Reality Check: When Was the Last Time You Fully Completed a Game?

It took me forever to finish KH 1.5 because I wanted to get everything in KH1. When I finally beat chain of memories I couldn't get to 365/8 because I wanted to finish Riku's story!

overall it took me more then I wanted to to finish that collection lol

Yea prolly before DmC I haven't actually ended a game in years but lately I've been good on it I'm still ending Last of Us now I bought it Launch week :/ Before I get flamed, I play alot of multiplayer and Co-Op games with an inconsistent group I am unfortunately very loyal to.

Ill only do 100% if its a game i loved and want to play it more. Im not going to grind to get 100%. I ran through the story real quick on ac:bf and had no interest in doing all the other junk. Did anyone enjoy running around for hours finding fragments?
The last game I played until there was nothing else to do and then some was dark souls. I also just got the last of us dlc so I might finish that game too.

yeah i wont start playing another game until i at least complete the story. but i do love a good platinum trophy hunt if its not too ridiculous and full of multiplayer trophies. ive platinum-ed demon's souls, dishonoured, deus ex hr, the last of us, resogun, contrast, outlast(that insane mode is a motherfucker) and a couple of vita games. working on killzone sf at the moment but the multiplayer trophies are pissing me off...

I liked the first more because it had more unique ghosts and was more about solving the puzzles of how to capture them.

That said, Dark Moon is still enjoyable. There's still a good deal of puzzles and a couple of neat new features, like a special light you use to reveal hidden objects.

If I could go back, I would have waited for a price drop. It's a lengthy game, but kinda repetitive because you go through the same environments constantly and fight the same half a dozen ghosts over and over, until a boss fight comes up.

Yeah, I basically complete a game every time I start one, as in till the credits roll. I *fully* complete every other game, it usually depends on if the 100% is worth it. Sometimes, the odds and ends are just pure filler and keep me from my backlog.

the author is wrong - in short they state that the reason for having unfinished games are because people are buying the wrong types of games/consoles etc based on hype and drama......nope...

the reality is that people are buying what interests them otherwise why would they spend their hard earned cash on it??

its actually about having a lack of time due to other obligations such as work, family etc when one gets older. And then a new game comes out which they want to play before finishing the previous one, and again there is still a lack of time available to finish that one and the cycle repeats itself.

My backlog list excites and depresses me at the same time. So many games that I've already purchased that I can't wait to play, but where to find the time?!! And of course my backlog doesn't stop me from picking up brand new titles and delaying the playing of old ones.

A good article. I have a huge backlog that spans ps3, vita, wii u, wii, a couple for 360 that I got for games with gold, ps2, and PC. I have chipped two off my ps4 this week. I have no real interest in 100% most games as I do not have the time between work, family and sleep. I play a game for the experiences, if the side quest or collectible unlocks some lore or mystery I do it. If it is just some item, I tend not to worry.

I finish a game's main story almost all the time. The only time I don't beat games are the times when I rent them or they're terrible. I don't try to 100% games simply because I think it's a waste of time. I'd rather spend the time I have playing a new game. The only times I'd play old games is only if I have nothing else to play. Even then I'm not aiming for 100% completion, I just play the game for fun.

And by new, I mean a game I haven't played yet. The last "new" game I played through was Resonance of Fate.

I actually want more games and think consoles lack of games because i finish them the moment i buy them , i don't collect , that's why i don't have the problem that people have here. I buy theif , complete it before dark souls 2 then do the same for DS2 until MGS V/Second son release .

I have been doing this since 2007 ( Ps3 released) .As for platinum , i only do it for the games i love. Other wise it's waste of time. Most of the games these days don't have secret stuff to miss anything , trophies ( complete it on easy/normal/hard..etc / collect 30000 useless/not fun stuff ,.etc). It's not worth my time..

I have a bit of backlog on my Wii U (There are a ton of games whether people want to believe it or not), but every Sunday myself, my housemate, and our buddy play through an NES game and beat it. We did Kirby's Adventure today, which is an AMAZING game on the NES. If it wasn't for some slow down, it would almost be a SNES caliber graphical title.

In case anyone wanted to have a decent discussion: it's a good point. If you truly loved a game, you'd play it over again and again: in-fact, I'm doing that with Metal Gear Rising right now. I still play Left 4 Dead 2 to this day specifically because it's just that fun. Metal Gear Solid 5 Ground Zero is betting on the fact that people will play it endlessly, such that their asking price could be justified.

True. I bought Shadowfall on brand loyalty. Despite the reviews, I took the plunge. Even though I thought it was subpar campaign wise, I'm happy I supported GG as I have faith in their next non-Killzone related project. Fortunately I did this early in the generation, so I won't make the same mistake again. If critics are giving a game bucketloads of 7s and 6s...its probably for a reason.

I'm only supporting titles that I genuinely want to play and that I'm excited for.

Actually. Now that I think about it. There are a lot of games that were pretty 'meh' that I never got around to finishing. FarCry3, Mass Effect 3, Borderlands 2, are just recent examples.

But strangely the games that I truly love I end up completing over and over again. UC2, UC3 and TLOU I've completed several times each. Skyrim I've played through to completion with several different character builds. KZ2, KZ3, and KZSF I completed several times as well. There are heaps of others but these seem to be my "go to" games when I don't have anything new to try.

I put this down to the fact that my gaming time is limited now days (family and work commitments) so if a game doesn't "grab me" I usually move on pretty quick. But my favorites I keep going back to revisit again and again.

Now 100% is a different matter, now i only 100% if its not too much a bother, i'm part way there already, or i like the game. I've 100% Revelations SP trophies, all of Ascension, and almost done with TR plat.
