It's easy to justify Titanfall by saying there is no single player so it's not the same, but it is the exact same. If you buy those games then we will see more and more Always Online games. I never played socom or MAG so I can't speak to those, but Warhawk had 4 player splitscreen that you could play offline. So, if they announce another Warhawk, and its the same, I'd be very happy. I think any multi player game with a local/couch mode should allow you to play offline. Otherwise why include the local play option?

I recall Black Ops 1 doing something similar where you set up a game to play against all bots, just to familiarize yourself with the map or practice, and it forced you to sign in just to do it. It annoyed people.

As horrible as this sounds, I think the reason that Publishers and Developers are sometimes pushing for Always Online or to be more connected is because it will eventually be the way of the future. Eventually we will always be persistently online we just lack the persuasiveness (and amount of those people) of people to push the infrastructure and get it into place to get us to that point.

My thoughts anyways. However I don't agree with the lack of DRM policy and how easily we can get screwed over by Publishers with this Always Online model **COUGH COUGH EA COUGH COUGH***. Microtransactions would be okay if they weren't absolutely outrageous such as the ones on World Of Tanks (on the Xbox 360) where you have to buy tons of credits to get "special tanks that you can't otherwise get"

TitanFall is another example, could this possibly be the true reason Sony didn't pick up the ip!? An always online multiplayer that amounts to nothing without the internet. Yes, thats Plants vs Zombies. Garden Warfare is a third person shooter with tower defense elements (think Brutal Legend with guns) and was always stated to be an online multiplayer game. Blacklight, Counter Strike, Mag, Quake Wars Enemy Territory, and Breach were all online shooters as well. None of those games are really worth playing offline. Some or all of them have offline features but I doubt anyone really plays them offline much.

I am fine with devts being upfront and saying they won't do single player and/or offline. There is nothing wrong with that. Just like there is nothing wrong with a game not having a multi-player mode.

I would rather them make a great game experience focusing on what they want to do really well, then make a tacked on game experience that sucks.
