SMASHWORX was successful in their Kickstarter campaign to bring their game The Hero Trap to PC, Mac, Linux, PS4, and PS Vita. The game is a Gauntlet-inspired dungeon runner with randomly generated levels and multiple character classes.
VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "As time went on it became clear that many of these projects were hobbyist titles and a large amount of the developers had never actually researched the practicalities of launching a game on Vita, leading to an ever-increasing number of cancellations over the years. And yet some delivered. It’s this I’m aiming to examine in this article – how many projects succeeded in reaching the Vita, how many failed, and how many are in limbo, as well as a conclusion on the overall state of Kickstarter (and other crowdfunding sources) on the handheld."
Josh Griffiths writes: "Smashworx and Mikros intentionally lowered the funding goal in an effort to make money. That’s what many would call “scummy,” or “shady,” and other words that being with ‘sh.’ Much like Studio Kontrabida, they were hoping to use those funds to create a prototype to pitch to publishers."
Another Kickstarter project has failed to come to fruition as The Hero Trap has ended development.
Nice i cant wait for this game the Gameplay look a bit like hotline miami :D
I tried out the pre-alpha build on my PC and it was fun... rough, but fun. I can't wait for this to come to the Vita. It's like Gauntlet with a Norseman. Gauntlet would have been so much cooler if you could have played as a viking.
VITA VITA VITA VITA = ALIVE!!
It looks really fun and cute.
hmm i didnt know about this game not for the ps4 or any other platform. 20+ generated levels sounds a bit much for a game like this.
