Metro Redux coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One?

One of our exclusive user reports that in July it plans to launch Metro Redux for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One . It is a comprehensive collection of Metro 2033, Metro Last Light and its downloadable content available with major graphical improvements especially for the console versions.

Sounds about right. Was enjoying the free version on PS+, but let's face it, the game looks terrible on last-gen platforms. At least on a 55" TV. I will pick this up for sure.

Although I am one of the gamers who object, this is one remake I'm picking up because I enjoyed the first Metro game alot but didn't get a chance to play Last Light.

That being said though, you're right, no one has to buy something they don't want to play. Thing is, I'd rather see the developers, the studios and the industry as a whole focusing their resources and minds on moving forward, innovate gaming instead of selling us the same things again and again. Thats why I'm against constant remakes and ports.

...and I'm sure no gamer wants another studio to close because of X Y Z. The games industry is becoming like the music business...If your game don't hit, you're out.

So if this is what they gotta do to survive closure or raise capital for new IP, I'll support (some of) that.

It's totally easy for us to objectify, since we aren't fronting the 10's of millions, sometimes 100 mil + to develop AAA games. This industry is risk based.

The alternative is even less games and the same old dry, stale IP year after year after year.

To the point, its true that the past years the industry has become more cruel and tough on developers, with studios constanly closing down.

When the profits are being reinvested for future new IPs, and to offer a financial stability I agree its for a good cause.

All I'm saying is that its also a dangerous path that can "consume" greedy CEOs to mainly milk out remakes.

For example you'd think that after Halo 4, 343 would focus on shaping up themselves and delivering a good next gen Halo game. Instead, it looks like MS has pushed for a H2 remake, after the success that Halo Anniversary had.

I have a feeling we will see more of these, ports of last gen games to next gen. The Mass Effect trilogy remake is already on the works, the Last of Us, Halo 2, a couple of Final Fantasy games already, etc. If these are a success, why not do the same with the Uncharted and Gears of War trilogies?

I just hope the balance is kept between new, original IPs and the old good ones that do deserve a second playthrough.

Makes sense to bring them to next gen consoles. Metro2033 might need some retooling considering that a couple graphics options are completely broken, but last light is pretty much packaged and ready to ship.

It's great huh? ....a ton of these games had stability/visual issues on last gen. But now the developers can totally realise the original vision on next gen consoles.

This happens alot during the crossover year for new consoles. Also, last gen was pretty damn long and alot of these crazy games like crysis and metro suffered because of it.

Raising the lowest common denominator is always a good thing. Its just better smoother gamerplay and mor eeye candy for us

I see it as developers getting practice on the processes of development on the new current generation which will make their next game that much better.

I just see it as lazyness for example look how many times RE4 has been redone. Seriously give us a new fallout or a new mass effect.

I hope both PS4 and the One put out lots of the great games from the past two years, including some already out on the 360 and PS3, because those systems made games look pretty terrible compared to even a midrange PC.

I have consoles and a PC, and I do not flash my PC Master Race ID Card for an ego trip, but I do feel sorry for people who claim that games "look good" on the PS3 or 360 when they haven't played the PC version. The differences between the One and PS4 - at least for a few years - will certainly be tolerable enough to sit on a couch with a controller.

That said, devs really did a fantastic job eeking out the quality they did on a half gig of RAM due to the nature of closed systems.

I have Metro 2033 on Steam from a Humble Bundle, just haven't got round to starting it.

I have Metro: Last Last for PS3 through PS+, but obviously not started until I finished 2033.

I will snatch this up.

I will pick this up but I have to admit that I generally don't like remakes/ports. It has become very popular the past 2-3 years in the gaming industry, and frankly I'd rather see developers and studios working on new, innovative and original games rather than just recycling old ones with better, fancier visuals.

What a load of sh!t, i'm pretty annoyed, I was holding off playing Metro The Last Night because I read rumours of a PS4 version, then the developer come and said "no PS4 version is being planned at this time" so when it was released on PS+ I played it

Now all of a sudden we have next gen versions ffs

Some people want that I dont!Gaming should move forward,i dont see why i should play the same game again just because it haves nice graphics;the gameplay its and will always be the same.The focus should be on better and new gameplay on new games and Ips,not rehash old stuff again.But i guess publishers are seeing that they have people that buy this only because of a graphic bump so they are doing all this rehashing!
