Top 10 Games You Don't Want People To Know You Play

Alex St-Amour from 3GEM writes: 'We all have them: those deep, dirty secrets that we hope our friends and families never, ever find out for fear of embarrassment or banishment to some far-away island. These shameful secrets are the games hiding in your collection that you rush to conceal when people come over and say that they belong to your little sister if you’re found out.'

I couldn't disagree more with this. Why would i care what anyone thought when it comes to the games i played ?

The choices were crap as well, most of these games are really popular.

Agreed. If you play games and have fun, you should be proud and not care what others think of you.

I always make fun of friends when I find out they play Candy Crush or Angry Birds. And they made fun of me when they found out I bought Nintendogs (and, even worse, that the package was lost and I never got it).

It's a friends rule: never let them know about EVERYTHING you like to play, or to watch, or to listen to. Not that I'm ashamed of liking Britney Spears...

SegaGamer3658d ago

Why ? that is so pathetic. People should be able to enjoy what they like without being ridiculed.

GuruMeditation3658d ago

@SEGAisBETTER I agree in principle that that's how it SHOULD be, but as a gamer of nearly 3-decades, I've seen people ripped to shreds (in each successive generation) for their gaming preferences. I'm more inclusive, but have always been in the minority on that one...

Nerdmaster3658d ago (Edited 3658d ago )

@SEGAisBETTER
Because it's funny to make fun of friends who like "stupid" things. Geez, it's unreal to have to explain something like this. You... do have some friends, right?

It's like someone said "I jumped from behind my couch to scare my friend and he screamed like a little girl. It was freaking funny" and you said "That's pathetic, why would you want to scare your friend? They have the right to come over to your house without being afraid of what's in the corner". That's just things friends do. If don't do any of these stuff... well... time for you to find some (new) friends, I guess...

SegaGamer3657d ago (Edited 3657d ago )

What you are saying are totally different things.

Having a laugh at your friend when you jump out and scare them is a lot different than taking the piss out of the things they enjoy.

I'm not the one that needs new friends here, me and my mates don't need to take the piss out of each other. That is not being friends at all.

Nerdmaster3657d ago (Edited 3657d ago )

Oh, come on! You're taking this all too seriously. This list show just those "guilty pleasures" that everybody has. You're acting like "10 games you don't want people to know you play" means "if people found out about these games they would ridicule you and make you need 10 years of therapy to get over it". Nobody said anything about taking the piss out of anybody.

It feels like you're just taking it personal, maybe because somebody made you feel really bad about something you like, or because there's a game you really like on the list and you are proud of liking it. But it's just you.

Don't take things too seriously, dude. See Grave's post below. That's the mood of this list - games that are guilty pleasures that we are not exactly proud to say we play it, but we're not really ashamed or try to keep it a secret. Or like when I said I liked Britney Spears. See randomass171 response to Grave. It was making fun of the fact that he (maybe) plays it, but there wasn't any humiliation or "piss taking".

I would've thought that Secret of the Magic Crystals would be on there, not that I play it. ... I DON'T play it!
