Might be their game for FY2014. I just hope it's next gen only ...

Mankey3621d ago

Very unlikely that it will be another Red Dead yet.
Rockstar has said they would revisit Red Dead but not before going back revisiting others first.

If you notice, they take long periods of time inbetween games. GTA - 5 years, Red Dead - 6 years, and Max Payne - 9 years. (7 after they bought the IP)

I have no doubt they will return to the western genre but its more liekly to happen towards the middle of this console cycle.

A new IP, Bully or possibly Agent would be far more plausible at this point.

Oh and the long stretched of time between games? so that people never get tired of them and so they can come back each outing with new and better ideas.

Rockstar has no intention of turning them into call of assassins creed 2k15.

ZodTheRipper3621d ago

Don't worry I did my homework.

Red Dead Redemption released in summer 2010, developed by Rockstar San Diego.

Max Payne 3 released in summer 2012, developed by Rockstar Vancouver.

GTA 5 released in fall 2013, developed by Rockstar North.

Going by that cycle their next game should be coming from their San Diego branch while Toronto or one of the other branches is probably porting GTA5 to PC/Nextgen at the moment. And since Take Two's CEO said that there will be a nextgen game during FY2014 it is at least possible that it's RDR. I still think it'll be a GTA5 remaster... but RDR2 shouldn't be too far away now.

calis3621d ago

God I would love a Bully sequel.

LAWSON723621d ago (Edited 3621d ago )

IF RDR2 was announced as the new game it has been a while almost 5 years by time a next year release. Times flies it is hard to imagine that the game is 4 years old

Personally I will buy any next gen R* game day one so I dont care what it is

gaffyh3621d ago

No it won't be, they just released GTA V, and their development cycle is very long. If anything, it's going to be GTAV for next gen consoles.

kanyewesting3621d ago

They said it'd be a new game, so I think that rules Red Dead out no?

If so sadly that means it's Agent and PS only.

thorstein3621d ago

I don't see why they wouldn't, although I want to see another Bully or Manhunt first. Then there is the Agent we all want to here about.

As far as the headline goes though, even google translate used better English.

ikkokucrisis3620d ago

Rockstar, no auto-aim on any of your new games from now on.

k thx

Alexious3620d ago

Yes, but Bully doesn't have a fanbase as huge as that of Red Dead, and Agent or another new IP wouldn't be a safe bet.

Visiblemarc3620d ago

There are often long gaps..that said, it has been about 4 years since RDR and there have been other clues it might be in the works the past few years.

Personally RDR is one of my favourite games of all time, so this would be MAJOR for me.

They should just announce another GTA already because GTA 5 ARCADE is garbage.

showtimefolks3620d ago

i think it will be announced at sony's e3 conference, if the rumored leake few weeks back was correct and it was very well detailed, than it said that RS will announce a game at E3(sony's conference) but the source wasn't sure if RS will actually attend E3

ZodTheRipper

Red Dead Redemption released in summer 2010, developed by Rockstar San Diego.

Max Payne 3 released in summer 2012, developed by Rockstar Vancouver.

GTA 5 released in fall 2013, developed by Rockstar North.

there is RS Australia i think, so people see name RS and automatically assume its the GTA team, we should be expecting a new game from RS San Diego studio fairly soon

Golden_Mud3620d ago

it was hard figuring out wat u meant with RS , I would recommend u using R* instead :)

Rimgal3621d ago (Edited 3621d ago )

I have mixed feelings about this.

On the one hand RDR is one of my favorite games of all time, and I would love to play another game based on it. But in other hand I don't want to play a RDR game without John Marston being the protagonist, and I don't want to be a prequel either.

mafiahajeri3621d ago

If R* have proven something in the past its that they can always create compelling characters. Marston will be sorely missed but theres no way I wont play a RDR game because he isnt the protagonist

Rimgal3621d ago

And I'm not saying that R* won't make a great RDR without him. And if they make a RDR game of course I will buy it, like I said is one of my favorite games of all time. I'm just saying that for me RDR is a John Marston story, just like Uncharted is a Nathan Drake story and Gears of War is Marcus Phoenix. But that's just my opinion of course.

KnownAsEpic3621d ago

@Grumpy

The first red dead wasn't john marston

mafiahajeri3621d ago (Edited 3621d ago )

Well it didnt start with Marston (Read dead revolver) but I understand what you mean. I got attached to Marston as well, hell of a character, but the franchise must go on.

Thinking it will be the read dead rebellion game about the Mexican revolution and such, that was rumored a while back.

Rimgal3621d ago (Edited 3621d ago )

Whatever it is it will be hard to make a better game than RDR. But like you said, and I agree, R* have proven in the past that they can create compelling characters, so I will just wait and see.

