In all forms, whether they be in game characters, players or industry professionals the women of gaming culture have to swim through shark infested waters in a male dominated industry that can be less than kind.
Earlier this year, BioWare was hit with layoffs as part of a downsizing of parent company Electronic Arts, but fans have been reassured that the next Mass Effect game hasn’t been impacted. Likewise, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf’s development is still churning along, with BioWare putting it at the forefront of its focus and rumors suggesting that it could launch sometime later this year. Fans might be getting another look at the long-in-development Dragon Age: Dreadwolf at the Summer Game Fest in June.
If the recently posted job offering for a temporary development manager is any indication, BioWare could have yet another surprise up its sleeve for when Mass Effect 4 and Dragon Age: Dreadwolf are nearing completion. This mystery BioWare video game could truly be anything, from another spin-off of its two major properties to something entirely new. All there is to go on at the moment is a vague mention in the job posting, and it might still be some time before BioWare is ready to confirm any new games in its pipeline.
So a studio that spent years on anthem then this dragon age thing is now also working on another ip along with mass effect,
You think they would be worried that there brand has been on 3 major screw ups
Dragon age 3 launched broken with the frostbite engine yes its a good game but you can see in the late game how rough it was
anthem......
Mass effect 4 well that dev team was fired so yeah.....
They should make sure this new dragon age is a goat instead of putting more work on the table
How about they focus on those games and not over extend themselves? We don't need another Anthem.
Bioware died after Inquisition (some would even argue after ME3). They are no longer the same company.
IGN: "We spent six hours playing a recent build of Judas, the next game from BioShock creator Ken Levine, followed by a lengthy conversation with the renowned game designer to discuss the long wait since BioShock Infinite, bringing the "narrative LEGOs" concept to life in Judas, what the game is all about, and much more."

I’m tentatively hopeful for this. Love Bioshock. As far as the narrative Legos we shall have to wait and see. The early trailer for Infinite showed off a lot of stuff that didn’t make it into the finished product, and Levine is notoriously difficult to work for, so if this narrative stuff makes it into the came will be curious to see how impactful it is. I’d be fine with something more in the vein of the first Bioshock. Not much like that now, especially since Arkane’s fall from grace.
I didn’t realize Levine’s new studio was under 2K Games just like Irrational was. What was the point quitting Irrational and then 2K dissolving the studio only for him to open up a smaller studio still under 2K? Why not just downsize Irrational, keep operations going and have the brand recognition. Cuz it’s not like Judas is a departure from his normal style. Must be a story there

First off I'm going to discuss the box art thing. This is a business decision, the sexism in question is not because the women end up on the back of the box it's why. It's sexist because young males are the target audience, if women were the target audience you can guarantee that the box art would reflect that. The women on the back is a product of market research based on what appeals to the target audience, it's business plain and simple that is NOT intently sexist. I also believe that if the developers of games believed they could gain mass appeal in the female demographic that they would, they are not focused on it because they don't believe they can on masse albeit they do on a small level, this also is not sexist as its a business decision.
The creed is greed NOT discrimination for discriminations sake.
As for the second part of your article, the sexism that exists in the gaming community as a whole. I cannot deny that sexism exists here, it does as it permeates parts of society everywhere. I am part of the gaming community and I am far from sexist and I resent the implication that I'm lumped in with the ass hats who are just because I am a gamer.
Some would argue that the putrid element of the internet is nasty to everyone not just women and so it's not sexist and on some level I can see why but as I said some perpetuate it because they are so it can't wholly be said one way or the other for all of that element.
Click Baiting, Don't click it.
"I know I’ve been in discussions where we’ve been asked to push Ellie to the back and everyone at Naughty Dog just flat-out refused.”
Yike. I think people put to much thought into feeding into people perceptions of societal archetypes. Good on ND for standing by their principles.
I imagine all this articles are wrote by a guy that works with women and he thinks by writing this he'll get laid.
Tired of these feminazis who are no more than manhaters antagonising men to get attention. Humanism ftw
