Yea besides meta score I dont see how this is Xbox live catching up and is PS Plus only getting Tomb Raider on the PS3 this month dont we usually get two or three games a month not including vita. Like last month wasnt it Metro Last Light, Bioshock Infinite and DMC or am I mixing.

jacobvogel3686d ago

PS+ still have great weekly free games too.

GameNameFame3685d ago

Ps plus is constantly newer game compared to that ancient game from game for gold.

@jumpman
I'd rather "rent" games like UC3, Bioshock Infinite or Tomb Raider until my PS+ runs out (in 2 years and of course I'll renew) than keeping the games you get with Games With Gold

Foxhound9223685d ago

@jumpman

I'm so sick of hearing this Xbox fanboy damage control. It's the most idiotic rebuttal I hear from these comparison threads. Who cares if you don't get to keep them, as long as you have ps plus you own them. It's like saying I'd rather own a ford, than perpetually drive a ferrari for free. 99% of ps subscribers renew their subscriptions, and even more so that it's required to play competitively. I'll take top notch games that I will always have, over shitty games that I can take with me.

GameSpawn3685d ago (Edited 3685d ago )

PlayStation Plus is a great deal for anyone who owns at least ONE of the supported systems (PS3, Vita, PS4), but it REALLY pays for itself in spades when you have two to all three platforms.

Myself, I've had it for a few months before the PS4 launched to use with my PS3 and claim up Vita games in the future hope I would get a Vita (and I am BTW when the slim hits the US). Just 3 months in I was dumbfounded why the hell I never got Plus sooner -- seriously 3 months with one system basically pays for the entire year in value that you receive and everything beyond that is just gravy.

It's sad that Xbox players are getting stiffed with bargain bin games that make you feel like you just received a re-gifted item that has already passed between three to four people in a vicious re-gifting cycle. It's not that what they are giving you is bad, just that it is SO cheap at this point that it disheartens the favor and makes it seem tawdry and thoughtless.

Microsoft can easily copy Sony's "rental" model by requiring you keep your Gold membership (as few Xbox owners will be dumping their Gold membership ANYWAY since it is required for damn near everything else) to keep the games accessible and offer much newer games. Microsoft probably DOESN'T follow this model in order to maximize what profits they already do receive for Gold memberships -- they've already had a taste of that revenue, why give it up now.

I believe we had in the EU, 1x PS4, 2x PS3 & 2x PS VITA:

Dead Nation Apocalypse Edition (PS4)
Tomb Raider (PS3)
Brothers A Tale of Two Sons (PS3)
Pixeljunk Monsters Ultimate HD (PS VITA)
Smart As (PS VITA)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

Whereas in NA:
Dead Nation Apocalypse Edition (PS4)
Tomb Raider (PS3)
Thomas Was Alone (PS3/PS VITA)(cross-buy)
Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut (PS3/PS VITA) (cross-buy)
Unit 13 (PS VITA)
Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite (PSP)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

So technically not just Tomb Raider =p

For those that don't know or get their games through the consoles, it's best to get online. Just sign in and click instant game collection/free games on the left:

PS plus at one point had metro LL, Bioshock infinite, and payday 2 all at the same time. All of them valued at 40 or 50. PS plus on the ps4 isn't even that good yet, and it's already more than paid for itself. Then when you factor in the value you get with the ps3 and vita, it's unbeatable. Sorry, but xbl costs more, gives out fewer games, gives out cheaper games, doesn't have any other perks, and games with gold is only on one console vs three. PS+ is still a far better value.

geddesmond3685d ago

Lol dungeon defenders is 3 or 4 years old, maybe three cause I think that's when I played it and Civ rev is 5 or 6 years old. Catching up but still a few years behind

H0RSE3685d ago (Edited 3685d ago )

DOOM is over 20 yrs old, I guess it means it's a crap game...

Regardless of the age, fun games are fun games. Despite how many times I have played and beat it, if DOOM was offered as a free game for GWG, I would be happy to download it and play it, if I didn't already buy it off the marketplace years ago.

Magnes3685d ago

Games with gold is not even in the same league with PS+ you can't even compare. It's like comparing kids football with pro football. Even if the kids win they aren't catching the pros.

H0RSE3685d ago (Edited 3685d ago )

@Foxhound922

- Funny how you state this:

"I'm so sick of hearing this Xbox fanboy damage control."

- and than this:

"Who cares if you don't get to keep them, as long as you have ps plus you own them....99% of ps subscribers renew their subscriptions, and even more so that it's required to play competitively."

- in the same post...oh the irony.

So it's "damage control" to bring up a completely valid claim, yet not so for claiming most PS+ subscribers renew their subscriptions, so who cares anyway?...

