games. Also plenty of good indie, smaller or rereleased games. As far as library goes, I'd say this gen had been much better early on than past ones.

Sure features and general performance wise I believe everyone wants something more, there's always that little detail that you would expect differently, but I believe the judging factor for an early buyer should be a healthy library growth (afterall we buy those things for games first and foremost). And with that considered, the only way someone could really be disappointed with PS4 is if the person already have completelly unrealistic expectations to begin with.

StarChild- PS3 released in North America along with 14 Launch Titles, adding 3 more by the end of 2006. In early 2007, another 4 big games were released. So in the first 6 months the PS3 had at least 21 popular games available. When PS3 was released in Europe, 24 games were available.

Look at how different the PS3 is now than it was when it launched, all the improvements that were made over its life cycle. Look at what the games looked like at the beginning of last gen and what they look like at now.

Can we please get over this already? It's not that it hasn't lived up to the hype. The hype has just cause people to either be complete console noobs at launch or to have unrealistic expectations. It's the go to argument to discredit a console that isn't of one's preference. People were saying this same thing 6 months after the Vita's launch, and while they were doing so I had over 10 retail games purchased for it.

People seem to assume that most people buy 4-5 games a month. If that were the case, then yeah, I can see how pickings would be slim. But I'd say that all but the most hardcore gamer doesn't buy more than 2 a month...at most. Even if they buy more, I'd be surprised if most people would even have time to play them all. I know I don't have time to play the 4-5 games I buy a month.

Just the fact that the PS4 launched with Playstation Plus already well-established made it a MUCH BETTER value than the PS3 at launch, and it not only has loads of exclusives and excellent multiplats on the way, many of those exclusives are new IPs by quality development teams. Plus, the much friendlier architecture of the PS4 (as opposed to the Cell Processor, which was notoriously hard to develop for) and excellent hardware means developers are much more excited to work on games for it than on the PS3. I for one love my PS4, and the only reason I'm not playing it that often is because there's been SO MANY great games and PS+ offerings on the PS3 lately. Oh, and Dark Souls 2.

I waited until Uncharted 2 to get a PS3. 2009 I think. By then, there were tons of content on the PS3 and the Slim was out. For me… Nope. I was led to believe this console would be revolutionary. But all people are talking about is graphics, hardware, apps. Nothing really industry-altering. It's just another console generation. Nothing more, nothing less.

I would say Morpheus and PSNow are both revolutionary for a console... Or at the very least innovative. None of the competition is as far ahead on this.

I would say that the PS4 is a refinement and distillation of all the Sony / Playstation knowledge and know-how.

I'm going to have to disagree. PSNow is paying for backwards capability. It's a farce. I don't even like paying to play online either. So, I have my PS4 with 2 year subscription. Is PSNow going to be a separate subscription I'd have to pay? SONY still hasn't given the specifics on the payment method (via their official blog post).

So the Video Game Headset. What will it let you do exactly, that other headset VR's don't do already? You do know that there are things out like that already. Arcades had similar VR headsets back since the mid 90's. Turning your head (in game), grabbing items, all that stuff. It's gimmicky.

And those things aren't on the PS4 yet either. So, so far the PS4 has not impressed me, aside from the amount of games.

PSNow is revolutionary because it means we could be seeing the end of the console arms race - where more power is required each gen. Eventually MS / Sony might start launching low spec consoles that are effectively streaming boxes. It won't be this gen, or next - but it's coming and PSNow is the start of that.

As for what it offers and at what price... We wait and see. Just viewing it as a cynical attempt for Sony to make us pay for BC... Well, it is optional. To add that facility to the current hardware would have driven the price up significantly... Emulating the Cell and it's SPU's in software would have been horrendously hard, maybe even impossible with the current hardware.

VR... Yep, been around for many many years. How many times have you seen it in someone's home? How many times have you seen it attached to a console? VR may never become completely mainstream, but it's no gimmick. For those of us interested in racing games, it is worth the money for the added immersion. Then throw in how it could be used in first person survival horror games, or other open world titles and it's hard not to be excited. A fully immersive elder Scrolls game would be phenomenal.

