The Golf Club on Xbox One/PS4: "Aim is 1080p/60 FPS, Already Running in 1080p, Not Quite At 60 FPS"

GP: We recently got in touch with Anthony Kyne, Producer of upcoming next-gen golf simulator, The Golf Club. We talked with Anthony Kyne on numerous topic related to The Golf Club and one of them was "resolution" at which the game will run on both PS4 and Xbox One.

OH good grief. Here we go. IF both versions of the game are running at 1080p/60fps that means that the PS4 version got some major gutting to help the xbone get there and achieve parity. I hope that isn't a sign of things to come. Devs should push BOTH systems to the max and let the chips fall where they may. It's not right to gimp the owners of a superior platform in favor of those that own a lesser one. Push BOTH systems to the limits and let the owners of both get the max experience offered from the hardware.

or if both versions end up being 1080p/60fps maybe the game was only designed to a certain ceiling. You can't automatically assume that things were cut for the PS4 version because the Xbox One can do 1080p too.

Was Rayman gimped on the PS4 because it was 1080p on the Xbox One? Hell it was 1080p on the PS3 and Xbox 360 too.

i think what mewhy is trying to say is that if they get 1080p and 60 fps on both, on the PS4 they probably will have a better AA or better effects with the extra power, and not total parity

@sigfredod that could definitely be true, but mewhy32 isn't saying that. He/she is automatically claiming that the PS4 version is now being held back because since the PS4 is more powerful, it isn't being used to its full potential. They aren't taking into account that a game is designed with a ceiling in mind. Effects, resolution, polygons, physics are not open-ended that can change based on hardware. They build a game to a certain specification and then the hardware runs it. They don't necessarily have time and money to tailor fit the game for each platform. The game may run at 1080p/60fps on the Xbox One and be exactly the same as the PS4 version because the game was built that way.

This logic literally makes NO sense, guess what, the xb1 can handle 1080p too, the ps4 version is unaffected by the fact that xb1 is also getting a version. And no, "pushing both versions to the limit" is NOT how game development works. Games have budgets, and a schedule, they don't have all the time in the world to play with as many graphical effects as possible on multiple consoles.

I would agree with you if this wasn't a golf sim.

This game shouldn't tax the hardware of either console. If that NBA game was able to hit 1080p/60fps on both consoles, this game should have even less of a problem doing it.

What are you rendering here? Essentially 1 character model and a big open field with some trees. Physics? A golf swing (and a handful of variations) and the flight of the ball.

1080p 60fps isn't the issue with this golf game:

Is Tiger in this game?
Is Phil, Rory, Jack, Ernie, create a player in the game?

I didn't recognize 1 course in that video; will there be real golf courses in this game?

The Masters, TPC Sawgrass, Valhalla GC, Royal Liverpool GC, Pinehurst, etc...Are any PGA Courses in the game?

See, these are the important issues in this game!

Oh, so the XB1 is holding back the PS4 now if both version is running @60fps and 1080p? So what is your excuse when none of the first party games thus far on PS4 is running on 1080p and 60fps at the same time? We all thought KZ:SS was 1080p and 60fps on multiplayer but it was proven to be only avg FPS around 45-50 FPS and a resolution of 960x1080 while Forza 5 is at 1080p?

Who said anything about pretties? He was just suggesting the XONE cannot do 1080p 60fps. Other games being FIFA 14 and NKA 2K14. With Dying Light and Wolfenstein reported to be joining them this summer.

Doesn't have to mean they aim for parity or have limited resources to take advantage of the extra power in the PS4. It could just be for reasons like steady locked FPS and many TV's don't support more than 60 FPS and which can cause screen tearing.

Edit: This was a reply to the guys who rage for having a game that seems to be equal on both platforms.
