idk it depends if rockstarr feels its worth it or not.

GTAIII sold 17.5M on the ps2 alone, when the total was 21M for all platforms (then hitting 27M total in the endish)

GTAvc sold i think around the same... i forget (all platforms).

SA sold over 27M (all platforms)

long sgory short: GTAV sold 33M as of Feb. 2014 (what did it release in october?), so it sold 33M in about 5 MONTHS, without PC.... i doubt its comming, i think piracy would eat that game alive and i dont think Rockstarr wants people to play their game they worked really hard on, for free..
i think they would benifit more if they used that time to start on another game, or spent it perfecting the Online or w/e. they probably make more money on the MT's than they would make on PC after using resources to port it. GTAonline seemed like a headache for them getting ppl to not cheat or glitch, PC games would be uncontrollable, lmao.

TheBurger293678d ago

yea it be a shame if pc people could mod it to actually be fun.

PoSTedUP3678d ago (Edited 3678d ago )

yeah, super fun and super free, that's totally what pc people deserve... /s.

lfc_4eva3678d ago

Piracy isn't the prevail of just pc you know.
Since going back to pc gaming, after a stint with both xbox and ps3, I've used steam and origin primarily. Now I know these platforms do not guarantee zero piracy, but they can deter the pc gamer who wants to then go and play online, because they need to play through these platforms.

The notion that people who pay good money for a decent pc, then cannot afford to go buy the games is getting very old now.

PoSTedUP3678d ago (Edited 3678d ago )

@ifc. its not that notion. the facts are in the sales #'s. amd another example would be BlackOps2 (huge game), sold like 6-7M on PS3 the first week, 7-8M on 360 the first week, guess how much it sold on pc the first week.. 0.4M. spending money on a nice rig actually has absolutely nothing to do with people buying games. piracy is on consoles too, but, like, not nearly as much as on pc, obviously.. and dont get me wrong, some games will sell ok on PC, it also depends on the game but when compared to its console counterpart, its usually a big difference.

clouds53678d ago

It's sad. The game has so much potential on PC with mods and everything. You can feel how they had to be conservative and cut corners with the console version.
But rockstar didn't release red dead redemption for pc so it's very possible that they won't release gta v either. I feel like there would have been an announcement by now if they planned on releasing it...

Vegamyster3678d ago

@PoSTedUP

Call of Duty isn't big on the PC anymore because the VAC anticheat engine doesn't do shit and they used it for all the CoD games after 4, also the developers don't seem to care either. That being said they still sell enough copies on the platform for them to be profitable.

webeblazing3678d ago

GTA and RED is the only game from rock star that's worth buying. They Dont make manhunt or midnight club. I didn't like max pain it was just shiney gfx. What happened to agent I was waiting all last gen for it. So at this point if they Dont release a PC version I'm done with rock star just like cap com, and SE. I Dont support devs that treat you like the dumb blonde, and they rare release enough games that I would be feeling like I'm messing out.

PoSTedUP3678d ago (Edited 3678d ago )

@vega, well even for cod4 the community manager at IW said that they saw a "distrubing" number of people playing cod4 online on pirated copys. its just the facts. and mw2 sold a little better than cod4, on pc. so it grew, it didnt become "unpopular" after cod4. and imo, the more something grows on pc, the more it gets pirated. same for consoles, but on a much smaller scale.

Vegamyster3678d ago (Edited 3678d ago )

@PoSTedUP According to VGchartz MW1 sold 300k more then MW2, MW3 sold better but the community plummeted due hacks were available day 1 because they didn't bother to improve security over MW2. The Witcher 2 was pirated 4.5 million times but was still profitable and CD Projekt has a more realistic idea on the subject.

"For some people, piracy, it's in a way trying the games because...some people treat it [like] some kind of a trial. Some people just cannot afford it in the full price. And ultimately, I believe that if we treat these people right, then at some point, be it mid-price or maybe budget, they will go out and buy our game"

-Iwinski

PoSTedUP3678d ago (Edited 3678d ago )

i didnt say it cant be profitable, but when i said MW2 sold more than MW1, that was a direct statement from IW, so they prob know more than vgchartz and are including digital sales. i would never use vgcharts in a debate, personally.

and that quote makes sense a little, but its also just a bunch of hoping that some of the thiefs will buy the game, which is realistic, but commnsense, yeah some people intend to use it as a trial but im sure the majority know wha they are doing. i wouldnt condone stealing either tho. but it depends on the game and development cost wheher itsgonna be profitable with lower sales on pc. imo, if you dont pay for it, you dont deserve to play their work of art. so it has more to do with principles and morals than some companys trying to look at it in a positive way bc it is inevitable. but im sure we can all agree that the sales would be much better if it was hard to or impossible to pirate games, therefore it hurts the industry in general. any kind of stealing does. but kudos to the devs who are trying to embrace that fact and get some of thoes people to buy it.

starchild3678d ago (Edited 3678d ago )

Why do you guys pick and choose only certain games to try and bash the PC?