I would expect this kind of questionable article to be written by an MS fanboy, but for some reason I don't think it was, so it's a complete surprise that someone with any commonsense would even ask this kind of question. An equivalent questions would be "is water wet?"

I assume you're alluding to the Xbox one. It is not the only other "competition" out there. You don't have a choice between 2. There are other devices and places where you can enjoy games.

Actually yes I am alluding to the xbone one. I'm not talking about all gaming in general. I'm talking about this generation of consoles, in which there are 2 (3 if you count the wii U, and you may as well). So as I said, all of these facts are true about the PS4, so asking if it's living up to expectations is just stupid. I can only imagine the writer is asking a question where he knows the answer to the question but he asks it anyway because he want to sound sophisticated and controversial. It's just people looking for details to pick at the credibility of Sony and their PS4, and this question is wayyyyyyyyyy off.

Neither the Playstation nor Xbox has truly lived up to the hype, but how could they?

I own a PS4 and the main menu and storefront is a serious step down from PS3. The lack of USB media playback and 3D bluray support is a shame, and for some reason the audio drops out if I turn it on before the TV (just need to reselect the input to fix that though). But these things can and probably will all be fixed in time. We're in it for the long run. Fingers crossed they can sort out Anisotropic Filtering too. Oh, and Sony better start selling the DS4 with a battery the size of the DS3s... Yes, the capacity has genuinely gone down to save a few buck.

The Xbone isn't out in my country yet, but I'll buy one this fall if the Halo Collection rumour comes true.

It's not even a complete six months into the release of the PS4 and some of the games were delayed because they still need work. I'm glad that Sony and their 1st party developers have enough sense to understand that gamers don't want to play broken games. We would rather have a "GREAT" game later that works like it's supposed to instead of a "GOOD" game that could have been great if it wasn't for bugs and glitches. There are still independent and multiplatform games that are providing PS4 gamers hours of entertainment, like Watch Dogs, Wolfenstein, Outlast, and Bound By Flame. There will be experiences that only PS4 owners will have this year with an epic system seller, The Last Of Us Remastered. When someone asks you if your purchase of a PS4 was worth it, ask them to compare the lists of games available and how many "chart topping titles" each console has and that should actually tell you which console is actually, "bringing the games."

I don't know if i need to bother to read the entire article. the PS4 has the "most launch games" than all the previous playstation consoles whether multiplat or exclusive. PSone doesn't have that many software in its launch most are not even AAA not until its 1-2yrs lifespan. and PS4 is just 6 months in, and yet many people are judging it. Why don't you judge the other colossal black console who never delivered its promises. why? because one by one they took 180 turns and backtracking on what made its console unique. and PS4's original vision never change, but you just need to wait a little. no console in history started out so great in its first 6 months. there is no need for this discussion. i feel the reason this is brought up because of "game delays". driveclub, the order etc. so what? BIg deal? i'd rather have a late but polished game than a rushed one. end of discussion

I still have an OPM published about 6 months before PS3 launch. It is shocking how many "features" and possibilities were discussed in the article which never ever made it to the PS3 itself. Ill have to dig it out some time.

I expected a lot more from it. It is underwhelming that a new system has less software features than its predecessor.

Ps3 is an excellent box of features and remains as my centre of entertainment but it too was almost a barren wasteland with features when it launched.

As far as games go the ps4 is great, a couple games got delayed but that always happens. I have only bought KZ:SF and Outlast: whistleblower, but PS+ have given me Outlast and a few other indies so I can have a chance to save up for the shower of games that is coming and get infamous for a nice price. (October is where it is at appearantly)

Ps4 is still young and it can improve a whole lot.
Shu have said that Sony is working on it and the Os have reserved 3GB(?) for future software features and revisions.
I believe we will hear some about this soon.

The PS4 is almost 8 millions consoles sold disappointing. It is the leading console of this generation, very disappointing.

It become the biggest console launch in history after the PS2 and the best selling console in history. it surpassed sales of the wii u in less than months and is currently outselling the x1 in every territoty.

Well yeah. It has a much bigger lineup, more powerful hardware, and most sales.

I'm definitely enjoying mine. The only people that think it's not meeting expectations are the people that won't buy one.

It beat my expectations. I expected to have not much to play for awhile, but I've had no shortage of things to play so far!
