The Oculus Rift Will Battle PS4 And Xbox One At E3

Microsoft , Sony , Nintendo ….Oculus? It’s no surprise that Oculus VR has just announced they’ll be bringing the Oculus Rift to E3, as they’ve had a presence at many, many gaming events to date, and E3 will be a can’t-miss for them.

The Occulus Rift looks neat with lots of possibilities, but in my eyes, it looks too cumbersome to become a hit with consumers. I'm excited to see what they can do with it, but I just don't see it ever becoming mainstream.

vR sounds cool but I'm never gonna sit on my living room with a helmet on. Would love to have a bash at ot, but it would never replace the good old fashioned TV and couch combo.

I don't see how it can compete at E3 since it has to be seen to give off its wow factor, and seeing how most people watch E3 rather than attending it's going to be hard to do.

But nonetheless, it's good to seem them out there and really getting support.

Really shows how immersive it can be. Now for normal everyday gaming I'm not so sure, but it sure looks like it'd be fun to take a spin on them once in awhile. Oh how I would love to hook up my parents or my little nieces and nephews up to one of these things.

It basically comes down to this. If you have a PC you get the oculus rift. If you have a PS4 or X1 you follow suite. Lol they arent versing each other.

It will be interesting to see how the Oculus Rift will fair against Sony's VR headset. I wounder if Microsoft will do something similar to compete with the two? A VR headset combined with Kinect could work quite well.

Oculus said they would like to get VR on smartphones in the FUTURE. The hardware performance of mobile platforms is evolving at a steady quick pace.

Even then, smartphones won't be playing the latest games with cutting edge visuals in VR. Neither will the consoles.

You can still have some great VR experiences even with simpler graphics though.

Did I seriously just read that? Sure, you won't be getting your Killzone in 1080p with VR, but immersive VR has existed for DECADES, consoles will be just fine even if they have to drop the resolution for it.

weirdly enough, what excites me about OR isn't related to games present or in the future, i'm really wanting one to visit black mesa and games I played in the late 90s... to see those worlds in VR would be so surreal.

Joy of gaming? There's plenty of that everywhere else. If you really don't want console wars discussions, then don't visit these kind of sites. There will always be talk of winners and losers, as they bring clickbaits and traffic.

And everything is a battle now? Everything has always been a battle. If there was no "battle", and everything was fine and dandy like the alternative reality you live in, there would only be one console today. But sometimes, competition is a joy to some. It means the losing company will have to try harder and make better games in order to stay alive.

I am. Just reached Chapter 5 on Bravely Default last night, and still am grinding a bit on Final Fantasy Tactics War of The Lions (man, this game is tough, but the gameplay is so good).

Again, joy of gaming? Plenty of that, but you won't find it here. You read the headline. If you don't like these kind of articles, why'd you even visit? There are better articles here that suit your needs.

PS lost of "Joy of gaming" isn't exclusive to this gen. It started with the Genesis/SNES gen

I get if you've never heard of Bravely Default (it's a Final Fantasy game in spirit, parent company is Square Enix and developed by Silicon Studios, but is branded as BD instead of FF). But never heard of Final Fantasy Tactics? For a dude who's way way older than videogame home consoles, you're missing out on an excellent game!

And maybe I read what you said wrong, but I read your "lost the joy of gaming" comment as the gamers of the PS360Wii era as a bunch of fanboyish twats who go on the Internet and have these console wars. I say that's wrong. There's always been console wars. Videogames are like sports.

And some who don't care about a single team, and will go wherever they like. I'm way younger than you, so I don't know what the situation was like in the 80s and early 90s. But I did see an episode of AVGN that showed Sega being aggressive in their marketing and making fun of Nintendo. "Sega does what Nintendont!" That right there shows you that even in the early 90s, there were already console wars.

I would not mess with Sony rift, they have been playing with screen cam lenses for years and years, it's a big up if you can top EM to, but I say no chance, my insider at game say Sony has something that will blow rift away.