Sounds to me that you are sick of hearing this because you can't argue against it, so you try to either downplay it, or up-play PS+, while never addressing the actual claim. Bringing up the "quality" of the games offered, is largely irrelevant and subjective, since it's ultimately different strokes for different folks.

Many talk about GWG offering games that everybody already played, yet I would argue that the new big hit releases, are the games everyone has played (or will,) and the less known games, like arcade titles for instance, are the games less people have been exposed to. Most of the games from GWG that I 1) haven't played prior, and 2) have enjoyed, have been such titles, such as Iron Brigade, Toy Soldiers, and Shoot Many Robots, while the bigger titles (regardless of age) have been games I either 1) already played (Halo 3, GoW, Crackdown) or 2) I have no interest in playing (AC2, RS:V, Sleeping Dogs.

99% of XBL users renew their subscriptions too, except in the case of GWG, they don't need to keep that subscription to play their games, and in the case of those who have a service like Gamefly, (like me) they essentially just made the free game aspect of PS+, obsolete.

Foxhound9223685d ago

Wow...just wow. I usually enjoy reading your wall of texts because they are usually pointless and do little to push across your point. In short, they are entertaining to say the least.

How did my quote about subscription renewal have anything to do with irony?Perhaps you should check the definition of irony because I don't think you know what it means. No where did I even imply that Xbox users don't renew their subscription, I was making a point how keeping them is no different than owning them with ps plus. Saying that people renew their subscriptions is not damage control either, saying one would rather own shitty games is damage control. Therefore, there's no irony either. Also, your mindless rant about the subjectivity of the games offered is hilarious. Sure, not every game offered on Xbox live is garbage. The fact of the matter is it is a wildly known fact, and a gaming consensus, that the games offered on ps plus are of higher quality. The quality of the games is "irrelevant"? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard, especially since it's the only relevant topic in this self titled article. Even most Xbox users agree that games with gold is becoming more and more eclipsed by ps plus in terms of quantity and quality games being offered.

Try in spin my post all you want but your comment is invalid. There is no damage control in my statements, and it seemed my car analogy went way over your head.

TooHigh2Die3685d ago

LOL this article is a joke Gold is not even close. In the past 2 months I've downloaded Borderlands 2, Metro Last light, Binary Domain, Brothers:TO2S, Remember Me, Outlast,Dead Nation and countless discounted games like Tales of Xillia, and Ni No Kuni.

The 50$ fee just payed for itself with the first 3 games on my list and I could of had more if I didnt already own them on Disc (Bioshock).

I dunno, ps plus has spoiled me for my ps vita/ps3/ps4 that its going to be hard to top the games they offer & thats not even including all the early beta's, demos, free dlc, free themes, & great prices off games. U definitely get more bang for your buck for what u pay for.

LexHazard793685d ago

Off topic....Hey are you still able to use your own themes on PS4 aswell like on PS3? Dude I have so many awesome themes, dynamic ones to! Thats one of the things I love about my PS3 you can have awesome dashboard!

ltachiUchiha3685d ago

Unfortunately no but hopefully sony can give us an update with features lacking that the ps3 has. Im sure it will come.

LexHazard793685d ago

Hopefully man..its a great feature!
Thanks!

Major_Glitch3686d ago

I have both. It's no contest. Plus beats Gold. End of story.

demonddel3686d ago

Hey like we expected anyone on this site to say anything differently

SoulSercher6203686d ago

It's obvious you're bitter that PS Plus CLEARLY has better value

Mr_Luke3686d ago (Edited 3686d ago )

@demonddel
I don't know if you're sarcastic or just a blind M$ fanboy, but it's clear that PS+ >>> GwG.
People know it, gamers know it, blind fanboys don't (and it's just sad).

Is someone keeping you here against your will?

On topic:
I have been a member of both since their inception and without question PS Plus is significantly the better value.

avengers19783685d ago

@jumpnan if you XDF's have so many games to play why are so many of you consistently on this site... Doing what you do best, damage control, spin, and defend MS and XB1.

demonddel3685d ago

Hey friends it's all luv and fun I just bought a ps4 (hype) still waiting on Microsoft to drop that price before I buy the X1

Ps+ on the PS3 has been great. PS+ on PS4 is crap. I guess since you need PS+ to play online on PS4 there is no reason for Sony to offer full retail games on the PS4.

dp2774073686d ago

I dont see how its crap especially if you already have it for PS3. Paying for online sucks but at least we get it free on PS3 and Vita but Plus is worth the cost 2 most

Mr_Luke3686d ago (Edited 3686d ago )

Well, i consider full game Outlast, Dead Nation, all of those MMOs and... well, maybe next one will be some AAA game, who knows.
Maybe, as a surprise, April game will be Drive Club? ;P I hope so (but i doubt it).

trenso13686d ago

These consoles only came out 5 months ago there isn't any games to give away. Ps+ on ps3 came late into the generation giving them a bunch of games to choose from. They can't just give away new games. Use some common sense and reason.

