Xbox One Titanfall and PS4 Infamous Second Son :The First Killer Games of the Eighth Generation?

Was Microsoft's sacrifice worth the additional sales?
Microsoft's willingness to cut $60 to $100 off the Xbox One's price a mere four months into its life cycle is troubling. The company clearly thinks that Titanfall, which is also available for Windows and the Xbox 360, is its best chance to catch up to the PS4.

Sony, on the other hand, didn't make any sacrifices and is still reaping the rewards of soaring Infamous: Second Son sales. Therefore, Microsoft investors should wait and see if Titanfall can maintain its momentum to see if its margin-sacrificing bundling strategy was worth it.

Wouldn't say it's bad news for microsoft that infamous has sold so well. As far as I can tell titanfall has sold pretty well and that's mhat MS want at the end of the day. Haven't played it so don't know if it's as good as they say but infamous definitely deserved it's sales. Stunning game!!

Played the first two in the series. Both left me bored after the quests were done.(user made quests only extended the enjoyment for a little longer)
I was also disappointed with the endings of the second game.
The third entry had better do way better in terms of gameplay and replay value or i won't even bother keeping it once i get a ps4...

ninsigma3674d ago

I completely agree. I just couldn't get into the first one so never finished it and never even tried the second. All I know is that I've really been enjoying SS. Spent a lot of time on the side stuff rather than the story which is something I wouldn't usually do. I'm not sure how much different the gameplay is compared to the older ones but for me its really enjoyable and the gameplay is so fluid. Delsin is a great character imo and they seemed to have made all the right choices when developing it. Though saying that I haven't finished the story yet so I'll just have to wait and see if it continues to wow me :)

Infamous ss is more of a killer game among the 2 considering its available only on a Ps4. The mad rise is Ps4 sales is a testament to that. TF sold well but not as well as m$ hoped,I wudnt even call it an 8th gen game.

wonderfulmonkeyman3674d ago (Edited 3674d ago )

Sales don't define what generation a console is in.
Nor does power or graphics or opinions.
I wish people would stop using incorrect definitions for the term "next gen"...

ninsigma3674d ago

Correct sales don't define a game as next gen but at the same time Tf hasn't given us much more than what we've experienced on previous gens.

Hicken3674d ago

The hell are you saying? Who said anything about determining next gen by sales? Sometimes I wonder if you just take words and redefine them to mean what you want. Reminds me of my ex.

Super Mario 3D World was the first killer game of the eighth generation.

cruzngta3674d ago

Infamous is a true next gen game visuals and all. Titanfall is a cool game but not so groundbreaking that I would say 'true next gen' experience. Have both and play them both alot.

MasterCornholio3674d ago

I agree with you that Titanball looks like a last gen game to me.

Know nothing about infamous so cant judge that game ,but def Titanfall has the goods.

100%, locked 60fps and still look great all these years later, same with the expansion, definitely worth a look if people haven't played it yet, not the best games ever made but a good experience, hopefully a new infamous gets released

KwietStorm_BLM97d ago

Never was my favorite infamous, but it was definitely a graphics showcase early on PS4. Still plays well with the unlocked frame rate.

SDuck97d ago

Still remember getting hyped about this game nearing release. Funny because I never even got a PS4. Jumped from PS3 to PC so I never played it ahahaha

OmegaSoldati96d ago

Its a good game. But thats it. Congratulations you made the best choice. I dream to have a great PC one day.

Profchaos97d ago (Edited 97d ago )

Graphically It's a absolutely stunning game that still holds up today.

Didn't have all that much depth to it forcing you to play though twice for a platinum trophy a good and bad run it was a little disappointing how similar those were Delsin would be like I'm not doing that for you in a cutscene but the cutscene would play out and force you to do it anyway just as you would of in a good run

I did like the story however it got a lot of complaints back in the day people hated playing as Delsin instead of cole despite Coles story being wrapped up.

Overall though the map wasn't overly saturated with useless points of interest there was some collectibles and things to find but nothing compared to a Ubisoft game.

I think it was a good game if a little hollow I've played it through around 4 times now since it's so short.

Also it's DLC was great a full story expansion

I've played 15, and I wouldn't consider any of those underrated TBH. Some of them are pretty high rated.

banger88129d ago

That's amazing, Gamingbolt actually put all 15 games on the same page.

shinoff2183127d ago

I. Not seeing anything on that list underrated. I never played concrete genie, the ASTRO vr,and one other but I forgot the name already. Nothing on there was underrated at all imo.

persona4chie127d ago

There’s only 4 of those games I never played, and no most of those aren’t underrated.
