I have to give credit to Microsoft here, I know its only a very very small thing they are doing but in the end at least its something. XoXoXo

JasonKCK3622d ago

How is pretty much unlimited storage a small thing?

Oh wait! clicked on your name, that explains everything. This is your attempt at downplay and damage control. I get it.

LexHazard793622d ago

Whats up with the hugs and kisses? Thats some girly shit right there.

If your a female disregard and apologies.

FanboyKilla3621d ago

A small thing? I have both systems, and in terms of software, online, and amongst other things, xone is years ahead of ps4. I mean with every update xone is seperating itself further and further away from ps4. While ps4 waits to see what xone does so they can tack it on. Lol meanwhile sony (firmware 2.08976543214.4579 is coming) still waiting. Oh thanks for giving me a video edit like xone had since launch. Even though i see no where to watch them, i mean other players vids. Why would i go to facebook to watch game videos? Years behind my friend.

Someone is playing nice now to build them bubbles up.

BX813621d ago

@ psyxon
It was a jk directed toward xisasuke, because he has one bubble.

No_Limit3622d ago

@XiSasukeUchiha,

Agreed, glad you have finally jump in!

colonel1793621d ago (Edited 3621d ago )

Now I completely agree with you Sasuke! (See, you do write good comments!)

I have been a PlayStation supporter for a long time, but I am loving how Xbox One is getting constant updates to make it better every time. For I can see, is that the updates are monthly and full of features.

Sony needs to improve the PS4 ASAP. They take their time, and I said it time and time again, that they like to be secretive and don't listen to fans when it comes to features. That was the only thing I hated about the PS3, and I suppose it's going to be one thing to hate about the PS4.

I really wish Sony was doing the same as Microsoft. They have done like 5 updates since release, while PS fans keep waiting for requested and MISSING features.

I love my X1!!! Idgf what a hater got to say! Going all digital from this point on!

zeuanimals3622d ago

Lucky. Data caps for me so I can only download so much before I get charged.

V0LT3622d ago

This is exactly why caps is a negative thing. In the end it is going to hurt companies selling products.

DJustinUNCHAIND3622d ago

Way to do your part in helping the developers and the environment!

Volkama3621d ago (Edited 3621d ago )

I'm all digital myself, but at the same time I can't stomach the digital prices so I end up just not buying anything :(

I'll probably pick up both freebies next month though, and I'll pay up the stupid prices when some good games come out (that I can't get cheaper on PC).

shinrock3621d ago

This what i've been waiting for. I haven't brought a disk sence i got myX1.

Infamazdre3621d ago

I'm half and half I still like the physical media but at the same time it's so nice not having to put a disc in and just switch between games..I thinking about going all digital but idk man

Harmy6663621d ago

I bought all he launch games on disc, but after that, I'm digital all the way! Even though I do love my physical copies!

BallsEye3621d ago

Another update?? Damn!!! I just can't keep up with the updates! Awesome! What's best is that it's not just bug fixes but new features all the time :)

Just got my XB1 y'all ! I'm glad I'm a multi plat gamer. PS4 and XB1 FTW. The only negatives I have about the XB1 so far is the controller isn't as comfty as the Dualshock 4 and the install times for games. Other than that its a really cool console. Kinect is really really impressive so far. Can't wait for E3 !

tuglu_pati3622d ago

I prefer the Xbox One controller better than the PS4. Although i like the PS4 controller very much, I just think the XBO controller feels better in my hands.

BX813622d ago

Yeah I like the xb1 controller better but the dualshock 4 is way better than the ps3 controller imo.

towelie12883622d ago

I agree I prefer the X1 controller aswell
But the DS4 is way letter than the DS3

Tempest3173621d ago

I really dont like the x1 controller tbh...the triggers and thumbsticks dont have enough resistance, too easy to push/pull too far. The haptic feedback is nice for some peoplim sure, but the triggers almost never vibrate by themselves, theyre vibrating when the entire controller is vibrating, which means the triggers tiny little motors are totally overshadowed by the primary motors. The DS4 honestly is the best controller design ever. The triggers are perfect, thumbsticks are nice and tight. Feels amazing imo. X1 is a good controller, ds4 is great.

IVanSpinal3622d ago

You need to play like 20 hours,
best controller

Volkama3621d ago

But the best controllers feel good immediately...