MasterCornholio3686d ago (Edited 3686d ago )

OK sounds like fun.

Name one game thats offered with Xbox Live gold on the Xbox One.

Irishguy953686d ago (Edited 3686d ago )

They can't just go giving away new 50 quid+ games on PS+, you;ll have to wait for another 2 or 3 months before AAA games start hitting it, I expect Killzone SF first because of the amount of trade ins it had.

Ps3+ has been amazing for about 2 years, getting AAA games less than a year after their release.

Well, MoB, I do agree that the console civilisation is pretty meh, but the civilisation series is well of higher quality than the Tomb Raider one. Civ is one of the greatest strategy games out. I know console gamers practically miss out on the genre but still.

Nocando3685d ago

I hope MS adopts a similar model, they will have to because PS+ is clearly a better deal. My membership with Gold has not lapsed since 2006, so it doesnt matter to me if I have to keep my membership goi g to keep the games.Make it happen already MS.

MoB213685d ago

Right I'm inclined to agree with you. The Civ series definitely has an excellent reputation among strategy gamers, I in no way intended to offend the game.

But yeah, when it comes to free console games, most would find more of a value in getting a game like Tomb Raider for free than they would in getting Civilization V for free

PrinceOfAllSaiyans3686d ago

I hope GWG gets better by the time I get a Xbox One. As for PS+ IGC on PS4 its been ok. Nothing special. Outlast and Resogun were beast. Even tho I can't finish Outlast yet. And I'm still trying to get into Dead Nation. I need someone to play it with. Non of my good friends own next gen consoles yet.

The Best Tomb Raider Games Ranked

We've gone on many adventures with Lara Croft. With another reboot in the making, Wealth of Geeks felt it was a good time to go down the nostalgia rabbit hole and remember the best of those tomb-raiding thrills.

I do agree that Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness was the worse one 😂 I remember playing some of it and I took it back. That game was just awful in every way. I bought it used at gamestop and glad they had that 7 day return policy for used games 😂

Pyrofire9553d ago

Would it be worth saying why?

ZeekQuattro53d ago

Simple. He's been hating on the Tomb Raider reboots for years. I can't imagine seeing them at the top of a best TR game list let alone being on the list in general sitting well with him because of it.

-Foxtrot53d ago

Zeek

“Hating”

No no, just pointing out how TR mutated into a generic action adventure game losing the appeal of what it once was when it was more about puzzles and platforming over going Rambo, slaughtering waves of enemies

But hey, continue being a dick and speaking about me like I’m not going to see the comment.

MeatyUrologist53d ago

Foxtrot, I'm curious if you have played the most recent games. Sure the 2013 reboot was hugely focused on combat, but each follow up became less and less about combat to the point where outside of a few large scale story missions I don't even remember combat being a part of shadow of the tomb raider. Shadow was so puzzle focused it actually was a bit much for me and I love the TR puzzles.

I still feel like Rise was the best of the series and I was a huge fan of the originals. To me it struck the perfect balance of exploration, platforming, puzzles, and combat. Not saying your opinion is wrong I'm just curious what you think they should have done different. Games do need to evolve somewhat to stay relevant. Would you prefer small linear jumping platform levels like the original?

RavenWolfx53d ago

I would agree Rise for 1 and the reboot as 2. Shadow is a bit high, though.

Sonic188153d ago (Edited 53d ago )

I think Shadow wasn't even develop by crystal dynamics. I thought it was the worse in the new trilogy

Pyrofire9553d ago

That's right. Shadow was developed by Eidos Montreal who who went and made Marvels Guardians of the Galaxy next. (Great game)
Meanwhile after Rise of the Tomb Raider, Crystal Dynamics made Marvels Avengers. (bad game)

MeatyUrologist53d ago

Agrees. First two are correct but Shadow should be around 5-6.

terstomp53d ago

For me, Legend should be alot higher (along with the other two ). Shadow, I enjoyed it, but has too much has fluff, as modern games tend to do. Playing the remastered series, and apart from the controls, is very good.

jznrpg53d ago

I really enjoyed the first 2 games, Legend and the first of the reboots and the rest I didn’t get into so I never finished.

robtion53d ago

Completely subjective list. I really liked Underworld, I preferred Lara's design. That said I loved the horror/uncharted feel of the reboot. I think all the TR games have strengths and weaknesses. None are objectively better in every way.