DanielGearSolid3621d ago

I see what your saying

I think it'll work fine if its Red Dead [Insert different word starting with R]

If they go Redemption 2 I think ppl would expect it to still involve J Marsty (John Martson)

-Foxtrot3621d ago (Edited 3621d ago )

Yeah John Marston was fantastic

<SPOILERS>

In my opinion what he did at the end was stupid.

How did he know 100% that the Government would leave his family alone he was killed. These are the same people who kidnapped them

Not to mention they are corrupt and could of most likely killed them to keep everything hushed up. He took a huge risk and in my opinion it was stupid. I'd rather him go after the Government at the end and took down the corrupt agents one by one.

They should of done a DLC of an alternative timelime like Undead Night but in this one he survives.

Like Abbi and Jack are killed instead because the Government come early for John but he's at Bonnies ranch so they just decide to kill Abbi and Jack as they won't tell them where John is. This would make John a man with nothing to loose and goes after the government with the help of all the people he's met on his travels.

At the end he continues to be an outlaw which goes with the saying in the game

"Once an outlaw....always an outlaw"

The Outlaw Josey Wales DLC

calis3621d ago

Back in those days, the word of a man was good enough.

-Foxtrot3621d ago

Really....the West seemed like a bunch of lying, greedy, every man for himself arseholes.

Omnisonne3621d ago

I would buy that DLC :D

I think R* wanted to put the government in a dark light, it being currupt and all. Marston couldve focussed on getting his family and fleeing to nearby Mexico aswell, but that wouldnt make a very interesting story I suppose

KonsoruMasuta3621d ago (Edited 3621d ago )

John Marston was cool but I liked Red better ( The main character from Red Dead Revolver). Red was more spaghetti western.

I wonder if they will bring back the abnormal enemies for Revolver. Red Dead Redemption was grounded to reality. In Red Dead Revolver, enemies has supernatural abilities.

Jyndal3621d ago

I hated Red Dead Revolver. I much preferred Gun, but for some reason, Red Dead Revolver was more popular. Fast forward ahead, and Red Dead Redemption ends up having more in common with Gun than it did Red Dead Revolver. SMH.

Deceiver_Of_The_Gods3621d ago

They said in an interview that they take their time to make sequels , so for me it's not gonna be a new RDR or L.A. Noire , my money are on Bully 2 cause they had renewed and the trademarks for that game , or Agent , who knows. Munhunt , I dont think so cause they also said that it would be very dificult to make due to the increse of "psychos" in America...

ziggurcat3621d ago

god, i hope so. one of my favourite games from last generation.

hmm kinda out there i find red dead 2 a over hyped game i am sure there are other's out there worthy of this award.

Are we saying rdr 2 mp is better than the first one?

The cover shooting better on #2 than #1?

I mean they reused 80% of rdr 1 map on rdr 2

smolinsk16d ago

Red Dead Redemption 1 was better. A better story that's for sure but the world in red Dead Redemption 2 is fantastic. But overall yes Red Dead Redemption 2 is overhyped but with best living World ever made.

just_looken16d ago (Edited 16d ago )

Oh rdr 2 world how you leave tracks what you can do and the npc's are great no doubt

For me its the forced guns one way to play missions and the camp you can do nothing be a ass and there is no change sense none of the hunting/donating.bounty/karma etc even taking care of your horse matters. Then you got the horse inventory along with them bringing in realistic inventory but at the same time have that slomo crap pick a lane is it a wild west sim or a max payne rip off.

shinoff218315d ago (Edited 15d ago )

Plus who cares about the mp. Single player is where it's at.

I don't think it's the best sequel either. I liked it but I can see why some say it's overhyped. That's because it was. Great game still. I'd take xcom 2 as a better sequel. I'm sure there's plenty others.

just_looken15d ago

We care about mp because of gta v even if you been living under a rock you know what gtao did to gta v dlc.

Though rdr 2 mp failed it still put time/resources and budget away from the single player for a subpar experience compared to the first.

lucasnooker16d ago

Hmmm don’t know about that one myself. There’s some good sequels there….

No way last of us 2 was a better sequel than the original resident evil 2. The story of TLOU2 was a huge let down for me!

Assassins creed 2 was a vast improvement over the original and still the very best of the entire franchise imo.

Half-life 2 will always be legendary.

RDR2 is great but the best sequel ever? I don’t think so… just my opinion though I guess

shinoff218315d ago

Shoot down last of us 2 but bring up assassins creed 2. What in the world.

anast16d ago

Last of Us 2 would be mine and Dark Souls 3 has to be up there.

raWfodog16d ago

I also enjoyed TLOU2 but RDR2 edges it out for me. Both hit me in the feels but RDR2 just a little bit more lol.

anast16d ago

RDR2 is an excellent game. One of my top 10 of all time.

SimpleSlave16d ago

Sure, if you started playing game yesterday and just for this series. Otherwise? lol... No.