I'd say both next-gen consoles have great controllers. The 360 controller is still very good as well, I have no issues at all going back to it (for PC games).

LexHazard793622d ago

Congrats Sayain, XB1 is my next purchase to put next to PS4 aswell. Glad your your enjoying it.

ITPython3621d ago

Why would you buy an XB1 now? You could have waited a few weeks and gotten it $100 cheaper.

marlinfan103621d ago

the xbox with kienct is a better choice

ITPython3621d ago

Why? Are voice commands really worth $100? And can't the XB1 use a headset for voice commands like the PS4 can?

ThatOneGuyThere3622d ago

wait, is the xbox still limited to only external drives? or is the internal drive finally upgrade-able?

marlinfan103622d ago

Xbox one has external, ps4s internal

HugoDrax3622d ago (Edited 3622d ago )

XB1:
Internal: 500 GB
External: 16TB Max

PS4:
Internal: 2 TB Max, until 2.5" HDD larger than 2TB become available.
External: Currently not an option

I only have the stock 500GB HDD in my XB1 and PS4. I've purchased majority of my XB1 games digitally, and currently have only 68.8GB available for my XB1.

I still have approximately 350GB available for my PS4. Stick it to the man, RESOGUN, second son, and mercenary kings are the only games installed.

Mustang300C20123621d ago

Actually the size limit if you even want to call it that is 32.5TB

SwiftArsonist3622d ago

u can actually upgrade the internal but it voids your warranty

JasonKCK3622d ago

Why would anyone care about the internal drive when the external option is easier?

ThatOneGuyThere3619d ago

are....are you serious right now?

JasonKCK3619d ago

So you're saying that an internal drive is easier than a USB plug in play external?

Just stop before you embarrass yourself.

Volkama3621d ago

Storage limits are one thing, but what I'm more interested in is drive speed. The consoles both come with woefully inadequate 5400rpm SATA2 drives, and games simply take too long to load for my tastes.

The PS4 APU supports SATA3, but general consesus seems to be that the PS4 chipset is SATA2 only so peaks at 3gb/s transfer. There does not seem to be any official word from Sony on the spec (which usually indicates it the lesser option). There is still room for significant improvement by whacking a faster drive in there, with SSD (and hybrid) drives a good option.

USB3 peaks at 5gb/s, but I do not know if there are any other access time drawbacks that would make it inferior to even Sata2. Hopefully there will be some big gains available with a fast external drive.

It'll be interesting to see if a good external drive can significantly cut down load times on a game like Forza 5.

ThatOneGuyThere3619d ago

I threw a 500gb 7200rpm drive in my 60gig ps3 and it ran great. still does. so, what ive gathered, is that:

xb1: upgrading the internal HDD voids the warranty, and its kind of hard to do. This FORCES customers to buy an external HDD (which i gather isnt going to make anything load faster, just add more space)

PS4: lets you do whatever you want while not voiding the warranty.

So stupid, MS. I thought for sure they had improved this gen. Thats a pretty important feature.

Bethesda Needs to Reduce the Gaps Between New Fallout and Elder Scrolls Releases

Waiting a decade for new instalments in franchises as massive as Fallout and Elder Scrolls feels like a waste.

Microsoft have Obsidian but I feel it's Bethesda who just don't want to play ball as they've always said they want to do it themselves.

Once MS bought Zenimax in 2020 they should have put the Outer Worlds 2 on the back burner, allow Bethesda to finish off its own Space RPG with Starfield (despite totally different tone why have two in your first party portfolio with two developers who's gameplay is a tad similar) and got Obsidian for one of their projects to make a spiritual successor to New Vegas.

When the Elder Scrolls VI is finished Bethesda can then onto the main numbered Fallout 5 themselves.

The Outer Worlds 2 started development in 2019 so putting it on the back burner wouldn't have been the end of the world, they'd have always come back to it once Fallout was done and it would have been nicely spaced out from Starfields release once they had most likely stopped supporting it and all the expansions were released.

If they did this back in 2020 when they bought Zenimax and the game had a good, steady 4 - 5 years development, you might have seen it release in 2025.

We are literally going to be waiting until 2030 at the very earliest for Fallout 5 and all they seem bothered about is pushing Fallout 76.

