During a livestream on Twitch TV Sony Online Entertainment Game Designer Jimmy Whisenhunt and Technical Director Tom Schenck gave more information about the upcoming zombie survival open world MMO H1Z1.

I watched the twitch recording, I'm glad they ran over some zombies. Night looked good with the moon and fog.
I hope they add some crazy guys that run around in the woods saying "because real" so we can kill and loot them.

It looks good but SO much like DayZ it is almost embarrassing. DayZ devs must be pretty pissed off right now.

I bet they are pissed off... a game that will do more, be more polished and look better is going to make dayz look like the cheap arma 2 mod it is. DayZ has the right idea, but their execution leaves a lot to be desired.

right, because they made Day Z from scratch. Wait... they built it on top of a game that other people spend thousands of hours making? But they were the first people to make an open world survival game. Wait... they were not? Ok, but they own the rights to anything involving zombies, freeroam, survival games, and anyone that make anything similar are therefor copying them. Wait... Oh that's right, you're completely wrong.

All of those things you listed existed way before DayZ. However, they existed on separate games. Name me a zombie survival/open world roaming/scavenging/building/re al time ever changing world/mmo style game that existed before DayZ. Go ahead and use google. I'll be waiting.

Minecraft? Anyways who cares if it is a Dayz ripoff. There's plenty of people out there who want to play Dayz, but cant due to it being on PC. They're just taking advantage of that fact. Plenty of minecraft ripoffs in the xbox indie game store. Was Blur a ripoff of mario kart? Was Twisted Metal a ripoff of mario kart?

It doesn't really matter as long as they're not calling it HayZ (WarZ) then they can't get in trouble for it.

They're taking ideas from one game, building their own game with those ideas from the ground up. Who doesn't do that in any industry? (burger king now has a ripoff of the big mac. they even said something along the lines of it being a ripoff on their commercial)

Also given the chance I would probably leave this game in the Rust...err I mean dust for DayZ. Well that is if it came to consoles, and all the kinks were worked out.

I don't know how big PLanetside 2 is, but the idea of having 1000 people in a world sounds awesome. Well if it's big enough.

My only complaint so far is the ground is too bare. Needs more foliage.

Great stuff as far as I'm concerned. Was looking forward to Day Z appearing on PS4, but seems like this has taken the concept and really brought it to a new level. Looking forward to this very much.

Is there an option for third person... maybe a stupid question but I always played DayZ in third person and it would become unnerving in first person :P

Come'on SOE I don't want to run around in a open world where EVERYBODY running around in T-Shirts & straight-leg jeans. Let's see some people cover themselves more smartly. More clothes diversity here! By the way will there be weather effects in-game like rain/storms or winter seasons with SNOW in this game? since it happens in middle america will F1-to F5 Tornadoes occasionally show up and fuck everybody up infected/survivors alike?
