Candy Crush Saga developer drops 16% on first day, drop spreads to other mobile games

King will need to convince investors that Candy Crush Saga is the beginning, not the end. The company fell 16% by the close of trading on day one of its IPO. This means that right now, it is worth about a billion dollars less than originally believed. Other companies also felt the sting of King's offering.

Good Good let this be the next Zynga and fall completely off the map

The day they go under, is a day gamers everywhere should celebrate. I know I will, as they are a blight on gaming as a whole.

Darth Gamer3681d ago

I truly hope this company/developer goes under. The way they have treated the rest of their peers is disgusting and I believe it won't be long before they've gone the way of the dodo bird.

Ittoryu3681d ago

I honestly believe with the new consoles out the whole mobile market is going to take a serious hit.

darthv723681d ago

That seems a tad disheartening. If anything the mobile market is where a lot of smaller indies release their wares to test the waters to see how well they are received before jumping into the shark tank with consoles.

Ittoryu3681d ago

Mobile is on the decline its just how it goes. Im not saying its going to die but it's not going to be like it has been.

KonsoruMasuta3681d ago (Edited 3681d ago )

Mobile isn't on the decline, it's actually getting bigger. I'm not a big mobile gamer but it's foolish to say that the market is on the decline.

GentlemenRUs3681d ago (Edited 3681d ago )

That's what you get for trying to sue everyone with CANDY or SAGA in their name.

Karma's a Bitch!

Agree, might want to correct "Kerma" to karma though. Unless you spelled it that way on purpose.

Darth Gamer3681d ago

Funny but all I could see in my head after reading his comment was Kermit from the muppets totting a machine gun going ballistic. lol

They actually call them "levels"? Hahaha.

Palitera1753d ago (Edited 1753d ago )

Amazing! Congrats for keeping the game alive and relevant for so long. This and Angry Birds defined casual mobile gaming.

DarXyde1753d ago

The story of Candy Crush is kind of a sad one. Some other guy suffered pretty badly because King is bigger than he is.

"This company called King was talking about creativity. I was like, ‘What?’" - Josef Fares

From VG247: "During GameLab, Barcelona, last week, we sat in on a panel discussion between A Way Out director Josef Fares and Quantic Dream’s David Cage. In the panel, Fares had some choice words to say about mobile game developer King.

King is owned by Activision and creates games such as Candy Crush Saga and lots of other games with ‘Saga’ at the end. The studio’s games generate money through microtransactions."