RaidenBlack10h ago(Edited 10h ago)

Its not just only Todd not playing ball.
Obsidian have made a name for themselves in delivering stellar RPGs, but most famous once have always been sequels/spin-offs to borrowed IPs like KOTOR 2, Neverwinter Nights 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Stick of Truth etc.
Obsidian wants to invest more in their own original IPs like Outer Worlds or Pillars of Eternity with Avowed.
Similar to what Bluepoint & inXile wants to do or Kojima is doing (i.e not involving anymore in Konami's IPs).
So yea, even if New Vegas has the most votes from 3D Fallout fans, Obsidian just wants to do their own thing, like any aspiring dev studio and MS is likely currently respecting that.
But a future Fallout game from Obsidian will surely happen. Founder Feargus Urquhart has already stated an year ago that they're eager to make a new Fallout game with Bethesda, New Vegas 2 or otherwise. Urquhart was the director of the very first 1995's Fallout game after all.
And don't forget Brian Fargo and his studio inXile, as Brian Fargo was the director of Fallout's 1988 predecessor: Wasteland

KyRo6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

Obsidian should take over the FO IP. They're do far better with it than Bethesda who hasn't made a great game for almost 15 years

RaidenBlack48m ago(Edited 47m ago)

@KyRo
So, by 15 years, you mean Fallout 3 was the last great game Bethesda made?
You don't consider Skyrim a good game, which came out 13 years ago?
I'd consider Fallout 4 a pretty decent game as well. It's Story & RPG elements were a bit downgrade from New Vegas but the exploration and shooting on the other hand, were upgrades.
FO76 was disappointing and Starfield could've been better at launch I'll agree.

Duke196h ago(Edited 6h ago)

I disagree. Part of these games is the support for the mod community. If they move to releasing a "next game" every 2 or 3 years, the modding support plummets and the franchises turn into just another run of the mill RPG.

Make the games good enough to withstand the test of time, to keep people coming back to them and expanding on them with mod support.

--Onilink--3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

I dont think anyone is saying they need to come out every 2 years (not to mention almost no game is released that quickly anymore)

By the time Fallout 5 comes out, it will be more than 15 years since Fallout 4 came out (same with ES6 coming out 15 years after Skyrim). Even if you want to use F76 as the metric for the most recent release, that one came out in 2018. It will be a miracle if F5 comes out before 2030

The point is that for a studio that doesnt seem to operate with multiple teams doing several projects at once, that their projects normally take 4-5 years as a minimum, and that now they even added Starfield to the rotation, it becomes a 15+ years waiting period between releases for each series, which doesnt make sense. Imagine that Nintendo only released a mainline Mario or Zelda game every 15 years…

They either need to start developing more than 1 project at a time, let someone else take a crack at one of the IPs or significantly reduce their development times

Duke192h ago(Edited 2h ago)

Why should someone else take a crack at one of the IPs? Look at what happened to Final Fantasy as a recent example - there is pretty clear FF fatigue setting in because they are now pumping out titles in the franchise every few years. Pumping out more games faster doesn't always make a series better.

There are plenty of options to make new games, not just create more titles in the same universe at a faster pace.

mandf3h ago

Yeah I’m going to say it, who cares about the modding community when making a game? Half the time developers only tolerate modders because they fix there game for them.

Skuletor5h ago

Yeah, let's all advocate for smaller gaps between series' releases, then we'll probably get headlines about how the series have dropped in quality and they could have benefited from more time in the oven. Let them cook.

SimpleSlave4h ago

"how the series have dropped in quality and they could have benefited from more time in the oven" So every Bethesda game then? Got it.

Listen, I would agree if this was about From Software or something, but Bethesda?

🤣

C'mon now. What timeline are you from?

Skuletor2h ago

Think about it, they're already bug filled messes on their current schedule, can you imagine how much worse it would be if they rushed things?

Duke192h ago

I mean you aren't wrong. People are going to complain about anything

isarai4h ago

Hows about you focus on quality, just a thought 🤷‍♂️

Sciurus_vulgaris3h ago

Bethesda [or Microsoft] would have to reallocate internal and external studios towards fallout and elder scrolls titles. Bethesda has the issue of developing 2 big IPs that are large RPGs on rotation. If you want more Fallout and Elder Scrolls, development will have to be outsourced.
