Will Saints Row The Third Keep You Happy

Games with Gold is getting closer to being decent. But i’m sure no one needs to remind Phil Spencer that this needs a MASSIVE improvement.

Saints Row The Third was released on November 15th, 2011, a full Two and a Half Years ago.

Games With Gold has now released 23 Titles but the Xbox Live community have not been entirely happy with the quality of these titles

I was so worried they'd change the GwG format 360 to mimic ps plus. I like that I get to keep the games forever, especially since I didn't buy xbox gold for the games so it really feels like an awesome bonus.

An old(er) game is a new game to me *if I have not played it yet. So far Halo 3, Assasin's Creed 2 and Banjo Nuts and Bolts(RSA substitute for some other game I have forgotten) are the games I had already owned prior to them being available on gwg.

Dust blew my socks off, looking forward to playing Saints Row The Third for the 1st time.

You say you get to keep your games forever but what if Microsoft close down their Xbox 360 servers and your HDD goes bust ?

It would be gone forever.

Obviously you could back the game up on another HDD but it's still risky. There is a chance you would never be able to get that game again unless you bought the physical copy.

PS+ and GwG are good but they are both flawed in the long run.

It's the same with going all digital, i really don't understand why anybody would want to go all digital.

xboxpete3623d ago

Yes there is a flaw in that if the 360 servers go down and yes you need to stay as a paid member of psn to play most of their downloads.

But if that happens these titles will have been deleted in place of newer ones or even further generations of consoles so it won't matter.

As for digital content ..... that is another subject altogether

Bundi3623d ago

That's a pretty big if, MS would have to pull the plug, I would have to have a broken console/hdd AND have no backups.
I could lose my physical copy if somebody steals/scratches/breaks/mispla ces it too. There is no 100% forever ownership but like you say, I can back up my games on another drive.

On PS+ method, if sony were to pull the plug then that would be a guaranteed loss of access no doubt. So I'm glad 360 will remain as is. Sucks about Xbox One.

Both GwG & PS+ take a hard whopping when compared to "Steam" < FACT!

That being said,PS+ is still far better than GwG with it's old-a** game offerings,at least with PS+ you're getting discounts as well.

djplonker3623d ago (Edited 3623d ago )

Steam doesn't rely on keeping reatilers happy unlike the consoles as much as I love steam its nothing on ps plus sorry!

2 ps3 games

2 vita

1 ps4

When was bioshock infinite and 4 other games available on steam for£4?

Last steam sale bioshock was £9.99 on its own!

Bundi3623d ago

Xbox Live Gold has been offering exclusive discounts for years now.
Ps plus is like a rental service with newer games that you dont get to keep or decide on.

Vystrel3623d ago (Edited 3623d ago )

The Xbox One is actually getting Ryse and Forza 5 free. The PS4 still has resogun and that other indie game. So as of when those free games come out for Xbone GwG is better than PS Plus.

trywizardo3624d ago

its one of my fav open world games , it have the action , the comedy and the weapons , so yeah it will keep me happy ...

KonsoruMasuta3623d ago

No, I decided to download it an it has been as bad as I thought it would be. It's a pretty average game. The lowest point in the series.

I probably would have been a lot more satisfied if they gave us number 2, even though it's older.

SuperWeeb3623d ago (Edited 3623d ago )

I prefer a rental service with newer games than a permanent service with older ones.
I can buy saints row 3 with all the DLC for dirt cheap, and have little interest in playing it now that a fourth has been released.

Yes, there is an advantage with keeping the game. Though when the servers shut down you will no longer be able to download those games again anyway - So unless you are willing to store every single GWG game across multiple hard drives you will never keep it forever.
Furthermore, assuming you did do that, how many of you would honestly replay every one of those games several years down the line? Especially when you'll be able to buy the versions with the most content for dirt cheap physically at that time.

Give me newer games and actually give me value from my subscription. Why not give me Saints Row 4 without the DLC on a rental service? The publishers will still make money when I buy the additional content that I would have waited for during Steam sales and it's not something I could buy for a fiver or less preowned.

Xbox 360 Turns 18: Three Cheers to Live, Halo, and Red Rings

The Xbox 360 launched in North America 18 years ago, and is now officially old enough to buy you a drink in Europe.

Great platform, and many of its games (not bc) still hold up well to this day. Like the PS3, I keep a 360 hooked up for those games you can't play any other way.

The last gasp of greatness from XBox, you are missed, except the RROD that was lame, but amazing exclusives until the Kinect dropped.

TheBrainZ149d ago

So many brilliant games. I still have one stored somewhere.

LG_Fox_Brazil149d ago

I really enjoyed my X360, some great exclusives on it. Used to play the shit out ot Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, two masterpieces

I remember when Live turned five and they had special edition controllers made and everything. Kind of wished they would do that again for the 20th.

Happy Birthday. OG XBL (and later 360 XBL) really revolutionized online gaming on console.

Crows90519d ago

Never understood the obsession with live...but I was gaming online on PC so not sure too much of what live did that the PlayStation didn't.

Profchaos519d ago

I had a PS2 and it's online experience was fine but it didn't have the same level of polish voice chat never worked for me but I was trying to play from Australia where not many people played PS2 online to the point where many devs simply dropped the online mode from the pal version.
That's not all PS2 games mind you there were plenty that worked perfectly but it was more on the dev and not the platform

During that era I also played a fairly large amount on online PC games and they were undoubtedly better than both systems. PS2 from functionality and Xbox because it was free

Playing my friends original Xbox it was a really polished experience it felt robust yet simple things just worked there was zero config.

Crows90519d ago (Edited 519d ago )

Yeah but the time ps3 came the experience was the same on both based on what I played...not too much online though to be honest. But I do think that the xbox did help bring online into the console space a lot. As well as PC games to consoles.

Profchaos519d ago (Edited 519d ago )

Today would of been the perfect day to drop halo 2 the original bc version free on gwg.... If only
