Player housing is en route to Star Wars: The Old Republic

During a livestream on Twitch today, BioWare Community Manager Eric Musco teased players with what appears to be a video of player housing in Star Wars: The Old Republic. The video is showing a character inside what appears to be a Coruscant apartment with the words "Welcome Home" appearing on-screen. A bed, mailboxes, and other housing items populate the room.

Okay this is totally cool but it better be legacy wide or something. I really don't want to manage 8 houses.

OTOH depending on how customizable they are I do want 8 houses. I want my Sith Sorcerer's house to have a very different aesthetic than my Bounty Hunter's.
The ideal would be to have legacy wide houses, but as many as you want. Then you assign characters to a house. So you can split the characters between houses however you like.

You never played Swg. Two guild halls, a bunker, 6 small houses for storage, and some special houses once they were released during the NGE. It's really not that hard as long as they come with an easy to decorate and store items in the houses like chests or back pack

Well lets look at what bw did with housing in ME3 Citadel. It was mainly a story extension. I know bw has stated they wont continue the player stories, but how about new companion conversions? It would be nice for my companion romances to actually end up in a bed as oppposed to walking off screen them talking about how awesome it was. If the housing turns out to be solely cosmetic, it will be a rather big missed opportunity.

Cautiously excited. The implementation and functionality is what's gonna make this cool or really lame. Just an empty zone to hang out in yourself? Or a cool place people will want to see?

Is it going to be just one house in the exterior zone that leads to an instance? If so id be less than thrilled.

Some games will provide bonuses in relation to your house; Wildstar, as an extreme example, lets you add things like resource nodes, crafting stations, daily challenges (with loot), plus rest XP bonuses based on what you have inside your house.
If all it is is 'decorate your house the way you want', then I probably wouldn't care either, and I'd rather be able to customize my ship than have my own housing area (though I would like to have both if possible).

My opinion on this is its a nice feature . Swtor needed something like this a long time ago . Players have been asking a long time for player housing and guild ships. That being said I feel this is a direct response to an up coming mmo which has a robust player housing system. (wildstar)
That being said if they do this right and make it a credit sink and not something we need to use real cash for I will be happy.

I loved this game and have played since launch but don't let this article fool you, this game is a step above life support. While they are still technically updating the game, the updates are few and far between and there is a significant lack of quality control, so many little bugs that have been present for years.

The updates felt flimsy to me also. Stopped playing in 2021.

This game got a huge update last year didn't it with more content?

PapaBop392d ago

They promoted it as an expansion yet offered like 3-4 hours of content. The game is amazing and easily one of the best Star Wars games ever made but content drops are so few and far between.
