People don't see it as a 'bad' thing. They see it as a bad thing that Sony just says something generic without actually giving a list of what they fixed. Most people would prefer a changelist style of release note so they know what's actually been changed.

I wish they'd list a fix for the constant eject issue I've been having. I refuse to send in my console until I know if it's a software or hardware issue, because I don't want to re-download everything on my ISP's ridiculous monthly bandwidth restrictions (250GB limit, $10/50GB after). I just want to know what's up. Sony is still silent on this.

This is a pretty common problem. Take a google for it. There are a ton of people experiencing this, and rebuilding the database on the system always provides a temporary fix. So if the problem can be temporarily fixed via software, perhaps it can be permanently fixed via software?

We only view it as a bad thing because its all by itself, and the PS4's UI needs a LOT of improvement/additions.

But, really, gamers should be used to tedious, incremental hardware updates. If we're lucky, the UI will be halfway decent by 2005's standards sometime in 2016.

I wish they mute hdmi audio when using optical. Seems fairly standard and is really one of the few gripes I have with ps4. Minor yes but still a little annoying.

It would be good to have a list of changes but its no big deal. The interface on PS4 is really good anyway so any improvements are going to just make it better. If you dont like PS4s interface then go back PS3... didnt think you would lol

No one is viewing this as a bad thing, people are literally just waiting for a list of features requested even before the PS4 launched that are still not available - yet there has been 6 updates in 5 months which still doesn't add the most requested: DLNA

So everytime you see a report about a PS4 update, people get excited - just to see it really adds nothing of use as far as a consumer is concerned.

336 MB weighs the same as 335 MB. You don't measure MB in weight.

Size and density or weight are two completely different things.

Hence why you can have something the size of a small basketball weight more than an entire car, if it was dense and heavy enough.

2.0 should be the major update with some of the features that PS4 fans have been asking for. Though not always the case, major updates are usually branded with the next integer as its version. This is how Sony usually structured their update agenda for PSP, PS3, and PSVita.

I don't understand this "frequently" myth that some people go on about firmware updates, do you really consider 6 updates in 5 months as frequent?

I would rather have updates often than none at all, they're not costing you anything and they only exist to IMPROVE your experience at the end of the day.

Well Blaze , the Xbox One had as many firmwares update than the ps4 , and actually accelerated their rate with big consecutive ones since february .

People forget there was more missing (like twitch) and more to fix (like sounds volume issues , 50hz , friend list , the mediocre sharpening filter to remove , party chat etc) on XB1 .

FYI i got both consoles you know . And how is the app rushed on ps4 ? It actually worked and still works well , mostly missing stream archives . MS was obviously reacting , to their own last minutes changes to begin with , and not ready yet for some features . Their twitch app is now ready and yet better , doesnt mean the competition wont react and improve in turn lol ...

I aint even saying everything is rosy . The XB1 was missing more at launch with some basic functions not even working well .. the ps4 had stuf to fix too , even if , apprently in lesser amounts . Both still do and are still missing promised features , some teased with a "Soon" .

And yet here with are with BSers trying to pretend they had less firmware updates , when it is a fact they had the same amount , or pretending one did much more than the other in that area .

If you are truly on a plan like that and you plan on sticking with the PS4 or X1 for this gen, you won't make it. The game downloads will make it nigh impossible for you to enjoy your gaming.

i gonna have to agree with rip and mixelon, 1gb cap ? thats not a good connection, what part of the world are you in buddy with a cap like that ? you using mobile internet with nfc ? or is it a very cheap package your on ?
my mother had a bt account and i didnt realise she had a 5gb cap, i bought a game online and it was a 24gb download, eek bt happily charged me an extra 5 quid for ever extra 5 gig, eek.
still if your on pc/ps4/xbox and even 360 and ps3, your neva gonna do much with 1gb online.

I don't really have glitches, but the PS4 OS is a little clunky. Sometimes it freezes up for a sec or 2 when moving through the menus and titles. It's an issue with the OS, or drivers or something on PS4 right now, because it's definitely not just me that has this happen on their PS4. They need to get that taken care of, because the dashboard comes up pretty instant, but it's pointless how instant it is if things are gonna freeze for like 4 seconds right after I start moving around the selection bar.

Or its probably your hard drive, mine did that whenever I turned it on before warming up my room from about 20°f to 65°f+, so yeah a cold system will reflect that, during its operations.

we really need the messages from ps3 to ps4 to stop. To clarify any message i send/receive on either systems get sent to the other one again the next time i log in. really stacks up the inbox.

The only thing I've noticed is the wonky way it treats browser tabs when it's low on memory to display stuff.. it just randomly drops images sometimes. Otherwise mine is totally responsive.

It's crazy people complain about the updates like they get in the way or something. As long as it doesn't brick my console I welcome them even if I dont see the results in some huge new feature. Some People are never happy with anything

Improvements are great but they had a laundry list of things people wanted. They gave the replies of "coming soon" but ffs sony you need to shit or get off the pot. Get the whip cracking on the promised features. At least get the twitch app updated your competitor has already one upped you on that.

Sony has been really quiet about the updates. We all know they are working on something. I would assume DNLA, MP3 playback, 3D bluray playback are all coming. Relax and play some Infamous.

The worst is when you are running an alert 8 man or whatever and you have to load into different zones. I always assume DCUO will crash. I should have to worry about that nonsense. If this FW fixes that... who cares about the other features, for now. Stability is priority.

The update with features and so will come soon, according to me. This was a painless and fast operation for my PS4, i didn't even notice that the patch was downloaded and installed.
I don't know why people keep complaining about EVERYTHING, after all it's a free update that "improves" something.

Don't really mind "stability improvements" because my ps4 crashed a couple weeks ago and sent in an error report. It would be nice to have some features added in along with the stability improvements though.

Expect more updates going forward ,and even a driver update to the cpu and gpu can possible be expected to match the improvements that are been made in the main API of the Ps4.Also the latest improvements on Direct3D that OpenGL’s is implementing to match mantle will some how and in some form end up on the PS4 Api library so updates for improvements will be plenty.

First if you got a PS4 or even an Xboxone you got to have a fast ISP .
If you are limited to 1-5G download size per month only then you better consider to change for a better ISP service.

Digital downloads are skyrocking on the PS4 and it is destroying the Xboxone in downloads done. Maybe it is because we can change the HDD on the PS4 for one much larger.

Anyways , if ppl are making a lot downloads on the PS4 I bet they don't use a 3G ISP and they will not complain about a 300 Megas update monthy since they downloading games all the time that range from 500 Megas -near 50Gigabyte of size.
