An Entire Nintendo Console Generation In One Image

Redditor OhioStateBuck has collected every Nintendo 64 cartridge released in North America. Doesn't seem like much, does it? Blame it on those cartridges.

Nintendo's choice of game delivery device wasn't the only reason the Nintendo 64 wound up with such a comparatively small library, but those expensive cartridges sure didn't help. While competitor Sony's original PlayStation wound up with more than 1,000 games pressed onto relatively cheap CDs, the entire North American Nintendo 64 library consists of 296 games.

N64 = Quality over Quantity.

So many classic GREAT games that changed the history of video games forever, were made for the N64.

* So many Hidden gems that a lot of people don't know about either, because so many people had a PS1.

* I would LOVE a new Snowboard kids game, or a new Pilot Wings 64 or sequel to it. Maybe a new Wave Race 64.

There are some great gems on that system. Ever try out Mischief Makers or Jet Force Gemini? Fantastic games that people don't often talk about and they were both 64 exclusive as far as I know.

Nice. Wow, it didn't have that many games did it?

I wish the picture was higher rez, would be good to make out more detail.

So many amazing games in 1 picture. N64 had some of the best exclusives of all time.

randomass1713644d ago

Not to mention some of the most innovative and iconic Nintendo games of the time. Mario 64, Star Fox 64 and OoT? Masterpieces.

randomass1713644d ago

Dang, hefty price but it's hard to say the package isn't worth it.

SilentNegotiator3644d ago

I always forget how few games n64 had, considering how many great ones there were.

Having less shovelware seems to be one of the few upsides to not being the hottest seller.

barb_wire3644d ago

Really?

Huh guess Nintendo corrected itself then with the Wii then didn't it? Aside from a extremely *few* choice titles - that entire consoles lineup was nothing more than shovelware and the sad thing is, Nintendo were happy about it.

Shovelware is easy to ignore. Having less games in general is not an upside in any way shape or form.

I've actually beaten The New Adventures of Superman. And yes it truly is a heinous piece of crap. I'd give it a score of negative 10,000.

If only they gave you checkpoints for the indoor levels it could have been a negative 10 score. But that one missing feature completely ruined any chance of it being considered 'playable' and turned it into 'torture'.

Clay Fighter 63 1/3rd was legitimately a good game. Mortal Kombat Mythologies as well. Those two games don't belong on the list. Superman obviously gets top spot. WCW Nitro, Power rangers, and War gods were also pretty bad. Not familiar with the rest of the games on the list.