You ignore the fact that the vast majority of multiplatform games can be found on the PC. The PC gets games it shares with the PS4, it gets games it shares with the XB1, then it gets exclusives from PC centric developers, and in the end it gets more games than any other platform.

You ignore the fact that every platform misses out on particular games. You can't play Titanfall, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell Conviction, Mark of the Ninja, Metro 2033, Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare or The Witcher 2 on any Playstation console for example. But you CAN play those games on a PC or Xbox console.

So clearly the PC is a profitable platform otherwise developers/publishers wouldn't put so many of their games on the platform.

And the sales numbers bear this out. PC game sales as a whole generate far more revenue than any single console. In fact, more than any two consoles combined. I'm sick of posting the links to prove this since console fanboys like yourselves simply ignore them, but the facts are out there for you to verify for yourself if you really want to know the truth.

PoSTedUP3678d ago

that really doesnt have anything to do with what IM talking about, starchild.

when you compare multiplat games, with the majority of them (probably all of them), one single console sells way more than on pc.

everything else you said, well, i guess it wasnt in reply to me bc i didnt mention revenue in general or which platform gets what game, and that has nothing to do with the fact that a lot of games get pirated. but i mean cmon, with the ammount of indies, mmos, and games that dont make it to consoles, there are too many for consoles to compete with. the revenue of console is mostly made up of the bigger games (up until this recent boom of indies) but pc has far more games, way more indies, way more F2P, so many more mmos etc. that make up that revenue. but when you take ones console counterpart and compare it on the other hand.... is what im talking about. thats where piracy steps in, for some reason. and may be why gtaV might not make it to pc.

Would you rather have Rockstar waste money on this or work on new games ?

Bonkerz3678d ago

This ship sailed long time ago, its way to late now for this to be ported to next gen or PC anyway. Rockstars best chance was january, theres to many Next gen titles coming soon. If it comes down to GTA 5 or watch dogs you best believe im getting watch dogs.

Kingnichendrix3678d ago

Actually you are wrong they are in fact currently testing it on pc in the Rockstar in the city I live in

Yukicore3677d ago

Please do tell me more, how do you know this?

Kingnichendrix3676d ago

My friend is a game tester there I cant obviously tell you his name but they are testing it

Software_Lover3678d ago

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has a GTA not made it to PC? It started on PC. Just play the waiting game a little while longer.

x_RadicalAura_x3678d ago

Just like you played the waiting game for Red Dead Redemption?

Moncole3678d ago

RDR was made by Rockstar San Diego and they hardly put their games on PC.

Software_Lover3678d ago

................ I didn't know this article was about Red Dead Redemption.

Many people, including myself probably but I can't remember because I don't go back and check old posts or news, were wrong about RDR. GTA is a totally different monster.

RamboRabbi3678d ago

Rockstar will eventually release a crappy port that modders will make their own just like GTA iv.

Rockstar need to learn that 12 years of work and 5000 employees doesn’t account for one persons opinion on the internet…

Profchaos34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

Oh and hundreds of millions of dollars in revanue to boot.

Lots of complaints about gta ever since the hd era started and yet it's bugger than its ever been with gta vi up to 180 million trailer views alone. The next game is shaping it be be another genre defining game

MetalGearsofWar34d ago

They already learned they dont have to actually make a great game

sagapo34d ago

The controls of RDR2 felt a but cluncky indeed, but it’s not as bad as some make it out to be. At no point did I get the feeling my experience with the game was held back or ruined by the controls.
But it can never hurt to optimize them a bit, sure.

Zhipp34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

I did accidentally beat someone to death a couple times. An unfortunate mistake but besides that I didn't have any problems with the controlls

jznrpg34d ago

Red Dead Redemption felt clunky at first but I got used to it fairly quick. I thought 2 was easier to control but it could be my experience with the first game helped me out. Great games

Profchaos34d ago

I wouldn't call Rockstar games characters clunky instead they feel like they move with Weight they are not twitch controls press x to instantly snap onto cover the characters instead move like a actor would ducking behind cover they are exposed while they get there.
