Massive Ban Wave Hits COD: Ghosts Players – “Will Not be Reversed,” Says Activision

MP1st - Reports are beginning to surface of a massive ban wave that appears to be primarily targeting PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 users playing Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Ghosts.

I got it for $40 bucks the other day. Enjoying campaign on veteran but online multiplayer sucks always has since I picked up battlefield nothing compares to the scale, vehicle, teamwork that battlefield has. Its an actual war when playing. Its very excites. I played cod ghost online 1 time and was like yep...nope

Agreed...I bought a Xbox One for TitanFall(of course Halo played a big role in my decision as well)and I'm loving it. Never played a game as fast paced. Every 3 seconds your killing something. It's the best most reliable MP I've played since Halo 3.

I'm done with all the competitive war fps games this gen, they all get old too quick and they're all the same thing. Run around point shoot, repeat, played one ya played em all. The only way id pick one up this gen is if it went all out and had a good campaign and destructible environments, Land combat, space combat, sea combat, air combat, mech combat, sword combat, hand to hand combat, futuristic weapons, live weather, everything all mixed into one, And just call it War.

In the campaign you start out as the first humans, building all the way from the stone ages of war to the futuristic type war you see in Star Wars and gundam wing. No one would ever want to play a different war game than this. I've got some bold game ideas, only if I were a dev.

If you get randomly put in a hacked lobby you will get banned for life.. Not exactly great selling point for future titles but great there cracking down on cheaters.. Just shows they have no time to actually find who's cheating and just ban anybody who's near anything cheating instead including innocent people.

I think I see what happened. The players who where low skilled where being marked as cheaters PUMPING the stats of other players.

Basically, they detected them as EXP pumping because they stunk at the game their kill/death rate was a high ratio.

This type of ban system brings new meaning to the online communities. People who are horrible players will get marked for abuse and ban from playing.

In essence this ban is saying "Online is no place for amateurs or casual players who lack skill. That's how I see it. The cheat detection system is treating players who lack skill as cheaters because it boost other players EXP.

I could be wrong but from what I read that's how it looked to me.

Has nothing to do with the engine, nor the security encryption. Players can easily end up in a hacked lobby in GTA Online as well.

I dont think COD Ghosts for PS4 and PS3 have dedicated servers. They shouldnt be getting on a modded server if the servers were dedicated. Modded servers on consoles are only possible on a P2P connection. But there are people who use in game glitches to gain an advantage, even on dedicated servers.

Evidently they aren't just using dedicated servers, because there shouldn't be any modding on dedicated servers. All game data is held host side with dedicated servers.

They finally found a way to ban cheaters. Instead of fixing their security in-game or just not copy pasting the same files all over again, they decide to ban innocent people. Bravo.

Activision has your money, now they don't care whether you're legit or not.
I played a F2P MMO called Conquer for a bit that has a mining mechanic in it and got thrown in their jail (jail has you use one of the items you can buy, a Dragonball, to get released) twice for NO reason. Their system for finding cheaters, which I wouldn't have known how to cheat on the game in the first place, for some reason threw me in jail and wanted me to pay to get out which I never did.
Anyway, mistakes happen on both the player and company side so telling people that have paid good money for your game that they're banned when they've done nothing wrong is messed up, and telling those people the bans will not be lifted for any reason is even more messed up. Maybe COD should just be F2P if they're going to ignore the money people spend

I spent quite a while at one point looking into the whole hacking ordeal. I think it's a bigger problem than most people realize. Tons of people out there refuse to play online shooters unless they can cheat, and they've been doing it for years so they're pretty good at hiding them. Look up some of the cheater testimonial letters, freaking ridiculous.

I really wish devs and pubs would take the whole cheating problem a little more seriously. I know quite a few people that would pay monthly for a game like battlefield 4 if it meant keeping cheaters out for good. But all they really do is have an automated process for detecting them which is usually countered within 24 hours of the released update by the hack sites. Hell, just the fact there are companies making a ton of money off of cheats is just absurd.

I hope/wish EA would do the same with battlefield (banning consoles). I think a lot of people get banned and just create a new username (it's free after all). Haven't played bf4 in a while, but watch how many people with ridiculously high scores in a game are really low rank.

This is something that has been going on for awhile. Most parents have not a clue what little Johnny has been doing on CoD. I used to get constant messages from players we previously played stating that for x amount of points they will get you into a hacked lobby to level up to prestige X. When little johnny gets caught and banned..they play the I didn't do nothing wrong plea. Believe it or not, they can see exactly what you are doing on their network. Yes, Plainly see what you have been up to. They are not going to ban you for being in the lobby, but, rather, for what you did while you were in there trying to cheat.

Mind you, there have been times when I have gotten into one of these modded lobbys and upon seeing what was going on, left. These kids that are getting banned and then saying to mom or dad, I didnt do anything wrong. They do indeed send you exactly what you did wrong in an email, the offense and the punishment or ban. Its just no public knowledge. They have a very complex system of weeding out the cheaters.

I played Ghosts a bit. Just more of the same. Nothing really wrong with it. Just old and boring now. I played BF4 on my PS4 for a while. It was better then Duty easily, but still didn't do it for me. I don't play with friends since non of them have moved up to the current gen yet. So I just got destroyed. I'd move to a building for cover, the building. came down. Respawn, same thing. Over n over again.
But I have been playing Titanfall on my X1. Wow, most fun i have had in online MP in a long time. So cool with all the movement mechanics. Then getting my Titan I become a beast.
If you wanna play Duty or battlefield, that's cool. Long as ur having fun.
I'll stick with Titanfall for my online MP.

My last Cod game was World At War. Aside from that, goes to show how bad Activition has become. Surely this is not the players responsibility - I hate players cheating but if the game is broken and allows people to hack it then that is Infinity Wards and PSN's problem to sort it out! You pay for the game, and it it's broken then you get banned for it being broken, you should be right to a refund.

My personal favourites were world at war. black ops 1 and 2,the modern warfares just didnt do it for me.
Bought battlefield (4) for the first time,gave it 2 months and couldnt get into it.sold it to get titanfall.
Nothing compares to Ghost Recon,hopefully theres one on the way.

Sledgehammer need to get out of CoD now. Treyarch, though not exactly pushing the series forward, offer a far more fun multiplayer, and that's the thing, Sledgehammer's just feel boring and hard work!
