Metal Gear Solid V was originally a launch title for PS4 and Xbox One

The creator of Metal Gear said recently in a exclusive interview that Metal Gear Solid V was planned as a launch title for PS4 and Xbox One, but there wasn't enough time to complete the production because the game is described as "huge".

Well I'm glad it wasn't one and came out rushed. Glad to see more time being put into the game.

Aleithian3682d ago

Agreed. The game must be huge if they need an extra year+ to work on it before release. I'm happy with GZ for the moment.

hay3682d ago

That "wasn't rushed" part I won't agree at all.

Was I the only one riddled with glitches in Ground Zeroes? Freezing loadings, freezing map loading during a f*cking battle scenario(new and awesome map system), uninspired stretched Peacewalker missions(using sound to find area: shitload of other games, find a contact, save a POV, kill two dudes, even freaking Deja Vu mission did not bring any Deja Vu in me AT ALL). This is not a tutorial.

It's a TESTING GROUND because making it a full game of all those changes would be too risky for Konami to agree for.

No_Limit3682d ago

What? So why can't they just give as a proper prologue based on the actual MGSV and make it a bit longer than what is on Ground Zero?

-EvoAnubis-3682d ago

So instead Konami had him make a demo, and because Konami has their heads up their asses they decided to make people pay for that demo.

And thus was born Ground Zeroes.

just like driveclub and watch dogs

Ethereal3682d ago (Edited 3682d ago )

Its not a demo everyone, play it before you jump on the media bandwagon...

Aleithian3682d ago

Once I completed the main mission, I was kind of disheartened. But after booting up again today and checking what I unlocked, I'm now firmly in support of MGS:GZ again. It is not a demo, has hours upon hours of gameplay, and is a great opportunity to get used to the new open world format. In fact, the new format completely changes the MGS landscape - the game is HARD. I'll need the practice before playing Phantom Pain.

-EvoAnubis-3682d ago

It has exactly one story mission. That takes 90 for an even halfway competent gamer to complete, much less for a better player. And then there's a final cutscene, and then there's the credits, and then there's a trailer for The Phantom Pain.

It's a demo. And I really wish that people would stop trying to claim otherwise.

Grown Folks Talk3682d ago

You unlock extra missions by completing the main one. Having just started my 1st side mission, it shows me at 8% completion.

-EvoAnubis-3682d ago (Edited 3682d ago )

@Grown Folks Talk: Extra missions are exactly that: "extra." As in, in addition to the actual game.

Let me back up to be a bit more clear. I've been harping on the time it takes to complete this game as justification for calling it a demo, but that's not my main point.

With an actual game that has a strong story element, you get and entire story. A beginning, a middle, and an end. This story is capable of standing on its own. Examples: inFamous: Festival of Blood was its own story, beginning to end. It stood independently of anything that happened in inFamous 2. The same can be said for things like Assassin's Creed: Freedom Cry, Gone Home, or any other of a plethora of short games.

Ground Zeroes did NOT tell its own story, because its not its own game. It's simply a piece (and a small one at that) of a larger game. Like the MGS2 demo that had the full Tanker section - didn't tell its own story, was apart of a larger game...which was the point because it was a DEMO.

Which is exactly what Ground Zeroes is. Period point blank.

elninels3682d ago

Its more than a demo, less than a full, AAA, $60 game. Everyone needs to relax on it, phantom pain will fulfill us all anyway.

cooperdnizzle3682d ago (Edited 3682d ago )

Yea you have no idea what you are talking about. There are 6 missions. Not to mention each mission has new hostages to capture, and the fact that there is multiple ways to beat the first mission. And the last mission for the ps4 is super long if you go through and find every secret. Took me like two hours just to get that one mission done. On top of every other mission. And I am still only at 40% complete. And just so you no the tanker mission in metal gear was never released as a demo, not in full. The demo you could play 10 mins at most. You could not complete that mission on the demo, not even half of that mission.

JetsFool35003682d ago

Kojima clearly said its for the die hard mgs fans if you think its a demo dont buy & leave it alone stop bitchin

Ethereal3680d ago

Apparently people misunderstand the meaning of a demo. Last I checked, I have never put over 3.5 hours into a demo and still have 4 mission to play....

Oh please its a glorified demo and I own it.

-EvoAnubis-3682d ago (Edited 3682d ago )

See, at least you can be sensible about it and call a spade a spade.

cooperdnizzle3682d ago

If you own it then tell me who makes a cameo in the game???

DaGR8JIBRALTAR3682d ago

Dont know about you but I'm loving it....suck at it but im loving it.

Now we'll have to see how much the Master Collection will add to those numbers.

Number1TailzFan168d ago

Too bad it was a lazy release. They could've updated the visuals and everything. Missed opportunity.

Stanjara168d ago

...and yet, they couldn't give more respect and effort into the collection.
What a terrible company.

Minute Man 721168d ago (Edited 168d ago )

Are they counting every game?

Edit: they did

Nyxus168d ago

Yes, these are total lifetime sales of the entire series.

Yea I don’t get why they’re allowing old reviews to be posted here. Someone did one on Soul Reaver and I got so excited thinking there was some stealth release of an HD Remaster, but no… it’s just someone who had a slow day posted an old review…

Cacabunga184d ago

I liked the game but for me it felt somehow like a military simulator rather than a proper MGS.. i got bored of that

micdagoat19184d ago

I do wish they would remaster all the soul reavers

micdagoat19184d ago

it was done this morning though

goldwyncq184d ago

The author was in a coma for 9 years and didn't get to play the game when it released.

Chocoburger184d ago

This review arrived just in time for launch. Perfect timing!

RupeeHoarder184d ago

Amazing how bad this game looks already. We keep acting like this gen doesn't feel like an update but I think we're starting to see it.

YourMommySpoils184d ago

Looks better than Starfield, Cyberpunk and most recent games out. Still fine.

RupeeHoarder184d ago

It most certainly does not lol.

andy85184d ago

Have you player Cyberpunk since the first day? It's absolutely stunning now

1nsomniac184d ago

One of the worst games ever made. Absolute overhyped trash!

Snowb420184d ago

The gameplay was great. It was the tacked on open world and repetitive missions that messed the game up.

Shane Kim184d ago

The game started really strong in that hospital, but after a couple of hours I wondered if it was even an mgs game I was playing.

KyRo184d ago

The hospital section was the only bit that felt like a MGS game.

MGS4 was the ending for me. I totally ignore the fact 5 exists. It didn't need to exist tbh
