No-name survey website rates Xbox One ‘Product of the Year’ for 2014

In a bizarre string of events, it seems that Microsoft is doing its best to get its Xbox One to catch the PlayStation 4 in sales. In what Microsoft declines as “desperation”, it has price cut its newest console in the U.K. to help bolster sales. It also added a bundle featuring the upcoming hyped exclusive game Titanfall. This bundle is coming to the U.S. as well, but no price cut has been announced as of yet. While many Xbox One’s can be found on retail shelves, the competition has proven much more difficult to keep up with. Could the reason be the original price difference, or the lack of a bundled game?

adweek has been running since 1978 and is an advertising and marketing publication for business owners. They have over 220k twitter followers and rank 3,802 globally in website traffic on alexa.

Writer, that only took me 5 minutes to do ACTUAL RESEARCH

More like no name site called gamerheadlines remains bitter.

CoryHG3704d ago

6 years in America, but a site that ranks toilet paper shouldn't be ranking home entertainment. M$ clearly paid off.

megazero123704d ago

its an advertising and marketing agencey, they will rank anything that makes money

Gamer19823704d ago

Not surprising they been paying companys off like for years.. IGN are the worst example.. Look at the ads on IGN they basically pay for there revenue.. So Xbox exclusives on that site get better scores than say gamespot (for example garden warfare gets 7.0 on GS, 7.8 on IGN. Ryse got a 4/10 on gamespot a 6.8!! from IGN)

Remember, Xbox was built for advertisers, not gamers. Reason why they wanted to turn your home console into a mobile device with an always connected camera watching you and more than that.

Let me just throw this here AGAIN, just in case it is still not clear for many out there:

http://kotaku.com/xbox-ones...

"Let's remember that Kinect is no longer mandatory to the Xbox One's operation and neither is a periodic check-in with the Xbox servers, requirements that were walked back under a firestorm of gamer outrage. That said, many users will simply leave both utilities plugged in. And when a publication like Advertising Age—whose audience ain't exactly privacy-concerned hardcore gamers—says "Xbox One can essentially work like TV that watches you, bringing marketers a huge new trove of data," you realize why Microsoft wanted those requirements in the first place.

Mehdi, at the Association of National Advertisters' Masters of Marketing Conference, in Phoenix yesterday, said Microsoft can see whether people are paying attention to ads and evaluate how their bodies respond to them, according to a marketer who attended but asked that his name not be used in AdAge's report.

"It could have a big impact on pricing," he added. AdAge agrees: "If even a fraction of likely Xbox One users could be persuaded to share data, the technology could create the world's largest panel for measuring biometric responses to advertising."

There! I want those XBoners out there to comment on these little bit specifically:

"If even a fraction of likely Xbox One users could be persuaded to share data.."

Now it makes sense why Adweek would rate this abomination of a console the "product of the year" right??

""None so blind as those who will not see""
""Even though deep inside you know the truth, you would rather fool yourself with a lie""

rezzah3704d ago

interesting, have a bubble.

Volkama3704d ago (Edited 3704d ago )

Even though your comment will be hidden for trolling pretty soon for use of the term "Xboners" I'll respond.

"If even a fraction of likely Xbox One users could be persuaded to share data.."

I'll share data. Not indiscriminately, but data on what I like to buy and such is in my interest to share. If I'm going to be bombarded by adverts anyway I might as well have adverts I will find interesting/useful.

Sometimes the "recommended for you" panels on Live/Steam/Amazon or any other service can be useful.

I understand the value of this data and of course I would prefer to be able to sell it myself, but that isn't the world we live in. MS, Sony, Google, Tesco, BSkyB and many many other parties are profiting off this kind of data, and one is not more evil than the other just because they're better at collecting it...

It is for the home entertainment category. Could you name me any other mainstream hardware designed for home entertainment that is currently in the minds of the general public, that is more deserving?

if this award had a category for gaming I'm pretty sure the PS4 would cake walk it.

Why do these trivial awards rattle playstation fans cages so much? Just makes me laugh at the level of desperation that people will go to to devalue anything with the word 'Xbox' in it.

keep on trukin...

Magicite3704d ago

how can u rate anything product of a current year if year has only just started?

0pie3704d ago (Edited 3704d ago )

well...
Its not the 1st time someone pay another person to get good review and stuff like that.

Qwagy UK3704d ago

No name survey called...... Microsoft (billy big pockets)

manic_maniac3704d ago

Maybe, just maybe, they actually like the product and do not think it is an abomination. And to use the word "abomination" when talking about plastic and circuitry is a bit OTT dont ya think?
"none so blind as those who will not see" which is true in Insomnia's case as he sees the X1 as an abomination,or in other words,an atrocity, disgrace, horror, obsce nity, outrage, curse, torment or monstrosity. But in actual fact it is a really good bit of tech, in my honest, humble and non dramatic opinion.
Insomnia also failed to mention about MS response to this which kinda suggested they would not be able to do this without prior consent from user, but in fairness he is obviously visually impaired.
Li'l tip to ya'll, get a life or at the very least, get a woman. Jeez Louise. Sheesh.

Used to love this one, but X-Men Legends 1 and 2 will always be my favorites, especially Rise of Apocalypse. Would pay some good money to play it today with online multiplayer, back then I had no way to get a modem

ZeekQuattro6h ago

I remember buying them dirt cheap on the PS4 and then a few days later I read they were delisted. I was wondering why the bundle was price so low and got my answer when that happened.

Knightofelemia4h ago(Edited 4h ago)

Sad to say this is one game franchise next to the Xmen that needs a sequel. I use to play the hell out of Xmen Legends and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Was great when my cousin had the OG Xbox play with four other people and then playing online. Great games glad to see it reappear even though I own the discs love the mechanics of this game.

Terry_B4h ago

It got a sequel..but for dumbass #reasons as a switch exclusive.

shinoff21834h ago

It looked so horrible to. They should've kept it similar to the first two.

Asplundh3h ago

Because Nintendo funded it, they did the same for Bayonetta.

Knightofelemia3h ago

I totally forgot about the Switch sequel.

jukins4h ago

Misleading. This page is whats available for people who owned the game prior to delisting.

Abnor_Mal3h ago

The first game was the best imo.

There's a reason they're called 'gods' and not 'regular people'. It's nice they've diversified even more but gods looking godly wasn't exactly a glaring issue with the first game.

Juancho517h ago

Hey! Gods suffer from obesity and diabetes too!

Blastoise7h ago

This is the dumbest article I've read in a long time.

Michiel19896h ago

No one had an issue with that besides a very select group of people that try to push their own agenda.

Crows906h ago

Exactly. Not even sure they're necessarily committing to body diversity either.

The designs look fine not stupid.

Inverno5h ago

The writer of the this article clearly doesn't know what a real god looks like and has never seen them /s

Tody_ZA5h ago

Thanks for bringing up a bunch of garbage thoughts that never crossed my mind when playing the first game because I was too busy playing the game to worry about the portrayal of the physical bodies of gods.

Foolish me, when I read the title I thought we were talking about game mechanics.

Piss off, honestly, with this asinine bottom of the barrel try-hard-to-be-relevant trash.
