PlayStation game sales rose in 2013, but Xbox was still king

PlayStation was the only console brand to increase its video games sales last year.

Ouch Nintendo, a 27.6% drop in software sales from last year. I guess it can't just be all about 1st party support.

It will be interesting to see how the games landscape changes come E3 2014. We really don't know many of the games the big three are developing right now. E3 will be a blast this year as the console war continues :)

I'm looking forward to E3 as I have next to no games on my xbox one or ps4 and I don't even know what's coming out lol, I bought very blindly!
First time I've ever cared about E3 tbh.

Only Infamous and MGS:GZ release this month. All the others on that list don't have release dates yet. They could all be 2015 games as far as we know.

@ Clown Syndrome DeadRising 3, Forza 5, Killer Instinct, RYSE son of Rome, Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare, Titanfall, Project Spark, Kinect Sports mix in Third party seem like you have enough. This is just 6 months into Xbox One.

Games never get released the same year they have been revealed at E3, it's at least 1 or 2 years after so my post makes perfect sense in terms of "what games coming".

Did you read the article, it's not about the Wii U, it's a drop in software sales across all their platforms. Wii, Wii U, DS, 3DS etc etc.

The numbers he is talking is for all the Xbox and PlayStation platforms collectively.
So yes, in UK 360 does sell more games then the PS3, it has been this way for the whole generation. But what Dring fails to highlight is that considering this buying pattern, when it comes to the next-generation there has been a sea change. Chart-Track figures show that PS4 games are outselling Xbone games on average 4-1. This is highly significant because the UK was a 360 stronghold but now next-gen console customers have shifted their preference to the competition.

the order is coming out Q3. this year there is PlayStation store a couple games to play like reso gun or flow don't starve some cool indies. knack is pretty good 5-7 hours of fun.. kz.. PlayStation plus outlast. etc but you know save money for the big games uncharted might be coming this year.. as naughty dog said.. now drive Most likely this year. ff 2015...and that's it

I found that weird as well considering all the exclusives Sony had and MS only had Gear of War Judgement which didn't do nearly as well as the others. Also GTA V alone sole 16 million on PS3, and 13 million on 360, so where are they getting these numbers? This has to be a specific region like UK, considering the money amount, and it's the only place in EU where the Xbox brand winning makes sense.

The PS2, PSP, and to an extent PSV are irrelevant when it comes to sales, because the PS2 doesn't sell anything. PSP only sells in Japan, and PSV sales most of it's games digitally, since many of the best games are PSN downloads.

Well, when you have so many games available for free on PS4, the results are truly unsurprising. When PS+ offers so much goddamn value, why would you expect any different?

PS4 fans have no need to even begin buying retail games with the amount of content that is at their fingertips for free on the network. PS fans have not as much as a need to buy games for their consoles, as Sony handles that beautifully for them.

By the way, this was just an example of the freebies that are a perk of being a PS fan. In reality, when accounting for the entire world, and looking at that performance of games on each platform separately, rather than as a whole, we know the story is entirely different to your trollish account of things.
